Wow, after doing some research it seems it's a rarity for crappie to grow this size. Went out to day for 3 hours, and caught 9 within that time. The largest today was a 14". Today they were the meal, and tasty they were! Some very clean fish! Thanks for the comments on my non-bass fish everyone!

Ah, go figure! I'm pretty new to the fishing gig. Never seen a crappie this large and slender shaped. The largest was about 18 inches

Any ideas on this one? Caught 7 of these guys in a 3 hour timespan yesterday evening in a small lake near Lake Tecumsah next to the ocean in Virginia. The lake is more or less cut-off from the canals and everything else. Making it semi land-locked brackish water. The only other fish that I've caught in the lake are bluegills. Looks like some sort of spotted smallmouth... but then the length of the anal fin seems longer then usual, and the spots stay even all the way through the fins. Help! Thanks, Erich
