  1. wayne what are using to pin the hook to the worm?
  2. thanks for all the info fellas.i use circle hooks becuase i dont want to gut hook the fish.im using the 4 inch finese worm because the dam i fish has predominantly small fish, about 1 to 2 pounds. I consider using live bait cheating.it takes skill to fool a fish with a lure, the live bait does all the work for you. I found a way to make the wacky rig weedless from the article lmoore posted.
  3. my biggest fish(about 5lb) was caught on a knock off of the zoom superfluke.give the lesser known stuff a chance, they might surprise you.
  4. dumfish do i have to use senkos?
  5. thanks lmoore that article was helpful.now all i have to do is make some time to go fishing
  6. thanks for the sugestion but jackal is not sold in South Africa and i dont realy have the budget to source it right now
  7. thanks will do
  8. hi so while fishing my favourite dam i decided to use live worms.i noticed that the bass only take the worms when they move and wriggle about. This got me thinking, instead of cheating and using live bait why dont i just wacky rig some finese worms. I have a couple of questions. 1.where do i use this rig most effectively? 2.what line should i use to get the most action from the worms? 3.how exactly do i rig the worms up,im using mustad circle hooks size 2.should i rig them dropshot style or plain weightless. Thanks in advance ebrahim
  9. good fish!it seems you guys are going into winter there in the states?
  10. nice one bud. You've got some nice fish there
  11. i caught a lays chips packet a glove and a shoe and my friend caught a duck while fishing for carp...all on the same lake.
  12. crankbait...you'll lose contact with the bait or it will feel like someones grabed your line and shook it. Topwater/jerkbait...trust me you'll know Soft plastic...the lure will become heavy or you will get a spongy feeling. Spinner...thump or hard knock Jig...you'll lose contact with it(swimback) or a quick ''tap tap'' or that spongy feeling(generaly in winter time) In any case STRIKE if you feel something
  13. i cuaght it on a fluke in water 1 to1.5 meters deep.i was using a predator xr24 6.6' medium spinning rod with a penn powerspin v3000 spinning reel and 13lb suffix mono
  14. awesome bru. Catch any kurper lately from renhosterkop?
  15. hi loodkop I couldnt help notice your name is afrikaans for leadhead.are South African by any chance?
  16. It was fun but the fight wasnt long at all.i brought my fluke through a fallen tree 2 or 3 meters infront of me and i saw a flash of green scales and my fluke disapeared,i struck and 10 secconds later it was on the bank.this was the first fish i cuaght on a fluke!
  17. well i wont be updating my pb yet.i have a rule weight must be confirmed by using a good scale. The dam i was fishing is a public ''dog walk'' that happens to have bass in it.its not managed and people take fish out willy nilly.its a catch and release dam but since no ones enforcing no one cares.too many people think with their stomachs.the fodder in the dam are blue kurper and vlei kurper and they are getting fished out as well.this is the biggest fish ive caught from this water and at the current state of it i dont think anybody will catch anything bigger any time soon. Thanks for all the congratulations and well done's,much appreciated.
  18. for 2011 i learnt my local water well and am consistantly catching bass. For 2012 i want to improve on my pb(5 pounds estimated)...catch a 10 lb bass...catch a bass in the vaal dam/river system...finaly to catch a carp on specimen gear and tactics. Last but not least to get more people to practice proper catch and release.
  19. thanks and it was released.on that same day a south african pro was on the same water.he had a kickboat and i was fishing from the bank.after a 10 minute conversation with him i landed this guy.nothing like having a pro congratulate you on a catch. On a sad note some kid was fishing the same dam and cuaght 5 quality bass,he took them all for the pot even though its a catch and release dam.
  20. wow 5 to 10!it didnt feel that heavy when i caught it. The girth isnt very good, the fish was quite skinny, they cant get enough food it seems, strange given the abundance of baby bass in that dam
  21. hi Over the christmass weekend i caught a northern strain largemouth at my local dam.i couldnt weigh it as i didnt have a lipgrip scale with me and the scale i had would had to have been placed in the gills for a secure weighing. It was 60 cm(23,6 inches)long.measured from snout to tail.
  22. Its late spring right now and we just had some rain. The weather forecast for this Saturday is good weather.Im hoping to target the weed as well as i love fishing texas rigged creatures.
  23. Thanks for the warm welcome guys
  24. hi This saturday i have the opportunity to fish a series of private ponds for 2 hours in the morning before work.3 dams are full of matted weed and 2 are clear. My question is given the time limit should i pitch texas rigs into the heavy matted weed or pick apart the clear water with my flukes and cranks?
  25. well i didnt hook someone per se.me and some friends were fishing from a bridge on the roadside.he reared back to cast and snagged a passing SUV!The spinnerbait he was using was destroyed and the car was missing a headlight
