  1. Love my 7'3" duckett the best, but like my bps carbon light too.
  2. I have heard great things about the BB1. I have two lews, tournament mg for cranking and tournament speed spool and love these reels. Cast a mile and hardly ever catch a back lash. I also have two pro qualifiers and a revo s, but the lews are my favorite. I would go for the BB1 or any tournament lews.
  3. You can also get a Shimano Clarus topwater or crankbait MH/Moderate Fast tip for $89.00 at *** or basspro. I just picked up the Compre crankbait rod for $100 in 7'6" MH/Moderate Fast. My thinking is this Moderate fast tip will let me use this rod for a little bit more applications then just Cranking because the rod tip is not so whimpy. You could also go for the topwarter which is built off the same blank, but in MH/Fast tip. The good thing is Shimano offers the over the counter Warranty. You may want to also look at the duckett rods. I have a 7'3" MH which can be used for cranking as the rating is more in between a M and MH. Just my thought on a rod that can do double duty
  4. Thanks 78Staff. I did have the cranking stick from BBS, but took it back when I found the kistler. The BBS was a good rod just didn't like how fat the handle was. I guess I'm going to pick me up one again in the 7'10" because they are so cheap and I don't have room for anything thing longer than 7'. I heard the Dobyns and Denali are great cranking rods not so much for skeets and Mojo cranking rods. Tackleware house has a phoenix rod I was looking at and the W&M Clunn cranking rod for like $60. Any ways thanks and enjoy that fine cranking stick.
  5. I called kistler today, but the don't make the rod anymore. Cast away makes a 7'11" telescopic rod but its a M power casting rod and not glass. Not sure if it would do what I want. Guess I could check out the cranking stick but that rod isn't glass either. Any use it before?
  6. I had a 7'9" kistler micro magnesium ts crankbait rod that broke on my last outing. I sent it back to tackle warehouse for a replacement, but just received an email they don't carry the rod anymore. My $120 was refunded but now I'm in the market for a new rod. Wish I could just find this rod again for the same price I played for it. Maybe someone can help me find another perfect crankbait rod. Needs to be under $150 somewhere in the 7'6" to 7'10", telescopic and handle 6xd and dd22. Would also prefer split grip and micro. Thanks for the help
  7. So do jerk jerk pause reel up most of slack Long sweep, pause reel up most of slack Jerk jerk , pause reel repeat. Wondering how you handle the slack in your line. After I jerk or sweep I'm left with lots of slack. Just wandering how much of the slack you pick up before continuing your next jerk or sweep
  8. Thought he was talking about clacking rap.
  9. My favorite lipless crank bait in olive or perch
  10. I like seaguar or berkley 100% fluro
  11. I like the bps carbon light with micro guides and with the spring classic starting tomorrow you can get the Johnny morris one for $106 with a rod trade in. If you don't have a bass pro by you get the veritas of tackle warehouse when the have their 10 or 15% sale within the next couple weeks.
  12. Single and twin tail grubs are good, but I like craw baits for trailers. Rage craws, grande mega claws and chigger craws. Try these and I'm sure you will narrow it down. Good luck
  13. I have a shimano Sahara which I really love. Think it is a 2400 which runs somewhere around 60 but cabelas was selling them for 40 a couple weeks back. You might want to check it out but I also heard great things about the pfluger
  14. I have this same rod in the same size and power. I really like the feel and the sensitivity of this rod. You can feel every bite and would say the rod is a little on the lighter side compared to other mh rods. You can't go wrong though great rod
  15. ok I metioned i got my lures back but it looks like the line broke about 1.5' to 2" above where my knot was tied. Would this indicated new line or new knot. Funny thing was I went out again today to play arond with the rod again but was able to cast the same rod with same line without any breaks. Then I put the 3/4 oz lure on another rod to check out how this rod would throw the lures. I did noticed that the line is 10lb test but has the diameter of 8lb mono. The rod is a cheaper berkley rod rated to 3/4 oz but feels pretty noodlie. On the second cast with this rod the line snapped. I got my lure back and found out that this line snapped about 2" inches above my knot. Now this line is spooled with Suffix braid and 10lb yo-zuri leader. I have no doubt that a lighter lure would have cast fine but I wanted to see if I could cast the dd22.
  16. went back to the lake today to see if I could find my crank baits and sure enougth I did. was supprised about this one. rod guides are fine but I'm going to try it again with a 3/4oz washer and see what gives. If i can cast fine with out the line snapping I will caulk it up to bad knot, but if line breaks again I'm throwing on the 12lb stuff to test.
  17. The line was new just spooled on. The funny thing I was out last week with 12lb line and had no problems but wanted to try 10lb line. I guess either my knot or line but I'm thing it is probably the line. What knot do u guys use with fluro. I do like yo-zuri but will it get as deep as fluro
  18. I have a bass pro cranking stick 7 6" in medium with 10lb red label segur line. I went out to the lake to test the rod out and lost two lures on two cast. the first cast was with a norman dd22 in 3/4oz and the second crankbait in 3/4oz. two cast and the line broke on both cast. Could this be the line or the rod being to weak to cast these lures? the rod is rated to 5/8 oz i belive. What is your folks opinion on this? I would love to get to the bottom of this, i cant afford to lose more lures.
  19. Why not use spider wire flurobraid. I'm using that right now for my alabama and swimbait rod. it sinks and still has the sensitivity of braid. No need for a leader, fish are being caught with the alabama rig. Thats five wires in front of those baits three in other states. If fish are being caught with wires i'm sure braid isn't going to be a promblem, unless maybe your fishing up north in the great lakes.
  20. I would go with this rod Okuma Big Bait Rod 7'6" Med Hvy. Tackle warehouse has it for $129.00 but you can get it off amazon for $98 with free shipping. http://www.amazon.co...55&sr=8-3-fkmr0 My wife bought me this for christmas for throwing Huddlestones and the alabama rig, but she got luckly and got it off amazon for $60.00 during their christmas sale. I've been throwing it all spring and have no complaints. Hope this helps you out.
  21. I ended up buying the duckett micro magic in 7'6" MH. I really love this rod, it will cast a mile. I can also cast my alabama rig and Huddlestone ROF5 as well as my crankbaits. I will saw what everyone else says is this rod runs a little on the light side. So a MH is a little bit heavier than then a M but lighter than a typical MH. All in all i'm glad I bought this rod.
  22. My mistake it isn't the white ice rod, I was refering to the micro magic rods.
  23. I'm looking into getting me a nice all around 7'6" micro MH casting rod and wasn't sure which of these two to get. Does any one have any suggestions, opinions or experiences with either of these two rods. They both have warrenties, but you still have to pay money with either of them if you need to exchance it for another one, so the warrenty is limited. Thanks
  24. I was wandering if you could hook a foot controlled pedal to a transom mount? I came across this ProControll transom mount http://www.basspro.c...10214272/85845. Bass Pro and Cabelas has bad reviews but was wandering if some one had any experience with this first hand. Looking forward to answers
