  1. Hey guys I want to thank you for the suggestions of where to store the boat. We got it figured out. Also, Clayton- When I watched that video of your test drive, I thought to myself, "There is no way that's Clayton. There aren't enough rods in the boat!"
  2. Hey guys my family is coming to town from South Dakota this Thursday through the following Sunday (1/29-2/8) and bringing their 5th wheel camper to head south. The problem is, the place they were going to store the 5th wheel for the week and a half while staying at my place isn't going to work. Does anyone have a place to store or know of a place to store it for that time frame?

With a spinning reel, you can just slip a finger out to grab the line.
  4. I understand the feeling of not wanting to throw a color that doesn't look natural but think about this. Have you ever seen a black and blue crawfish or a green pumpkin worm? Clown does work...especially for smallmouth. They are a very curious fish and a lot of times will hit stuff just to see what it is. My advice to you would be to go to Melvern for smallmouth or somewhere with a healthy population of white bass for confidence. If you can find a school of whites, you can catch them on every cast. That will give you confidence to try it other places.
  5. I would but... I would find a boat I want and not be able to buy. I'm out until I can afford a new boat unfortunately.
  6. Well turns out I will be able to make the dinner but can't stay. Just dropping some stuff off and picking some up. My vote goes to Beaver but I am questionable at best for going.
  7. Chiropractor
  8. My wife also has her own technique. She had a bit of weeds on her Ned so she had about 4' of line out and started jerking it back and forth to rip the weeds off (so she didn't have to get her hands dirty). I kid you not! A school of 3 smallmouth came up after it and attacked it. I think the best thing about the Ned rig is that anyone can use it. It is great for beginners because it doesn't involve a special shake or speed. AND... it does NOT just catch small fish!
  9. I won't be able to make it. Family is coming into town that evening
  10. I had a friend do a very similar thing back in high school. A telemarketer called asking for his mother. He pretended to start sobbing saying that she passed from cancer a two weeks ago (I was there to witness the whole ordeal and it was pretty convincing). The telemarketer immediately apologized for calling and disturbing the family. A week later the house received a bouquet of flowers with a sympathy card HANDWRITTEN! His mother (who was not deceased) was so confused when the flowers came.
  11. Doc because I became a doctor in April Drew because its what everyone calls me - between the two because...well just because!
  12. I feel like it would be a whole heck of a lot easier to drop someone on a cable from a helicopter like when they rescue people!
  13. Ned rig. When the bite gets slow, cast one of those out. They are great for beginners too. Very easy to use and catches everything!
  14. What they said
  15. Nice! Funny because my dad just texted me with a picture similar to that saying hes going to try to make that design next.
  16. I'd be up for Beaver or the pits. The nice thing about the pits- wind won't be as big of a factor in most of them. But if I have to pick one, I would say Beaver. I would love the chance to hook into a 10+lb striper
  17. Looks like a beautiful day for fishing haha.
  18. Makes sense Thanks
  19. One question, how did you make the bone color?
  20. Blue back yellow belly jerk works
  21. I usually change mine with Gamakatsu short shanks. Some times (especially with the RC STX) you have to experiment with hooks, split rings, etc to get it to suspend correctly. Good thing it was on Curt's bait then!
  22. For those of you that use Luck-E-Strike RC STX, here is a reminder to change the hooks. I happened to be using the only one of the RC STX that still had stock hooks. This was from one wiper that hit (or should I say destroyed) and ran then came off. It happened a couple times. The final straw was when about a 12" white straightened them. Knew it was time to change

  24. Can't forget the fish the "Curt Special" caught... All kidding aside, that jerkbait worked really well for me including catching the largest of the day. Thanks again Curt!
