    Grump!

I enjoy your posts. Keep going.
  2. I love the 50 size reels and use them for everything except deep cranking and frogging.
  3. Another vote for the black Spro. The nastier the cover the bigger the bass.
  4. I use snap swivels for in line spinners and spoons because it helps reduce line twist. Everything else I tie direct.
  5. Bluebasser. This is why I tie my own jigs for carp using stronger hooks. We do tournaments where points is allocated for every species you catch on lures only and carp is always on the list at most of the venues we fish. Wow 3lb line is really going light.
  6. I will have to be from the other side.
  7. Fun, fun and more fun.
  8. Some days I walk them really fast. Some days I dead stick. It is nice being able to do different presentations with the same lure. Fishing team tournaments 1 will start out fast and the other slow until we hit the right presentation. This can also change during the day. I would definitely practice walking the frog even if it not your main presentation.
  9. Don't take your boat out in the rain. Your rod lockers will shrink and the next time you go out you will have to leave behind the rods that don't fit anymore.
  10. I wish it was safe to eat fish out of some of my local waters. Due to pollution catch and release is healthier than fresh fish. Not good.
  11. Lure fishing for carp can be great sport any time you can find them in shallow water. Carp feed by rooting on the bottom and sucking up whatever they have disturbed. They do this in a nose down tail up posture and can be easy to spot when feeding shallow. The trick is to get a small lure presented quite close to the side of the head (not in front-blindspot) the carp will turn and suck it up. We use either long telescopic rods to carefully "dip" the lure or in more open water spinning gear to cast and drop the lure. The best lure is a "loodkop" like in my profile pic but a wooly bugger fly and splitshot is an alternative. Carp are strong fighters and stalking and catching 1 right in front of your feet is super fun.
  12. Thanks, I have some of those in my library already. The kindle store just dosn't seem to have the books I'm looking for at the moment. I have some books on order from Amazon as well but waiting on shipping to South Africa is a pain.
  13. I have only used the Zman lures. I have seen the Booyah's but I'm not sure if I like the flexible hook set up. Somehow it just seems a bit "suspicious" to me.
  14. I use the black Spro popping frog more than any other topwater. I own about every color made but except for freshening the hook I have had the exact same popping frog tied to my line for at least 9 months.
  15. A better way to add weight is to push the body up the double hook shank and wrap lead wire around the hook. This will not impede the hook set and if I add a rattle I will also glue it now. I use a rear weighted frog when I walk the frog. The more nose up position makes walking easier for me.
  16. Same thing localy. I love Yo-Zuri jerbaits and lipless baits but they can be hard to find in stores.
  17. I don't use the Cane toad but fish toad style lures a lot. 1 secret is to rig it perfectly straight to avoid twist. I use both weighted and unweighted screwlock swimbait style hooks usually in 5/0. They don't float but are retrieved like a buzzbait.
  18. Please be very careful of the fumes when you melt plastic. Don't use your cooking/ everyday microwave. This stuff is poisonous and can harm you. Use appropriate safety gear to protect against burns. This is an addictive and rewarding hobby but be careful and make sure you know what you are getting into. Enjoy
  19. I use a black Spro popping frog more than any other top water bait.
  20. You have already mentioned my favorite lure ( frog) so I would have to fall back on spinnerbaits and/or lipless crankbaits. For plastic I would use flukes and senkos.
  21. I'm looking for suggestions for any good bassing e- books or magazines. I just had a hip operation and need to spend 4-6 weeks mostly on my back. I'm spending a lot of time reading BR on my phone but would really appreciate a good book or 2 for my kindle as well. Thanks.
