  1. He doesn't want a dime for it and has the title. The neighbor pays the utilities on it, its been used a few times since he purchased the property to house extra guests. But now its time for it to go one way or another. My neighbor comes up maybe twice a year, so to him having someone get rid of the eyesore is more important than worrying about splitting the money.
  2. Thanks, its not all about the price per pound, though. Its also about the fact I've been working 70+ hrs a week with no signs of slowing down. Thought it would, but my boss fired the other guy in my position and said he wasn't going to rehire at this time. So right now, I am just hoping I don't fall asleep at work and putting everything else on autopilot..
  3. i know what you mean, although I don't spend as much time on there as I used to. I bought my dad a full collection of antique Paw Paw lures off there one year because I didn't know what else to get him for Christmas (the wattafrog is pretty cool though) and have countless add ons to musky baits I wanted that I didn't really want. Usually sell or give away the "add-ons" after I collect a few too many.
  4. I know some guys like that. its OK until they start throwing my medium diving "poppers" over 2 foot weedy flats on 6lb test spinning tackle. Needless to say, they can't afford anything more than a WalMart special and a bobber. They may think they are smart, but that is a one and only time type of deal. If you are that dumb keep your feet on the bank, you don't deserve a boat ride. Sorry for the rant, but I've taken idiots out once or twice thinking or hoping they knew a few things only to find out they were FOS. Not into wasting my time and lures.
  5. Its just a regular single wide, I would pretty much offer it up for free or next to free if it was worth anything to anyone just so I don't have to mess with it now that my dumb hiney volunteered to help get rid of it.
  6. Well the lakes I fish are more weeds than anything, so I'm not real sure. I've done well on spinnerbaits and jigs in timber and rocks, but who knows. Add in some soft plastics and squarebills you should be set imo. Particularly since they seem to be shallow lakes. Pretty much anything you can bring through and bang off the cover while working the structure should be great. I happen to enjoy bringing spinnerbaits and jigs through limbs and off rocks, but they may not be the best option, crankbaits being a close second for me. Hopefully others can join in with more experience in those type lakes.
  7. Weeds, timber, rocks? Depth, forage?
  8. Does anyone here know what is involved with moving a trailer/mobile home? My neighbor has one we are looking to remove, and our first thought was to scrap it, but since its fully furnished we thought maybe it would be worthwhile for someone looking for something to plop down on a few acres for deer camp. I'm not sure that would be cost effective, though. Anyone here have any input? All I know is the wheels are gone and you'd have to disconnect the utilities. it was on the property when he purchased it a few years ago, but no one has lived there since. He doesn't live close by, so is looking for some help in removing this. Any input or anything else that you need to know, please let me know.
  9. Just depends. Anywhere from 5 days a week to one or two days a month. Work and home come first.
  10. Here's my input. When fishing weightless with a T-Rig watch your bait and twitch it back. At least where I fish the water tends toward clear and you can see what your bait is doing. I do well with an erratic back and forth, almost walk the dog type action, but with pauses. Start experimenting and you'll be amazed what you can do with soft plastics.
  11. Yea I'm not sure who sanctions college bass fishing, but it will fall under different rules than the NCAA. Although I guess there are occasional 40 yo competing in college athletics as long as they haven't competed professionally in that sport. Wayy back in my younger years I competed in NIRA. We could compete both as professionals and as college athletes at the same time, but had age restrictions, higher GPA standards, and no cushy jobs or free school tutors, while still traveling for 12 three day weekends a year. It was a blast and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Met lots of good people and was able to finish my schooling without taking any loans.
  12. It might help to know what the water you fish is like.
  13. Lately Bells Oberon or Goose Island 312, but my favorite changes every month or two.
  14. I'd guess the boaters and coaches are volunteer positions or it would get too costly
  15. Never mess with an $8/hr government employee on a power trip. It will not end well.
  16. Same here, had no issues with reels. I did put a lock on a checked suitcase full of lures and found the lock broke and all the lures and contents rummaged through and messed up. Seems like they shouldn't have a hard time finding a less invasive, more accurate method of bomb detection, but whatever.
  17. With spinnerbaits, blade size and color are the two most important things as far as I'm concerned. 1/2 - 3/4 oz with a 4.5 or 5 willowleaf is pretty much my standard, but thats not to say thats what would work where you are.
  18. try the size 3 floating rapala.. it comes in rainbow trout and is the size you are looking for
  19. I don't believe they are in natural lakes around me. Most of the natural lakes here are bowl shaped and spring fed, even in the drowned river mouths there isn't a real channel Here's Muskegon Lake, which is where the Muskegon River enters Lake Michigan http://www.dnr.state.mi.us/SPATIALDATALIBRARY/PDF_MAPS/INLAND_LAKE_MAPS/MUSKEGON/MUSKEGON_LAKE.PDF
  20. As far as what it looks like on a map, its represented by the squiggly line running pretty much through the center of this small impoundment. On the fish finder you'll notice the dropoff is the best I can describe it. http://www.dnr.state.mi.us/SPATIALDATALIBRARY/PDF_MAPS/INLAND_LAKE_MAPS/ALPENA/FLETCHER_POND.PDF
  21. one of the launches near me has this problem solved. you have to back straight across a busy two lane highway . get in and get out or get hit, not the place to take your time.
  22. Around here that would pass for a tackle store if you had some minnows and crawlers.
  23. I saw them in concert at a small nightclub maybe 10 years ago. Not a huge fan but for five bucks we just had to go
  24. Spooks are my favorite, although my largest topwater bass came on a crazy crawler. There's just something about the Spook I like. Haven't tried too many of the "newer" topwaters out there.
