  1. Yes "cookie cutter". The Lews of today are all made in the same factory along side Abu Revos, pfluegers, BPS, Ducketts, they share ALOT of the same components because they are essentially all based on what Doyo Korea have available technology wise. LEWS did not develop a dang thing on their reels. Have you noticed all the Lews are pretty much the same design? Lews has to undercut shimano on price and give you more ball bearings because if they cost as much they wouldn't sell as well. So I'll keep enjoying my "kool aid" of knowledge while you can keep drinking from the water fountain of ignorance.
  2. So more bearings makes a better reel huh? I'll take a 6 ball bearing Shimano that they designed and developed, and manufactured from the ground up over a 10 ball bearing cookie cutter reel from Lews(that was designed and manufactured by Doyo) all day long.
  3. You haven't been posting much here or on TT, thought you may have quit fishing lol
  4. Its going to be $150 msrp. Probably a little over $100 on ebay
  5. Yes, the scorpion is aluminum framed with graphite side plates.
  6. I'm assuming that you mean the 1000xt scorpion. Its specialty is light baits. I was effortlessly casting and pitching a weightless wacky jackall flickshake long distances a couple of weekends ago. Its the same reel as the Chronarch 50 so its one of the smallest profile reels available. Once you go shimano 50, you won't go back lol
  7. Get the scorpion while the current model is still available. Its an all time great.
  8. If you search back about a year you will see about 100 threads about this subject
  9. Some of the Lews do have the dual braking, but the reel in question has the ACB system centrifugal system. Ive found that casting into the wind with the Shimano VBS ad 1 brake and use a side arm cast if possible. But yeah things under 1/4 oz into the wind gets tricky but its possible as I use my 50s to throw LC 65s in all conditions.
  10. A lighter shallower spool is probably the best bang for the buck.
  11. The Team Lite doesn't have the dual braking. And the 50 is great in the wind, just add another brake.
  12. My first Lews. A lot of reel for the money.
  13. I love my Shimano 50s but the Team Lite is the first LEWS Ive gotten and Im pretty impressed. Its about the same size as a Shimano 50, almost as light, has a ton of details that makes it one of the best looking reels on the market, carbon handle, composite knobs, rubber piece on the thumbar, tasteful porting and just the right amount of gold accents.
  14. I'm going to finally fish my Team Lite this weekend, I'll let you know how it performs vs the 50
  15. Well I have the Aldebaran and a regular Metanium and between those 2 its very tough. Id pick the Metanium just because of how cool DC braking is.
  16. These are not direct competitors IMO. One is awesome with light lures, much smaller and light as a feather, and the best palming reel I've felt to date. The other is more of an all around beast that has a very special braking system and costs $100 more.
  17. Theres much more to it than spool capacity. The Aldebaran 50 is TINY compared to the Metanium and noticeably lighter. Its so small I can fish jerkbaits with 1 hand. And handles lighter baits better than the Metanium(which handles light baits very well). The Metanium has micro gears and may cast 1/2 oz ad up lures farther. If you are going for an all around set up I would go for the Metanium because its could be the best all around reel on the market right now. There is nothing it does not do well. The main advantage to magnetic brakes used to be that you could adjust the brakes from the outside, now with the new centrifugal systems with external adjustments that advantage is gone.
  18. What are you looking for? The longest caster? The lightest weight?
  19. Remember, these prices are based on the dollar to yen exchange rate. So they literally change every other day
  20. Japanlureshop, jpangler, a few vendors on rakuten. Their prices are based on the exchange rate. Places like JLS and JPAngler have a flat shipping cost for small items of like 12 bucks. Find those websites and bookmark them
  21. Ouch bro, they were available for much less.. mine was around $300 shipped. Got here yesterday, Going to try it out tomorrow.
  22. Yeah its the BFS XG Limited
