1. a good rule of them when talking flouro vs. mono is that mono 2 lbs heavier than the flouro dives to the same depth,10 lb flouro = same depth as 12 lb mono, 12 lb flouro = same depth as 14 lb mono and so on. mono also stretches and flouro is invisible under water.
2.when i use crankbaits i use 12-17 lb flouro, some people like mono for crankbaits because of the stretch, but i like flouro for the invisibility factor and if you have the right rod you dont need stretch in the line. for an all around size i would go with 15lb seguar red label or invis-x.
3. for top water stay with mono, the line limpness is what creates the actions and it floats, flouro just pulls the bait down, for an all around size go with 15 lb mono either by vicious or by trilene.
4. for light situations using i would go with 8-12 lb flouro, in general i would go with 10 lb flouro, the flouro will give alot better feel and will sink so it will help the action of your finesse baits.
5. when pitching and flipping it depends on the type of cover, the heavier the cover the heavier the line, you have to be careful using spinning gear for pitching and flipping though, the spinning gear isn't meant for heavier situations such as this. if you do end up doing this i suggest 20 lb power pro braid. i suggest eventually investing into a casting setup with a burner reel and a heavier rod 7'6"-7'11", this would be much more suited towards pitching and flipping.
i hope this helps your decisions, alot of what i have told you is based off personal experience and from Jon, Kevin, and Randy Vandam who live in my area.
