  1. Looking for some small lakes and ponds in Knoxville, TN. Anyone know of any or have any ideas?
  2. Thanks for everyones reply on the topic. I have really enjoyed reading everything that was sad. IMO the only place that could potentially produce a record largemouth in the U.S. would be a lake 75+ acres in California.
  3. I have been thinking about it lately and with all the added fishing pressure these days especially in the areas of the country that produce big bass each each year, do you all believe there is a world record largemouth swimming around in the United States right now? Now on to the next question. Do you believe there are a handful of bass that would break the record or is there just one or two out there that would? I am talking strictly in the United States. Do you believe largemouth of world record size only exist in Cali? Lastly, how big of a body of water do you believe a bass of world record size needs. Is there any possibility that one could grow to record size in a large pond for example? Thanks for any responses and opinions in advance.
  4. Really appreciate the responses and suggestions everyone. Leaning towards something shimano right now I think. Maybe a curado 200e or 50e. I can't find a decent deal on either of them anywhere though? How much should I be expecting to pay?
  5. Thanks for all your suggestions so far everyone. I think as of right now I am leaning towards a a shimano curado e or citica e? Is there a large difference between the two, and where can I get a good deal on a new one? Thanks again for the help!
  6. My birthday is rolling around in a week and I am in need of another baitcaster. Looking to spend somewhere around $150 or so. The most important thing to me is longevity and durability! What reel do you all recommend in this price range?
  7. One of the most over looked techniques for pond fishing is a simple rooster tail. I have always had a lot of success with them on all ponds I have fished. Small cranks and any small soft plastics would also be a good bet.
  8. Thanks for the responses so far everyone. I hope to take a little bit from what everyone has said and apply it to my pond. Capt. Pete, I found it really intresting that you used a small grub like that to catch large bass like you have! I will def. be trying this asap. Thanks again everyone and keep the responses coming!
  9. Thanks Greed. I like that idea a lot and it makes sense. What kind of trailers are you using on your jigs?
  10. Thanks for all the excellent advice so far everyone. Does anyone think it would be okay to throw a 12' plastic worm in winter in cold water to target the larger bass? I have always heard it is best to downsize your presentation in winter so I didn't know if this would work or not? Thanks again guys. Brad
  11. Hey guys, How long does it take you guys to "write off" a pond as not having any big bass in it? The reason I ask is because there is a pond about 5 minutes away from where I live that I fish often. It's a great pond for catching large numbers of bass but I have never really caught anything over about 2 pounds in it. I am beginning to wonder if there even are any 5+ pound fish in the pond at all. Are there any lures or techniques you guys could recommend to me to find any larger fish in this pond? Thanks, Brad
  12. This will be my first baitcaster and I am kind of clueless on what to get. I was wondering what rod and reel combo would be best for under $250. I am just looking for an all purpose rod and reel that I can use for basically all fishing techniques and lures. Thanks for your help and responses.
