  1. There is usually a running thread called KC fishing report or something like that, If I see it I will send you a link
  2. Welcome, there are a handful of folks from around Wichita, and a bunch from up North near K.C., keep your ears open for fishing reports and you will soon figure out where to go to catch some fish.
  3. I had this surgery done back in 1997 or so. It is no doubt a painful surgery, there is no way to kill the pain in the bone and it will be sore for up to a year. With that said the best thing I done was got it out of the sling and started making myself use it for everyday tasks, getting that range of motion back as soon as possible is the key to a quick recovery. Best of luck, I am happy I had mine done.
  4. I didn't think Mike McClellend made the Classic this year. You may be right, I have to admit that I did not check the field. I am just use to him being there, he did have marginal season last year and may not have made it in. Well at any rate, I hope he pulls off a big win this year.
  5. I would like to see Mike McClellend pull off a big win.
  6. The main gear floats on the drive shaft, it is pressure from the drag that allows it to turn. No drag pressure, no turn.
  7. Camp stove fuel works well, especially on bearings with polymers in their construction.
  8. Easier too feel and keep in contact with in deep water
  9. Coleman fuel works well on polymer bearings
  10. If you are spending 100 dollars on jigs, you can afford to get several different weights, they are all usable in different situations, and 1 weight in not always better than the other. As far as rods go, I recommend you spend your money wisely and get the most sensitive rod that you can afford, IMO this above everything else is the most important aspect of serious jig fishing. 2 average to good rods will pale in comparison to one outstanding rod.
  11. P-line is a good line, it is very strong for its diameter, I use to use floroclear in 12lb test but found it just a tad unmanageable without a line conditioner, I switched to CX and have been very satisfied.
  12. First I would never use grease in a spool bearing, the bearing will be easier to oil, and easier to flush if it does get contaminated, it also reduces the hydraulic tension caused by oil against the shield and the balls and cage of the bearing. ABEC 7 orange seal ceramics are almost always run with the seals removed, no difference here. This is how I prefer to run my bearings, the only down side that I have noticed Is that they are slightly louder without the shields/seals.
  13. Norman DD22, Spro Little John DD, 6th Sense 300DD, Strike King 6XD, there are a lot of others but these are easy to find and work well in most situations.
  14. It's fine to use it without the shield, if it were mine I would remove the other side as well.
  15. That is certainly a good option, but it kinda makes Shimano look bad because the justification for all of the current changes was the economy and they could no longer produce a reel with the quality of the Curado at its then current price.
  16. Well kind of, the Chronarch 50e is the Curado 50e. I guess what I am asking is what would they take away from the Chronarch 50e to produce a lesser priced Curado 50g and would that reel still be attractive enough to interest anyone.
  17. Jackal Iobee frog in either bluegill or brown, these things catch fish.
  18. Shimano Curado E with a longer carbon fiber handle, either comes with level wind bearings or the ability to add them, and a dual braking system.
  19. What would you like to see in a new 50 sized reel? They have the Curado/Chronarch 50E and the Core 50, what would the new 50 series look like.
  20. If I am not mistaken there is a DC version of the Curado E, of course it is a Scorpion. So it would be something easy for Shimano to do. http://://www.tackletour.com/images12/buttonscorpiondc7021.jpg

  22. I know the problem that you speak of, the BPS hooks have a larger eye than many and work as a cheap solution. Gamakatsu has a 2/0 and 4/0 ewg hook that has a welded steel ring in them, in my experience they work the best. Here is the link http://www.gamakatsu.com/fishing-hooks.php?pid=1159.
  23. Take a look at what the Elite guys did in the Classic last year. It was very cold and they were still catching good numbers of quality fish, the weekend after the classic there was a new lake record LG Mouth caught on the same lake. I suspect that the baits they used did not change all that drastically from what they use throughout the year, but I would bet the presentation changed quite a bit. Might be worth a look.
