  1. Gloomis NRX JWR 853 for the rod and the Revo Premier IB JDM for the reel.
  2. While gear ratio is one of the factors that affect IPT the larger part of it is torque, if you are fishing high resistance type baits then a lower gear ratio reel will be of benefit. If you are primarily throwing med and low resistance baits I suggest you focus more on IPT and not worry about gear ratio.
  3. I had a couple, I am not sure that they perform any better than some of the other quality baits on the market like the Yellow Magic or LC, heck even the POP R will catch you a lot of fish.
  4. Have you seen them before they get feathers?
  5. TDZ -100M handle assembly here, along with other options. http://tackletrap.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=898_660_654&zenid=6b348c6c2d712be66cd6b54298f538fa
  6. A guy I know always fishes pink under bridges, thinks that it imitates a baby bird falling off the bridge into the water.
  7. Lots of variables when looking for a crankbait rod. Do you prefer Glass, composite or graphite? Are you fishing from the shore or a boat, as length of rod may be a factor. One thing to keep in mind is that crankbaits rods do not require a lot of sensitivity as they are a reaction type bait, it is good to be able to feel what the bait is doing but you do not need the same sensitivity you would need in a bottom contact type bait. I would suggest looking at a St.Croix Premier, a Falcon Bucoo or one of the Ducket rods, all well within your price range. If you want something a little nicer, try to find a Dobyns 704C or 705C crankbait rod used for around 150-160.
  8. Pro Qualifier has dual braking and is well within your budget, you might even be able to pick up an entry level BPS rod and stay within 150.
  9. Top one, clear water, enough wind to cause a ripple on the water, partly cloudy. Bottom one is a sexy shad variant and KVD says they can be fished with success in most any water color. Spinner baits have been most effective for me in rippled water with overcast, partly cloudy skies.
  10. I prefer the taste of wood or charcoal grills. I do understand the convenience of gas, but I just don't think you get the same level of flavor.
  11. 1 of them has a TDZ 100M spool, the other is from a Zillion, not much difference in the Zillion from the stock spool, but it is red and looks a little better but the 100M is a nice upgrade. The one with the 100M spool should be the equivalent of the TDZ US Trail type reel.
  12. Thank you, I have a Sol that I have done a little work to also, I like it a lot, but for some reason I prefer the Fuego.
  13. I have a couple that I have modified to my liking, they are very nice reels, I have never understood why the Sol, a nice reel also , got most of the praise. I have never fished a Pinacle so I will reserve my comments, the older Patriarch was a good reel, it was just very heavy by comparison, but very smooth. I have played with the newer Pflueger LP reels in the store, but they did not trip my trigger.
  14. Get those batteries checked so you can eliminate anything bad with them. Do you have anything else connected to the same batteries? If the batteries check good, you got to start thinking about a bad motor.
  15. Mostly private stuff, when I fish out of town I like Butler and Melvern. I live very close to Watson, but have not fished it in years, any fish still left in that place?
  16. That would be a series circuit and is how it should be setup for a 24V system. Might charge the batteries good with your charger, and then take them and have them load tested, it would eliminate 1 possibility. Also are you using a heavy gauge wire from the batteries to the trolling motor?
  17. Nice combo, enjoy!
  18. how do you have the batteries setup, are they in a parallel or series circuit. Those batteries should easily last 8hrs without any problems. I recommend an onboard type battery charger as they have programs built in to run your batteries through a proper charging cycle. Good luck.
  19. When they killed the looney tune cartoons due to their violence, that was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I really enjoyed Willie E. Coyote and the Road Runner.
  20. Welcome to the forums, where do you fish in Wichita?
  21. I have had the best luck with these colors, most work well in either clear or stained water, old glory, spooky nasty, and chrome olive, not sure they make these in all sizes but they have produced for me.
  22. A majority of my rods are Falcon Cara's, I was just looking at that very rod yesterday. It is a nice stout rod, and would work well for your heavier jigs, you could even throw frogs with it. I don't do much punching so my experience is limited on what would make for a good punching rod.
  23. I did get some line twist with the President, but It was not horrible, I have not experienced it with other Pflueger models, I do close the bail by hand after a cast, as it seems to help prevent any line twist on all reels.
  24. childish is backhanded comments,
