  1. when your bored at a shopping mall and start casting imaginary lures with an imaginary rod, then set the hook and proceed to reel in the fish and then hold it up for a picture And people start pointing and staring and you take it as though you've caught lunker.
  2. ja you can tube their but you cant launch from the canoe club, you have to launch from the jetty on the opposite end.its a bit dicy however as its a straight 2m drop.dont fish on sudays as the canoe club has a race in the morning
  3. yeah i just read the whole story on www.bassing.co.za Its now the official new SA reccord.wow 6.43kg(14.17 lb) well done to the angler and good job releasing it and not taking it to a taxidermist like some idiots do. Emmies is fishing well considering the crap treatment that dam gets.not much happening from the bank but as soon as you get on a boat it becomes like murray park.
  4. hey guys I just returned from a week long carp fishing trip and im aching to go bassing soon, hopefully after this weekend i'll have some more pictures to upload

  9. @logan now that you just cant fake
  10. I can remember fishing in emmerentia dam along the dam wall when a kayaker rowed over line.I shouted and waved my arms about and he just ignored me.My line got stuck on his rudder and spooled a third of my reel before it cut off. Some people are just natural born jerks and you just have to tolerate them.Dont let them spoil your day
  11. small-1/8oz or less-cranks,jerkbaits or jigs.Just more succesful with them then their bigger counterparts
  12. I get excited everytime i catch a bass,it doesnt matter what size it is
  13. and if you want to know if there are bass in there just stay very still on the bank next to a piece structure or cover...sooner or later a bass will show itself.but if you are catching bass in that pond then there is bass there
  14. hi Well done on your first few fish.to get going you should get a medium to medium heavy spinning rod and a 2500 to 3000 size spinning reel spooled with 10 or 12 pound test monofilament line. Lure choice is seasonal and depends on the water clarity and type of structure and cover in the pond.a good all round bait ia a spinnerbait, try the double bladed ones.you could also try 1/4 to 1/2 oz jig and trailer combos. Craw type baits and other creature baits do work well and are used best on a texas rig to target fish holding tight to cover. Go through the fishing articles on this site, theres some valuable info there. Good luck and i hope you come right.
  15. triton hair jig,the ultralight ones,without trailers.
  16. Been out about 5 or 6 times since Jan,I'd say im between 40 and 50 bass, all small ones though. The biggest ive weighed in was 730 grams/1.7 pounds.
  17. Thanks. This place is Emmerentia dam.It used to be a good fishing spot, but now its plagued by illegal fishing. But every once in a while some quality fish are caught.
  18. hi Caught a nice one on a 1/16oz white hair jig off of a brush pile
  19. hi i think the south african record is 5.25 caught at Inanda,im not sure about that, someone please verify that for me. South africa and africa as a whole does have potential to produce world class bass and yes there are untouched waters to be fished and who knows what we'll find there,BUT we need to manage our venues and enforce catch and release if we even want to hope to catch lunkers regularly. Case in point the many small dams in the Guateng area.from personal fishing experience these dams hold big fish, there's enough food for them and the climate is condusive for them to reach lunker proportions. However the locals will happily catch and eat all sizes of fish from 100 gram dinks to 3 kg monsters.today in fact at a local dam i saw a group of 6 guys catch a garbage bag full of fish and takin it home. What on earth are you gonna with that much fish. We need for all our waters to be manged properly, profesionaly and for scum like these illegal fishermen to be brought under control.
  20. Nice fish.Whats a meanmouth?
  21. Catch,photograph,release...Three words to live by
  22. well done,nice catch
  23. when i find a lot of small bas i use my diy lure of a circle hook,a berkly power wrigler and some hackel.cuaght like 50 the other day. Trick worms are great and im going to try wacky rigging with them.
  24. in south africa bluegill are only in the natal province.i live in gauteng province.the fodder in our waters are tilapia
  25. thanks for that.we have some bait bands at the tackle store where i work.will give those a try and see how it goes.
