  1. If you are talking about the one piece hard plastic molds like those sold by Barlows no release agent is needed. Just let the lure cool down a bit and it lifts out without any problems.
  2. First is a heat source to melt your plastic. Perhaps the easiest way to start will be a microwave. Use a pyrex cup to heat the plastic in. There are lots of threads on this here on this forum and a search will give more detailed answers on various aspects of the pouring hobby. Just be warned before you start that you will get addicted and will not save money as there will always be a new mold you "need". Working only with remelts only will soon be limiting as well and you will start buying virgin plastisol, coloring, glitter and various additives. Don't hesitate to ask questions as this can shorten the learning curve. Good luck.
  3. I like to work floating worms around lily pads. My "highly scientific" color choice is to match the flowers. Pink lily flowers pink worms. Same with white and yellow. Doing it this way just seems to give me more confidence. I also like to use braid and a leader joined by a small swivel.
  4. Those are very neat. I love the stealth rod! There is just something about the matte blank and dark wrap that screams " serious tool" It might be because of my fly fishing days but I just can't see myself buying or using any of these bright white, orange or red toy rods.
  5. I agree with Fuzzygrub and the Captain. The main reason for making my own is to make colors and shapes nobody else is throwing. Buying plastic in ingots would also mean that I would have to spend time either cutting it to pieces or grinding it down before heating adding an extra step to the process.
  6. Bass eat craw baits and jigs in South Africa where we don't have any freshwater crayfish. IMO bass will eat anything that looks/ acts alive.
  7. I would love to see it in the water. (Preferably at the end of my line).
  8. I know that I should slow down but I find it hard to sit still on a piece of structure or cover when I don't get the bites. It is one off the things I will be working on this year.
  9. Nice
  10. You guys should try living in South Africa for a while. We can't buy South African because there are no SA manufacturers. This means I either have to import my own without seeing or handling it and risk losing it to an inefficient postal service or pay prices inflated by a series of middlemen. The local tackle store has less bass equipment and lures than I have seen on the showing off/ re stocking threads. It currently has about 50 Rapalas 15 Normans and 3 red eye shads on the shelves. I have never even seen an LC or Megabass lure and thought Strike King red eye shads were expensive lures. As to the pricing of lures everything here is an import. Nothing is cheap. Buying or not buying any lure is a personal choice and I believe it comes down to confidence. I fish to win and if I believe one lure would give me a couple more bites per day that is what I will be using. Enjoy the luxury of living in the home of bass and occasionally spare thought for those less privileged.
  11. Fishing for lots different species on one comp means I have lots of different hook sizes on my boat. I use strips of fridge magnets in the different compartment in my plano boxes to prevent hooks mixing on bumpy runs or while towing. Try it its cheap and it works well.
  12. Guilty. Artlure angler from Mpumalanga.
  13. Cleaning my sonar screens.
  14. Wow, this is technical. I'm glad we don't have long winters like you guys. Winter is the time of year I wear shoes on the boat. I wonder if that has any effect on top speed?
  15. Spent a couple of hours at our local dam yesterday afternoon. The boys love playing with the dinks and even my wife got her first for the year.
  16. Like Fuzzygrub said "welcome to the addiction" I started out with a pint of plastic and one stick mold. Now I'm running out of space to store all the additives, colours and glitters and there must be at least 25 molds. Enjoy
  17. Very nice lures. The purple shad looks great.
  18. My son has the Sienna on a light action Fenwick for small inline spinners and UL cranks. The reel has performed well for about 18 months with no issues at all.
  19. Very nice. How is the sink rate on the fur jigs? I remember making some that I had to wet first or they would float. I haven't tied one in years but you have unlocked the bait making monkey. (Not that he stays in captivity long in any case)
  20. My local tackle shop just got them. I will pick up a couple of bags although I mostly make my own plastics. I have read enough positive reviews on BR to make me interested and find it hard to resist a challenge. I plan to fish Saturday at the latest.
  21. The Zoom super fluke is super. Unfortunately most of the anglers I compete against also think so. I went back to the sluggo to show the bass something different. So far it seems to be working.
  22. 1) Spro popping frog (black) 2) Booyah 1/2 ounce willow leave s/bait (golden shiner) 3) Home poured 4 inch stickbait/senko (black with chatreuse flake)
  23. It works for KVD.....?
