  1. Curado is shimano flagship? As if you had no credibility before lol.
  2. I'd actually have to give a d@mn about quantum first before I started to hate them.. I dont see any "quantum hate" anywhere, its just that nobody really cares about them... So try again.
  3. I rarely if ever see shimano advertise when I see fishing tournaments on tv. Its all quantum and Abu. Heck I even know quantums slogan catch phrase from hearing it so much. "Fishing at a quantum level" LOL
  4. Just do it whenever it starts making noises that you don't like.
  5. Well I can tell you that after using a 100mm handle and going down to a 90 or even 85 mm handle, it feels more natural to me.
  6. I think its still rated from the preference of the reviewer, it seems that wolbugger is much taller than cal or zander.
  7. I wonder why their test models weren't smooth? Mine was buttery smooth out of the box, and when I swapped the handle and added 4 bearings to the knobs it became churned butter smooth.
  8. Curado I. Its user friendly and you can grow into it as you get better because its such a high performer. So no need to spend the money on something "better" or more expensive later unless you just want to. Wait are you talking just the reel or both rod and reel for under $200?
  9. Last week I went to a favorite spot and there were already a lot of people there. This kid saw me using a baitcaster and asked me how it worked. He seemed well spoken and respectful so I kinda showed him and cast a few times. He said he had a baitcaster in his parents van so I had him go get it and showed him how to use it. It was a quick lesson and hopefully it will help him and he doesn't forget my instructions. Driving home it kinda made me feel pretty good.
  10. My curado is still pretty greased up, I haven't done anything but swap out the handle. If I take the cc cap off there's grease all over the bearing and spring but it still casts like a beast. No need to oil the brake drum yet. Just go out and start casting.
  11. Buy from Japan, This place has them listed for $315. http://japaneselure.gostorego.com/reel/shimano/shimano-baitcasting/shimano-13-metanium-right.html if you buy from Japan you never have to wait on a sale lol.
  12. Add in the Daiwa SS at 5.3 oz, Aldebaran BFS at 5.1 oz.
  13. Assuming you are in TN you can also avoid our super high sales tax and put that money back into a better rod.
  14. Looking forward to hearing your results on these lines as Im looking to try fluorocarbon again.
  15. The Antares was reviewed by Cal, while the PQ was reviewed by Wolbugger. So the preference or opinions in handle length, palming, etc are bound to be varied. I think my Metanium palms better than my Curado I despite the Curado being smaller. Other people will have different opinions.
  16. For$109 you get a lot of bang for your buck, but I would never pay retail for it. Pros are, casts good, palms good, brakes very adjustable. Con's for me, feels a tad unrefined, retrieve not powerful enough(I have the 8:0 ratio and it struggled with squarebills.) And sometimes the t-wing doesn't work right cause the line to bunch up on one side.
  17. Well the guy never stated his budget. And getting one reel that can do everything well would actually save him money vs multiple combos as he said.
  18. Dude, the 2 main guys who write the majority of the articles favor Daiwa, most of the forum members prefer Shimano but have reels of all brands. But the most active members that post in the TT forum favor Daiwa.
  19. How can you say its better than a curado G but not better than a citica when the curado is basically a tuned citica?
  20. To be fair their favorite rods often get a 1 rating in the price category. Also it was not the actual editors that put down LEWS, it was the forum members.
  21. If you have the cash pick up a Metanium. Its casting range is enormous and there are plenty of different spool options.
  22. There's nothing wrong with the G series, for a first baitcasters it would be a great choice, especially if you are on a budget. Bps has them for 99$.
  23. Ive had this problem too, so Im trying to use larger hooks.
  24. I agree, Ive never even come close to spooling my Tat R.
