My pics here are REALLY deceiving, I'm still wishing I would have had more time and a better camera so I could have taken better, quality photos. Had we not been fishing a tournament we would have taken more time with what we had but I wanted to keep fishing as we were having a pretty good day. What the pic does not show, this fish was really FAT. Look at the pic, you can hardly see the guys hand. This fish was also long. The way he is holding it takes away from capturing it's length. I may never catch another ski this big!

No offense, but as I mentioned, I did measure it. It was definately within an inch or two of 50, if not 50 on the money. As I also mentioned, pics did not reveal the true size of this fish. Had we not been fishing a tournament we would have taken more accurate measurements. It was hot, the fish was tired, and we wanted to get it back into the water plus get back to getting bass. I guess some people just don't believe unless they see it for themselves :-/

Caught this dude by accident while fising a bass tournament. Definately the largest musky I have ever caught. My partner holding the fish had trouble lifting it over the side. I didn't have a tape to measure it but I put my 24" dink board on it, it was 2 dink boards plus about 2" making it right around 50 inches. Weight?, I have no clue since I don't fish for these things.......definately over 30 pounds though!

While watching the video I found myself laughing out loud. Not quite sure why, maybe because it's now 0315 hrs, I've only had 4 hours sleep and have to leave in 15 minutes and drive about 65 miles for a tournament......... Ok, what I was laughing at........that LIZARD. I've gotta tell you, if that thing dosen't look like something swimming for it's life because a largemouth the size of jaws is chasing it! Poor little guys legs and tail are a flapping like crazy trying to get away LOL! I will definately have to pick up a pack or two for my carolina rigs!

Ya know........... I've owned a few Humminbird units, quite honestly I was never impressed with them, Lowrance and Garmins units seemed to be easier to use and overall better..... These days though, it appears that Humminbird is on to something with this side imaging. I too have been really considering purchasing one. TO THE GUYS WHO ARE USING ONE: When you look at the screen and your boat is in the center, imaging pics to right and left, how far out does the beams go? Just looked at a 797 this weekend and it said 150 right and left, is that 150 feet or degrees? When you see an image appear on the screen, is it shown upright? Some of the imaging pics I've seen look a little confusing, alomost like they are sideways.

My former GPS which is now lying in it's final resting place had no memory card or way to back-up info. My new GPS has the capability to back stuff up on computer. Most definately will be done. I didn't dive right in because drowning my self over a $75 GPS would be plain dumb plus I was alone in the boat and the wind was blowing. If I went in pretty good chance my boat would have blown away. This was a HANDHELD GPS, not a fixed mount. I have a fixed mount in my ProCraft, in my small lake boat I use the handheld.

My title should about say it all. Sunday morning, pouring down rain off and on, there I am, out in the boat and practicing for a tournament in 2 weeks. Wasn't doing much fishing, more cruising around and marking cover on structure. If I saw something on the sonar I would fish it, if I got bit I would mark a waypoint. Keep in mind I have been doing this style of fishing at this particular lake for 2 years, I had 50 waypoints, ALL offshore. Pick up my handheld GPS to mark a waypoint. The screen has water on it. I gently shake it off, the friggin thing slipped out of my hand and BLOOP........in it went. I was in 14 feet of water, and in the middle of nowhere :'( :'( :'( After punching myself in the head, I drove straight to the ramp, trailered the boat, drove straight to Gander Mountain which is an hour away, bought a new GPS. Now I have to start all over again, that's the part that hurts. All those places I was catching fish, and not small ones either, nice fish, most over 3 lbs with 4's and 5's mixed in. I'm gonna be sick again.........

Catt, all well said! Finding offshore spots can be absolute honey holes. My boat dosen't even realize there is a bank this time of year. Just last evening for example I found a big stump on a point in about 10 fow. In 5 casts to the stump I landed two 4's, two 3's, and a 2.5. About 10 casts later I landed another 3. 5 fish going roughly 19 lbs and in 20 minutes or less. Scary thing is that I have other spots that I call better than that one, but that one ain't bad Good read!

The paper tourney idea is a good one. Just a note, I think if your lake is open to the public and your going to have more than 10 participants, the PAFBC requires a permit. You may want to contact your Regional office just to make sure.

What I was thinking........

I would think that 15-20 fow would be pretty good right now. Those fish should be just about over the spawn and holding on breaks, humps, rockpiles in 15-20. I wouldn't rule out 20-30 fow either.......

Maryland guys, I will be traveling to fish the North East River area out of Anchor Marina in early October. Can ayone help me out on what to expect? Favorite baits, presentations, etc...??? for that time of year. Can't seem to find too much info on the river and surrounding waterways. Thanks for any help.

Odd......... I have never had an issue with a BPS order. I placed an order just this past Friday and it will arrive here tomorrow.

Dink Master, you may get a ton of suggestions...... My advice, handle as many flippin sticks as you can. If it feels good in your hands (with a reel on, that's important!) and it's a known brand, you can afford it, then buy it! So often a flippin stick will wear you out! If one feels good in your hand it's less likely to fatigue you. Just my .02

I stay at the Inn at Presque Isle. It is very close to the Penninsula and they offer a "fisherman's discount". All you have to do is tell them you are staying with them while on a fishing trip. It clean and cheap!

A 55lb thrust should do fine for you. When you get above 55lb motors, your probably looking at getting into 24 volt so if you want to stay at 1 battery then a 55lb 12 volt will be your best choice. Now, I noticed you said "against the current'. Are you planning on using it on a river where there is always current? AND, how much current? I had 2 different aluminum boats, a 16 footer and an 18 footer, both had jet drive outboards and I used them on a river that always had current of varying speeds. I had 55 lb 12 volt motors on both and I ALWAYS wished I had at least a 65 lb 24 volt. If I was buying another river boat like those I would most definately buy a 24 volt.

Hit Wilhelm again this morning, helping a friend pre-fish for a club tourny this weekend. Man, we absolutely WHACKED 'em! I'm really not sure how many fish we caught, if I had to venture a guess it would be 30+ between the 2 of us. As far as bigguns, I had a rocky day. I had 4 fish in the 4-5 lb range jump off, 2 at the boat and 2 on their first jump after hooking them. What a stringer I would have had with those 4 in the boat. I love that lake
