  1. Think about how funny it would be to follow them around like golfers, and cheer them on with every cast! Lol
  2. Abu with YoZuri (large bore, haha), Extreme 17lb Mono
  3. I got lucky. My wife came with me to BPS (I did all I could to convince her not to), and she was actually OK with my reel purchase (although not a Shimano). I wouldnt be able to get away with another Shimano myself either, shes catching on to the names and brands (its a undercover plan I believe to keep tabs on this stuff). The new rod comes next week with the rod trade in. Next week she will not be going due to the vendors (and I told her I was going to be there for several hours checking out EVERYTHING! HAHAHA)
  4. I was thinking of getting the 15lb, but then realized its .01 for 5 more lbs. I fish a lot of heavy cover down here, and a lot of snakeheads too. I usually use 65# braid, so I figured the 20 should be OK. I havent casted the Extreme yet, but the Pro Qual has similar braking to it, so we shall see if its decent. Heck, for the money I actually paid for it, cant be that bad, its replacing a ProLite that was garbage.
  5. Well, now Im really not going to be allowed to go there by myself.
  6. Chronarch, Curado, Citica-$30 Rebate................GET SOME!!!!!!!!!!
  7. So going to the Classic sale at BPS this weekend, I was originally looking for the Shimano Caenan. Since posting of the possible purchase, some have made valid points of not purchasing due to the frame. While looking at the other reels that were on sale, came across the new BPS Extreme reel. Seen it, but never really checked it out. My wife has the older model, and what a vast improvement on design and quality in this thing. Sale was from $79.95 to $59.95, also has a reel trade in that saved $10, and a $25 gift card, and about $20 in BPS points. Not a bad deal. So since I had a few extra $$ from making that good deal (the wife was very pleased, since we are cutting budgets a bit), I was able to pick up some Mono to put on my new Spook reel. I decided to go with Spiderwire mono (I just like their braid, so stuck with it). Also, since we are trying to keep expenses down, on my regular user, Revo SX, was going to not use braid anymore (since I use it soo much, I go thru it like crazy). I figured Id go with a Flouro, and picked up the YoZuri Hybrid in 20lb test. This should be strong enough, since this rig is mostly used around town in local canals. Ive heard some good things about this line, has anyone ever used it before? It was a really good price for the amount of line. Tried it out today, and it didnt give me any backlash issues. For being 20b, it was still able to cast a 6" Zoom lizard, on a 3/0 widegap, and a 1/32oz weight very far, and very effortlessly.
  8. What you say may be true, but what I heard from the Shimano rep was just that. So to clarify for you and the rest of who may read this, it was info from Shimano. It makes sense to me, considering its not an "laughable assumption", its info from the source.
  9. Set-up KVD line conditioner try again if 1-3 dont work go to 5 new line
  10. the E was built better. The G was toned down to give the Chronarch the spotlight while that was toned down as well. Its just a sales theory, but thats the way it is sometimes. I was talking to a Shimano rep today at Bass Pro, and he even agreed, the E was so far the best that they had for the price.
  11. Thats a tough call. My Curados are E's, and I know they are a different world of performance than the new G's. I love my SX too. The SX is very smooth, but its hard to beat the quality of Shimano products. # of bearings isnt as important as placement. I can tell you that my 50E can cast farther and is smoother than my SX. My opinion, if your going for the rebate, get the SX, and get online and find an E series for sale if you want a Curado.
  12. this I was not aware of about the graphite frames. Good info, thanks for the explanation.
  13. I just want to know who has one, and how they like it. Not looking for "get another reel, but i dont have one"
  14. I already have the Chronarch (200E and 50E, haha). Trying to keep the $ down. Just need something for my new spook reel, so a non metal frame will do for a mono setup.
  15. I have the Citica, and its pretty good, but want to try the Caenan. Im going to use it for what you use it for, my spook. Gonna put mono on it too, figured it would be good for it.
  16. Is that the North Fork Miami River?
  17. Sorry, forgot the caution of the brake cleaner. Spray away from the rest of the reel. I only use it for the bearing trapped on the spool shaft because of the pin.
  18. Hot Sauce is good, but you have to remove all old hrease and oils for it to not cause that reaction due to different chemical bases. The best thing for you as to not have to worry would be the Ardent cleaning kit. No matter what you use, make sure that all bearings get soaked and cleaned out with acetone or non chlorinated brake cleaner(good for the spool bearings that are trapped on by the pin) before adding oil of your own.
  19. That lightning rod will last you a lifetime of good fishing. I use the shock rods on my baitcasters because I use braid. I fish tournaments and have no provlem feeling bites or wrestling fish in. Dont be fooled by all the $ hype for overpriced equipment, its not going to make you a better fisherman, just a unhappy husband while your wife nags you, haha. Enjoy that rod, they are amazing!
  20. Have the Pro Qualifier, and the Citica. Not impressed with the Carbonlite.
  21. Anyone got one of these reels? Satisfied with it? I am going to get a new reel during this Classic sale, and figured might as well trifect the Shimano line. Since I have a 200E7, and a Citica G6, might as well try this new piece to add to the artillery. Its got 6+1 bearings, so it must be pretty smooth right?
  22. Not good with the whole ebay thing, but if you want the greenie its yours for $20, just dont know how to do a payment swap. I did buy a 50E off ebay a couple of weeks ago, but I dont have a paypal account. Trying to get rid of stuff I dont use, and would rather a kid be able to use them than junk them. I didnt know it was a 1:1 ratio on the trade in. Thanks
  23. I saw that too. It got my attention, Id have to go with Bills theory, unless they develop a womanist group in that pond, then its all over, haha.
  24. AMAZING! What a genuine company.
