  1. X2. The station works nice for casting reels but I found that it causes some problems with spinning reels and twist, especially if I'm spooling floro on a spinning reel.
  2. I have an Edge 55 lb, it's been a good motor. Come to think of it, I've had 4 Minn Kota TM's on various boats, never had an issue with any of them.
  3. Can you tell what kind of valves you have? I have a ProCraft, the valves are made by Flow-Rite. On one side the valve is called an "automatic". When I'm at rest and the livewell is running it is constantly drawing in fresh water. When I put the boat on plane the valve automatically switches to recirculate. Maybe your valves are similar and in the rough water your valve is not fully engaging to recirculate and allowing a little water to escape through the drain? BTW, I have also plugged my upper drains for long runs and I too have noticed a little loss even when both livewell's valves are switched to recirc or auto. Here's a link to Flow-Rite's website: http://www.flow-rite.com/marine/systems.html If you read some specs on their valves it will describe what I'm talking about. Hope this helps.
  4. We got about 5 inches of snow here in PA. Kinda feels like winter will never end.....Hopefully yesterday was the last of running the snowblower for the year. At least the lakes are beginning to thaw....
  5. Why not join a local club, heck of a lot cheaper..... I learned more in 1 year than I could have in 10 on my own. Just have to get into the right club. Save your money, like mentioned $1200 will buy alot of other stuff.
  6. I'll take 3 - 1.75 pounders over 1 - 5 pounder any day of the week. 3 x 1.75 = 5.25 lbs 1 x 5.00 = 5 lbs LOL, I had a brain fart....... I was thinkin lunker, not overall weight. Sorry ;D 5.25 > 5.00
  7. Definately agree and what I was trying to say. You may have those little ones figured out but why not try right off the bat to figure the biggns out? Seems like a waste to me too. I've learned one thing tourney fishing, someone is ALWAYS gonna catch em so why should my goal be to just come in with a limit, I fish to win.
  8. I used Eagle Claw hooks for years when I poured my heads. They aren't too bad but I found that the hooks flexed a little too much for my liking, they just don't seem to be as strong as the Gammies or Mustads. The points do dull a little quicker than Gammies or Mustads, just have to keep an eye on the points, they sometimes roll over too. I'm pretty much using all Mustad hooks to pour now. I've come to one conclusion on this thread, use whatever you like and have confidence in!
  9. You have to start the hook point where you want the eye to be on the tube. Run the hook point in and thread the hook all the way through the tube, this will cause the head / weedguard to end up where you started the tube through.
  10. Yesterday, my father told me it was still mostly frozen.
  11. At least the kid had his seat belt on
  12. FishinGirl, welcome from one Police Officer to another. Both Bass Pro Shops and Cabelas has bench style replacement seats, they may work for you depending on your seat's size. Could you take your seat out have someone re-do it w/ new fabric? I had one done last year in my bass boat. It was pretty inexpensive as opposed to ordering a replacement one from ProCraft.
  13. Ben, tell me the ice is off the lagoons! My wife will be away w/ our little one for Easter. I have to work Saturday but if the ice is off I'll be there Sunday! Probably will bring my little boat, it's more ready than my big boat and little easier to manuver the shallows of the lagoons.
  14. Most of the time I'm already fishing places where I will catch bigger bass. I'm a little different than most I guess I don't generally fish for a limit first then go looking for bigger fish. I ALWAYS fish for bigger fish. In doing that I will usually also catch some smaller ones. I may not get as many bites as some other anglers but they are of better quality. With that said, If I'm fishing an area where I'm not catchng the quality I should be I'll either slow down or speed up. I fish a jig alot, it's easy to change speeds with. I may try a different color or weight jig. I may even switch to another presentation like a t-rig or crankbait. It just depends on the day's conditions and time of year.
  15. These are jokes....right? :-/ :-? :-? I seriously hope that the "beat up community holes / places I won't be" fishng is a joke. AND "I look for fisherman who seem to know what they are doing and mark their sopts" I really hope that's a joke..... If not you'll, never learn anything doing those things. You will however manage to make a few guys mad.
  16. LOL, you are definately right on with that one. You'd think the cigarette boats are having a race from the yacht club to the chute. Throw in a house boat or two, a fishing boat or two and you have downright crazy wakes. I've been bounced out of my seat trying to traverse that area in the summer.
  17. *sniff, sniff* Me thinks I smell a troll.... I was thinking the same thing....another one crawled out from under his bridge.
  18. This topic has come up here in PA to. Our state record is 11lbs 3 oz. I Point blank asked a PA Fish and Boat Commission Officer what one could do if he or she caught a bass they thought tied or exceeded the state record while the bass season is closed. His answer, you are not permitted to possess a bass whatsoever in the closed season. You may fish for them but it is catch and immediate release. It would be ok to snap a pic or two, maybe even weigh it on a certified scale if you have one in your boat. By no means can an angler rope the fish or put it in a livewell and transport it for any reason.
  19. I think that a toothy critter may bump a bass from a specific little piece of cover like a log or small patch of weeds (if there are any with the water temp that low) but all in all I don't think that the presence of predators will all together move bass out of an area. I often catch multiple species of fish in the same area. In Spring bass are moving shallow to find the warmest water (shallow warms before deeper water), to feed, and ultimately to spawn.
  20. A Pittsburgh PA legacy is a sandwich from Primanni Brothers. Beside the original location still being open, they now have several locations outside the City. This sandwich is on really thick Italian bread, grilled ham (or steak), and piled with cole slaw and french fries. If your ever in Pittsburgh you just have to try one.
  21. "You just can't cure stupid".......... I see it as job security 8-)
  22. Soon as the ice is gone! To date, my best day really early there was March 27, the ice had been totally gone for less than 1 week. That day me and a friend caught over 30 and water temps ranged from 44-48 degrees. May I add that they were all largemouth. Smallmouth can also be caught just after ice out. I'm speaking of the bay of course.......As far as the main lake goes, it usually takes a little longer for the ice to melt but once it does the smallmouth fishing can be great. It's kind of fun fishing the bay just after ice out. It's common to have to dodge ice bergs that blow in the channel from the main lake. 8-) PM me if you would like more info. Here's a pic from the March day I mentioned.
  23. I've never experienced the hookup problems, but we never exceed 1/8 oz. weight. We rarely fish water over 6' deep. Thanks 8-)
  24. Johnson Silver Minnow w/ pork trailer worked over the pads. If that didn't work I'd leave, I hate fishing pads
  25. This time of year??? With a water temp like 64 I'd be looking for spawners.....
