  1. Yeah I had this prob in NC too at Falls lake all that dern rain came in and now the water is in the bushes and I was so happy but didn't know that the bass were already spawning before the water came up 2ft and had to pull out of the water I was sitting in and fished that....so the beds were in 3ft instead of a foot.
  2. Yeah J I didn't do to hot due to the rain and the lake rising up about 2-3ft into the bushes....I started to fish all the submergered bushes and nadda, only buck bass no females so I had to drop back and I caught her but then the high pressure front came in right before my tourny and I didn't do so well...it's been rough with the pattern and the lake rising.
  3. Dag-on Big-O you have had a great year thus far.
  4. Caught this mama on a bed...she wasn't huge but she was def a keeper and I wish she would have bitten at the tourny lol.
  5. Call up your state districts wildlife biologist for advice, they will be glad to help you out.
  6. The first picture is the recent, second was last year, other two are prespawn.
  7. This is probably going to turn out into an article so sorry, but today around evening my buddy calls me up and says he's fishing a pond that's by his old house (neighborhood pond/golf course pond) anyways my buddy tells me he's with my brother and that he can see the bass on the beds, two over 5lbs. I get a picture about an hour later with my brother holding up a beauty. My brother and I have been fishing for quite awhile, I would take him bass fishing when he was a young buck around the age of 12, very unpatient at his age. I used to cast out for him and try to show him how to fish...lol man it was a headache, as he got older he got more and more into bass fishing and I stressed to him to do research and told him that, "only you can catch the fish, not me." Well with that statement made he began to ask me a lot of questions and try to fish like me, wasn't working for him and had to explain to him about patients and what baits work during certain times of the season. Last year he has been out a lot with my one good buddy and teaches my brother how to use a baitcaster and how to make adjustments accordingly. My brother has done tremendous thus far in a year. Because of my job in the military I cannot teach my brother ah whole lot but just by talking to him over phone and or by e-mail he has done great. I feel great to be able to talk to him about fishing techniques and or a fishing pattern and he understands it now and patients has paid off. He looks up to me and I feel greaat that I am able to share the things I have learned make him a successful fisherman. I have done my job also and it has paid off. Paitients is definitily the key to his success. Thank you bassresource for all the advice and the guys on this forum, you guys help a ton, new or not this is what the community is about and it's a great oppertunity to share with others.
  8. IMO, not all the bass in the south region have spawned. We will be getting a drop in temperature the end of this week. Just because the weather is warm doesn't mean all bass spawn at the same time or even wait til water temp reaches primarily 60 degrees. You have to pretty much go to the lake or water resource everyday to understand the weather to bass movement. Females will be on the beds when they know it is right time even if the water drops ten degrees she will still be on the bed. On the other hand yes consistant temperatures of higher temps can put bass into the spawn pattern, but at the same time you have to focus on the moon and barometric pressure changes. Sunlight, has the biggest role in the spawn. I watch to see the trees sprout the buds and 9 times out of 10 bass will be on the beds.
  9. Bigger bass in the pond would help, if you have to much bait and to many bass the same size that's a big problem.
  10. Yea man made lakes gotta love em'. Nine years old is long enough, especially if you live in Florida. Structure and deep depths are what you need to look for or some kind of cover. I agree with everyone for the most part great advice.
  11. I'd say around 7 and a half
  12. P226 sig .40
  13. So correct me if I am wrong it takes longer for a stained lake to warm up than a clear lake?
  14. Yes I agree with you.
  15. Piedmont is where it's at for LMB.
  16. Usually in NC when the trees just start to bloom and turn green the bass are on the beds and it's prime.
  17. For me Carolina rigging for bass is one of my specialties, with that said I usually start post-spawn when bass move to secondary points and the main points. Roadbeds and ditches are some of my go-to spots....usually a 3-4ft leader with a centipede worm or creature bait....just depends on the bite sometimes I even use a grub. I have had great success with this rig and firmly believe in this rig on pre summer into summer months. The rig is used to put the bait in or around bass and there habbitat, and it can give a bass a great oppertunity to ambush the bait. The rig cover a lot of ground and can be fished slow and or fast, preferably slow.
  18. Plus if you are tournement fishing it's an oppertunity to get a monster and come up in the bass fishing league. I see your point though Short, also I really don't know if the bass even have a successful spawn if they are caught? Do they make another bed?
  19. beattle spins.
  20. Bass feed in lower light conditions.
  21. Just depends on how you like to fish?
  22. Also have you evern been to BPS and seen the bass swimming around in a tank with a bunch of little sunfish...exactly, sometimes the sunfish disappear.
