As many of you IL guys know the state is littered with small lakes (many hp limited) that have great fishing possibilities. Washington Co. Lake is definitely one of them. I host a handful of one-day tournies there every year. These are a laid-back format wtih no membership required and 100% payback. The 2014 schedule is as follows:
March 23, October 12 and October 26.

Just remember, if you dont fish here.... fish somewhere!
Of all the tips and tricks I've read and learned on ANY site, this by FAR is the coolest, most useful of them all! I still amaze my fishing buddies wtih it.
Being a bit vertically challenged... you can figure it out. Seriously, my dad called me Dink for as long as I can remember. Being a tournament guy also, he would joke about the fact that I was the only "dink" he ever kept. Lucky for me!

Another one for the Avid. Granted, I too am a St. Croix fan with numerous Premiers, Avids and Legends. Workmanship is top-notch, but I was sold long ago on the sheer durability of all of these sticks. Highly recommended!
I've thrown it for about a month. I had my reservations about it due to the weight and sheer size of it but soon found out that it is just another bait/technique to adapt to. I threw it on a MH 7'6" mod/fast pitchin stick and a 6.3:1 reel with 20 lb. mono. No break offs and I even swung a couple decent ones in. Just another tool.
Or you can try what I did. I had a couple of old brake rotors lying around and bolted them together face to face to make a "spool". I just wind my anchor rope around it for easy storage as well as deployment. Seems to hold my 17 footer in place fine. Not sure about bigger boats, but an idea.
Formerly Belleville... now GC... temporarily. Went to Baldwin L. yesterday with Lineman (good friend of mine). Cold, gray, intermittent dizzle-rain-sleet. We got 7 all over 3 lbs. but none over 4. Lipless baits on the point next to the discharge. That should tide me over for a few days.
