  1. Nitro...hahaha..I swear the nail polish was random... it matches a pair of my girlie~girl high heels... When I wear the silver polish I have never brought in a huge Striper...lol But if you think it may help your hit rate, go for it.
  2. Thank you everyone. Especially you Hubby for spotting her and handing over the Costas so I could sight her. At first I though...meehhh carp...haha It was a bit comical with us standing there yelling "BLACK SENKO.......".. ripping off the Zoom Trick worms and getting the Senkos on. Hearts all thumping and trying not to spaz out. I tossed it back to a fallen tree toward the back of the area because the Zooms wiggling in their faces freaked them out. The only reason I got her and Tom didn't was timing on throw-in and where I saw them run to. I have the best teacher. :-) Thank you Husband..
  3. I was originally targeting lazy winter bass enjoying a quick meal when the sun was out for a couple hours. I struck out, put away the Avid Medium setup with the Curado 50E and grabbed the UL spinning rig. Wandered done the trail to the brackish water between the river and the overflow canal. 80s?.. Reminds me of Northern CA weather. He was ugly and made for a good challenge amongst the limbs and stumps. Take care..enjoy the weather before the humidity hits ya! Jenn
  4. Ynnhoj86...you being in AZ I can see snagging a mirror or two, but I did not expect to get one today in the cold waters of PA today... Similar gear as you Avid UL- Stradic 1000 - Line 6 lb. Little dude was a good fight in a mass of trunks and twigs and made my day since I just got my 2012 license.
  5. From Tom D. and I to all of you and yours. Our best wishes for a safe and cheerful Christmas and a prosperous, healthy New Year. Jenn
  6. And that about explains everyday of my life..application architect/analyst SFA.... platform agnostic..cross-platform design....SAP... the unending implementation labrynith of doom...layers...pfffttt...give me open architecture and APIs anyday over ABAP and SAP... But for the average person either phone is fine. My Galaxy S went into Perry's Landing Marina in Erie as I saved a Bass that decided to shake my jig out of his lip as I dead-lifted him over the rocks.. That ended out being a $500 bass and at 2 lbs was not worth the rescue. Lesson learned - Otter Box for phone or net the fish.
  7. Thought you may appreciate that.. haha Now, my young educated friend, let's go back to the comment on law of diminishing returns and I believe you have your 'Eureka!' Moment.
  8. I can see that. Exact reason I never got a BB or the iPhone. Bad enough I had to painfully wallow through our SAP CRM 7.0 w/ ECC 6.0 implementation, but as soon as the Sybase mobility came up with IPhone as the preferred platform.... I went to Android. Not being the beta tester on my personal equipment on my own time. Cheers.. I see your point, Sir. OP - 16G is sufficient...32G isbetter
  9. I don't use spinning gear except UL... Avid AVS60UL - Shimano Stradic 1000F - 6.1 - Fireline Crystal 6lb or Pline cx 6 lb Casting Avid AVC70MF - Shimano 200E7 - 7.1 - Pline cx 12 lb
  10. We've had both. I am an IT professional and prefer Android platform phones. Husband has the iPhone. I vote iPhone for limited technical savvy folks. Although J Franco has the iPhone which is perplexing. This is a bit like the Chevrolet OHV vs Ford OHC engine debate...apples to oranges.
  11. Yeeeeeppppppp.........almost convinced, Sir..... :-) Come on Santa..show me the $... Back to OP topic.. sorry for jackin' the thread...
  12. Gentlemen...you NEVER, EVER want to fully understand our psyche. I appreciate Happyhappa's contribution 100% but to try to understand female psyche.... 'the mind functioning as the center of thought, emotion, and behavior and consciously or unconsciously adjusting or mediating the body's responses to the social and physical environment.'.... Is as difficult as reconciling quantum physics and general relativity...at least string theory has a couple constants. :-) Honestly, our center of influence and control goes as far as our OWN psyche and that is challenging enough. Understand yourself. Self-awareness is critical. Our propensity to attribute behaviors to others is directly proportional to how we understand ourselves and our emotional baggage we carry around. As an example, I may have personal past experience where I have been questioned about what I spend money on . Perhaps I grew up witnessing my mother nag relentlessly my father about money. If I am not aware of the impact to my psyche then next relationship, my boyfriend simply makes a statement about what I have bought and I recall the past and apply my emotional response to this situation. I have applied erroneously previous situational emotions to an innocent query. Guilt is always a great one to seek external justification on. Again..own it... Understand yourself and then you can seek to understand others.
  13. To answer your question as stated above. I don't believe many of us here are huge fans of the either due to some personal preferences. With that said.. St. Croix's marketing objective was to fill a perceived void between Mojo and Avid series. To tinker in this market they have designed the Rage with the SCIII blank which uses their IPC (integrated poly curve technology) for a smoother blank design and smooth taper to eliminate transitional points. It is a Pac Bay Minima reel seat/micro guide rod with a reduced stripper guide but not micro size where the Mojo uses Batson Forecast Al 2 O3 Aluminum oxide guides and a Fuji reel seat. The handle is neoprene which for some may be okay, but as an old school gal...I dig cork or naked blank. - personal preference. The rod runs, as stated, $150s to $170s compared to Mojo it is a step up in the St. Crox series. BUT research what you're getting for the price and warranty. With the Avid you get a lifetime no questions asked warranty..for $50 and a letter of explanation you can get a replacement even if your buddy snaps it in half in the SuV rear hatch. I swear bass_fanatic you have me researching and eyeing them Recons- PHX - 713 the 714. Tackle Tour gave it props for the $.wish I could field test one with the Curado 200 first though. Jenn
  14. As a lady who is an angler, I can be just as guilty of spending and just as guilty for questioning..perhaps it was a moody moment for you both. 5 years is invested time you will never get back. Keep in mind the law of diminishing returns. Being an educated college student you should be able to see where this law is applicable to your scenario. If not, time to spend more on books and less on gear! On a side note, open honest communication is the foundation to any human relationship. Ask her once again her standpoint. Consider it analytically and honestly and then decide for yourself and own it. Step 1 and Step 2 to responsible relationships...they're never easy. Take care and best of luck to you.
  15. Yes. 1972 Eisenhower was a high mint coin. 1972 with no mint mark = Philly about 75 Million units D = Denver almost 93 M Highest is 76 @ 113 M + for type II. Best are the Blue and Brown Ikes The significance is you are snappy at your salutes to your officers! :-)
  16. I've collected coins for years. But, instead of focusing on proof sets or uncirculated collectibles, I'm always looking for double die obverse or stamping error. If you find a true die error penny...say a 1969 double die San Francisco mint it can be worth over $30,000 to a collector. They are a proverbial needle in a hay stack, but your odds are about the same as winning the lotto. http://coins.about.com/od/uscoins/tp/errorvarieties.htm
  17. ....Stradic....FI....CI.. not sure about FJ
  18. http://www.stcroixrods.com/product/premier-spinning I started a while ago with the St. Croix Premier spinning rod (6.5 for me is okay being 5.1 shore fishing). The Premier 7' Medium-Heavy Fast action is an exceptional rod for the price. PS70MHF is light weight under 5 oz. With a 7" non-split cork handle. Good backbone and decent for senkos and other plastics. When paired with a Shimano Stradic 2500 it's a great combo in my opinion. Check out the St. Croix Premier series rods. You can find them on sale often at Dick's, Cabellas, Gander Mountain and BPS. As stated longer rods will give you longer casts and a moderate action will bend more to the middle of the rodversus the fast at the tip. Careful with hook sets on the fast actions. Nothing more disappoint in then getting that lunker on and lip rippin' him right off. Good luck.
  19. Thanks for posting this. I had just got the hubby a 51E for Christmas for about the same price ($115 less the Black Friday deal from T). I was quietly jealous. Thanks to this thread and a 1.5 hour drive to BPS I have my 50E to compliment my family of 200Es. As stated it was honored at the store even though it rang up for $145. Now I'm a tad upset I didn't get the last one they had left.
  20. First...welcome. Second, I lived in the Sacramento/Placer area for over 20 years. Nice to have another NorCal lady on the forums. Third, I can speak to this comment from both sides, as both a wife with an angler hubby AND as an avid bass angler myself, I like the approach of asking family, friends OR ask him to make a 'wish list' of everything he wants now and in the future. Have him put down small to high $ items. As NoBassPro mentioned, many websites have wish list creators that he could create and print or email it. He would not know what on the list you got him, but, you would certainly get him what he wants, with no guessing. And, the best gift is always those that you give just because. Now with the list you can drop by a sporting good store and pick him up something from the list anytime. My husband and I do this together because life is short and precious. Best of luck and Happy Holidays! Jenn
  21. Maybe they were reenacting their favorite Gran Turismo best lap time on Suzka. That's what happens when you attempt to overtake another car on an apex of a curve in a public road surrounded by a herd of Ferrari's... Fool. I think I am more upset about the 2 Mercedes.
  22. Thanks DVT, I inspected it under better light with a magnifying glass and the finish does have a hairline crack. So, although the upper leg is stable, it will degrade over time. You're only 60 miles away and I would not mind taking a ride out your way with the husband. We just finished some winterization on the rod and filled the cork when I noticed the rust getting worse. Let me talk to Tom and I'll send you a PM. And, yes, sir! Exceptional service indeed.
  23. Doug, It can get over complicated if you let it. You can fish with a stick and line if you want, it all depends on what YOU want. As for all our 'opinions', they are just that. My best advice is to search the internet and read a few articles on the questions you have. There are thousands of unbiased educational and informative articles out there many of them on this site will give you exceptional informational facts. By taking the time to become an informed consumer, you can decide what you think will work within your price range. I've personally started with a Zebco 33 on a Zebco sling shot rod in pink and kept upgrading to where I am now. Trial and error will be necessary to find your comfort combo. http://www.bassresource.com/fish/Fishing-Rods.html[/url http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/bass_fishing_rods.html Good luck to you, Sir. Jenn
  24. Was it the persistant patience or the coffee, warrior? Great to hear you got a lunker!
  25. Quick question.. I was looking closely at my Avid this weekend and noticed some rust under the wrap of the first guide on the rod. The guide and legs are stable with no wiggle and I do not see any cracking in the wrap or the flex coat. Is there anything I can do about this? Is it cosmetic now and will become a structural issue later? I know I can always return it for service, but prefer not to part with it for any extended period of time. Any insight welcome. Thank you. Jenn
