  1. From the pic I saw it looks to be a rebadged Hyuga,
  2. Just saw the Team Pro Magnesium is only going to be $280. That's a freakin steal.
  3. Top 3 pbs all came off a 5.8 jackall flickshake wacky rigged
  4. I remember that when the new Antares came out a few years ago Shimano showed the guy pendulum casting a 5/8oz plug 99 meters(108 yards). But its reported that the Antares/Calais DC did 118 meters with the same weight. I personally think its worth the money for several reasons. Its got the most advanced braking system ever still. Self recharging electro magnets controlled by a digital circuit. And its not all about distance, its about controlling backlashes, even into the wind. Combined with all metal construction, forged components that have incredible detailing. Its getting long in the tooth being almost 10 years old so I think its surely going to be replaced soon.
  5. 2 years ago when the yen was super strong against the dollar, I bought a poison adrena from Plat and the shipping was over $100. A couple of months ago I bought another rod from Plat and the shipping was only $65. If you want to import a rod now is a really good time. Who knows how long the yen will stay weak?
  6. Shimanos share the same general design language but if you think the Met, Chronarch, and curado share the same frame you need to get your eyes checked. That's not even close to what Daiwa does. In the 2015 JDM catalog they have 4 iterations of steezes (3 with SV spools), 4 iterations of T3's, 3 different iterations of Tatulas... and don't get me started on previous Alphas, zillions, and pixys.
  7. Check out the Abu Garcia Volatile Medium Lt. I have one that I use for weightless flick shakes and smaller senkos. Its rated as an x fast tip so its not too much of a noodle. I caught my PB 5lbs with it and it handled it great. And its only $99
  8. No not really, they may release a DC version of certain models but you wont see 3 or 4+ iterations of the same reel
  9. if you are talking about the elite tech smallmouth rods the rear portion of the reel seat is very wide so the reel can move around. I use tape on the rear portion of the reel foot to solve this.
  10. the only e series I have left is a Curado 50
  11. They may be shifting everything to the LFS style frames
  12. I haven't fished the citica yet but the spool weights are nearly identical so casting should be virtually the same and if that's the case then yes it would be worth the money. Give the new svs infinty brakes a try, they are definitely a step up from vbs.
  13. The big difference in the gen 2 vs gen 3 revos was the main gear material. Brass vs hardened aluminium. It made the reels much lighter but also took away from the smoothness on the retrieve. I'm not sure the gen 2 revos had both side plates made of aluminium. The sx and revo ib I have certainly did not. C45 is just their marketing term for fancy graphite/carbon. That new magnesium reel is going to be their new flagship I'm pretty certain. As the owner of a few magnesium reels, if they are engineered right they make fantastic fishing gear.
  14. this is standard business practice for Daiwa as they do this with almost all their reels with a couple of exceptions.
  15. I'm just seeing a different handle nut and retainer, matte black paint, and maybe a smaller zillion style TWS. Everything else is pretty much the same. Looks to be a hybrid between the regular and type r tat.
  16. Ill be honest the Citica feels smoother because the knobs are more secure(no in and out play) and of course its brand new. In hand the Curado feels a fraction lighter. The Curado dragstar is anodized while the Citica looks to be painted(I could be wrong). The spools are almost identical in weight (16.5 grams vs 16.4 in the Curado) In the previous generations the spool weights were at least a gram apart which gave the Curado the edge in lighter weight lures. I do prefer the Curados color scheme though. If you are at BPS and had these 2 side by side IMO the Curado definitely looks nicer.
  17. I don't have either but based on the specs Id pick the Lews because of the weight, and the customer service. I have the Team Lite and its as small and palmable as Chronarch 50.
  18. The dark one is the latest model if the TW info is correct. The silver one came out in 2011, and the dark one came out in 2014
  19. might have been me lol.. swap the red brakes for the white ones for extra distance
  20. Pick up a Scorpion 1000xt from Japan. Super light spool at only 11 grams but still holds plenty of line.
  21. Daiwa will come out with a reel, then release different iterations of it year after year. You almost need a stack of their catalogs to keep up with it.
  22. It looks to be the JDM Caenan
  23. I prefer the gen 3 for palming.
