So I plan on getting a new jig setup. I think I am going with the Dobyns Savy 7'3" heavy action rod but I don't mind hearing possible better options. If you like a rod better in that range let me know!
But my real question is what line to go with. I don't have multiple setups available so I need a rod that can cover the whole spectrum in one setup. I have been going back in forth whether to get heavy fluorocarbon (17-25) or braid. I plan on swimming jigs, flipping jigs in heavy cover and using football jigs, stroking and hopping them.
What do you guys think is the best fit for this setup? I have seen opinions from both sides.Does the braid perform well when stroking and swimming a jig? I could tie on a leader if need be as well.
P.s. I also have a medium heavy 7' veritas with 15# fluorocarbon tied on. It crossed my mind that I could use some of the lighter jigging on that rod and heavier stuff on the 7'3".
Let me know what you guys think!
