  1. Most of my fishing is done with 6'6 - 7' m or mh rods, but I have stuff that ranges from Ul to a rig I can cast pounders with all day if I desire. For spinnerbaits, I'm with Hillbilly, mh rod and braid. I prefer casting gear for spinnerbaits, but have used spinning and it works
  2. I use it with spinners. I guess the primary pro to it is you really feel the fish smack the bait, the downside is I lose more baits to pike using braid than anything else. Anymore, I am rarely pulling baits through trees or anything like that, so if you are doing those things alot I think the abrasion resistance might also be a con, but for weeds its great. Never have a problem with hook-ups, either.
  3. If you know what size the Rapala's are you can go to the Bass Pro website and it will tell you what size VMC hooks they use under other specs on the lure description.
  4. I can't believe Leonard went before Sullinger. Sullinger might have a back problem, Leonard has a definite toughness problem and just isn't that good yet
  5. yea, under low light conditions its usually easier to get fish to come out of the weeds, under bright conditions it seems you usually have to go in after them. at least i think thats what the issue is. not worried about throwing and retrieving other than I keep hearing getting them to do 180's is key at times, and thats not something I am sure I can do without seeing the bait.

    Ok

Generally speaking, its something I do in light cover or failry open water situations. I rig it on a light or UL setup with the hook exposed. It sounds goofy, but I've been using it since I got my first pack of roboworms over 10 yrs ago. I don't know that it offers any real advantage other than I never have any problem with hook penetration with light line. if it matters in what I consider clear water I user 4-6 lb flourocarbon. Its something I only do on wieghtless on splitshot rigs, and maybe its just a bad habit I should quit.

    Ok

Ok, I know I do things a little differently than most people, but does anyone else use aberdeen hooks on finesse worms? I've been doing it for awhile, and at times it works for me, just wondered.
  8. In your neck of the woods you would be lucky if the women shaved their armpits.
  9. I was kind of hoping for something I could work over the tops of weeds, which gives me 2-3 foot usually. Maybe along some open edges. In all honesty, most of my summer bass come out of weedbeds, with pike holding the deeper areas. Small pike are everywhere though. One or two lakes I fish have musky in them and they don't seem so temperature sensitive. When it comes to the size, I know pike seem to key in on that size range in the winter, and I've picked up some real nice bass on tip -ups by accident, so I am just kind of guessing it would be appealing to bass in the summer.
  10. for lures the sk bitsy minnow or 1/16 oz beetle spin type lures can't be beat if he is up to that. Pretty much cast and straight retrieve works, if he prefers the cast and wait, the worm and bobber is the way to go.
  11. I did know about his hardbait line and have heard very good things about it, however I'm not willing to spend that on one lure until I am sure I can make it work for me and not lose it to toothy critters. I have not seen a bluegill swimbait in koppers line up?
  12. I was thinking more along the hardbait lines, but I will definitely consider those
  13. How many other guys wives/gf's are waiting in line to see Majic Mike right now?
  14. Anyone have any recommendations for bluegill style swimbaits in the $20 or so price range? I think the 4" size range would work best for me, other than that I just don't want to spend alot on something I'm not sure how well I will enjoy fishing. Also, can you work the sinking models decently without being able to see the bait? Also, if any of you throw these in pike or musky waters, can you run a heavy mono or flouro leader without killing the action?
  15. Its those drunk people on jet skis and pontoon boats that annoy me. Some people will complain about anything, but for the most part the bass guys around here are far more laid back than the salmon or musky guys I know. A few of the tournament guys I know have some healthy egos, though. I lost count of how many times I've been called lucky. The only thing I've ever heard about bass fishermen is they need to go for something a little more challenging tbh. Usually from walleye guys, which makes me laugh.
  16. You should ask my wife about red hooks. Somehow on our honeymoon it seemed like every late night fishing show we watched had something about red hooks on it. She still brings that up.
  17. Given this, if there is anything you are unsure about I'd suggest spending a couple hundred dollars to have a lawyer review it before signing. Call one or two and see what they want.
  18. I rarely give mine time to float honestly, I'm more worried about the side to side action. I did some searching on here awhile back, and catt I believe, had a pretty good write up about the way I also like fishing jerkbaits. With the right action they can elicit quite a few reaction bites imo. Granted, there's also a real good chance fish in the lakes near me don't ever get stressed from summertime temps, and will locate wherever they can find food.
  19. I will also suggest reading your employee handbook if you have one. If you happen to live in an "At-Will" state there will often be a clause stating something like guarantee of hours or duration of employment is only valid if signed by president, ceo, whatever of CO. If that is the case I would recommend getting the proper signatures to ensure the company recognizes its validity. Or at least make it a little easier on you in the case of a dispute.
  20. They work in summer and fall as well. I prefer aggresively worked floating models if I use one in the summer is all.
  21. I'm pretty sure I kept at least one yard stick manufacturer in business as kid as many as got broke on my behind. Thing is, the taste of soap left a far more lasting impression. So here's the question, between yard sticks, belts and willow switches, which is most effective?
  22. Yea, we had a brief cool down today, but its been one of the warmest and driest springs/summers so far I can remember. Supposed to be 100 here Thursday and stick in the 90's for awhile. So take her easy, heat kills more people than the cold does I hear.
  23. Either a Tylure Sunfish or Jackall Giron
  24. If you want a use for it makes good leader material for pike or musky as well. Could probably use it to save a spinnerbait or two..
  25. Order this in 80 - 100 lb test and make some leaders http://www.basspro.com/Offshore-Angler-Extreme-Fluorocarbon-Saltwater-Leader/product/2289/43822
