I like to use Megastrike and chartreuse JJ's magic. The Megastrike lubricates the bait and makes fish hold on longer and the JJ's ad contrast to the bait. I use the JJ's more for the dye than the scent but the scent doesn't hurt.
I also use the 50 size reels for nearly everything. Exeptions are frogging and deep cranking where I prefer diffent gear ratios. Line size goes from 10/12# flouro to 50/65# braid and anything from weightless Flukes to spinnerbaiting.
I have never had strikes to compare to river tigerfish hitting a spoon. Its like hooking into a guided missile with short range fuel tanks. On the bass side I have had some big hits from smallies on spinnerbaits that still brings a smile to my face when I remember.
Like I said I also use braid and getting the jig back help with pollution. I just don't want a new angler to bend his jig hook straight and then use pliers to bend it back to shape and start losing fish.
I don't understand this argument. What is the use of a jig or any lure with a straightend hook? I won't use it again and run the risk of losing a decent fish. The only positive for me in recovering a striaghtend hook is in not contibuting to pollution. I also use braid but bending out my jigs is not the reason.
I don't like braid using weightless plastics when the wind is blowing. I love braid for frogging, punching, spinnerbaits and lipless cranks. I fish a lot of grass.
I would get a 7 MH rod in fast or extra fast action. Can be used for nearly anything but good for jigs, texas rigged plastic and spinner/buzzbaits. Notice I left the choice of spinning or casting reel to your own discretion.
7.2M/F Crucial, Stradic FJ 2500, 20 PP with 6-10 Invizx leader. I pour my own ball and football heads as well as my own trick worms. Also like squirrel tails and baby brush hogs. Megastrike and JJ's for a final confidence boost.

Did you guys hear about my giant catfish? I used a chicken on the Landrover's winch and when I got it out the lake level dropped 2 inches. You can ask my brother!
That is 1 of my local species. I only fish lures and catch them on inline spinners ( size 1 and 2 mostly) curly tail grubs and small minnow lures. Blues are good eating and strong fighters. they get to around 6/7 pounds and a 4 pounder is a good fish. Nice catch on a topwater.
I have both and love both. The Ci4 is my dropshot reel and the FJ is on my shakeyhead/light plastic rod. I really would love to try the new CI4 as well.
