  1. Has anyone figured out if Academy is offering the 50e online for Black Friday, or is it only in-store?
  2. Even though $9k falls squarely in the range on the NADA value for the boat?
  3. I hear you on the single console vs dual. Regarding NADA pricing, here is how they come in: Triton: $22,300 new, currently $8,000 to 9,130 (low retail to average retail) Ranger: $23,500 new, currently $8,000 to 9,110 (low retail to average retail) So basically, they are identical when it comes to the NADA price and what each is willing to accept. Both look to be above NADA, but also include electronics, trolling motors, and trailers that aren't included in NADA, correct? You can see why they are so close in my mind...anyone with experience on both exact boats, or similar boats?
  4. Welcome! Just a word of warning, bass fishing is very addicting, and very expensive! Trust me, going from no gear to >$2,000 of hardware in 3 months just goes to show you were I came from...now I'm looking at used bass rigs for $10-12k, which is on the cheap end! On the fish, when you first start, you always think they are heavier than they are...I'd say your big one is probably something like 1.75-2 lbs, just based on the length and girth.
  5. I actually picked up my first Mojo spinnerbait rod off Craigslist last month (7' MH/F), and I have to say, not a fan. Too heavy for my liking, and not a fan of the split handle with tear-drop cork bottom. I'll be looking to sell mine on CL and in the Flea Market within the next few days. I know many people like the SC Mojo, but I'm not one of them so far... On the other hand, I really do like the Premiers and Avids.
  6. Wow...thanks for all of the responses so far! As long as no one tries to get these boats from me , I thought I'd include both ads on Craigslist Let me know what you think! #1) Triton #2) Ranger
  7. Got it, I'll make sure to ask. Is it pretty atypical to have a newer model engine on a boat like that?
  8. I really appreciate your response...would your answer change knowing the Triton was owned by a pro and the Ranger isn't? Also, the Ranger has a higher HP engine; wouldn't that typically be running faster?
  9. I've had a few posts regarding my hopes to buy a new bass boat soon. For the same price, same condition, basically same electronics...would you guys go with a '02 Triton TR-185 or a '99 Ranger R83? Same length, both have Merc engines ('04 150 xr6 on Triton, '99 175 efi on Ranger). Dual console on Ranger, single on Triton. After some negotiating with each guy, both are set at around $9,700-9,900. Decent deal? Either way, I'm looking for whatever insight you guys can provide on both models. Thanks! EDIT: Ranger is now gone. Check last posted for new information and advice!
  10. 30/70 rod vs reel on power fishing 70/30 rod vs reel on finesse fishing
  11. Silent 0-3 ft crank? KVD 1.0 Blackback Chartreuse. $5 at Cabelas or Dick's here in the Twin Cities metro.
  12. If I bought one of their rods through BPS last week online, would that count (it was a Vendetta, so I'm at the $79.95 or greater)?
  13. 100% incorrect right back at you; TW doesn't have them, nor does anyone else. You have the ability to order them through TW and other sites, but they won't ship for at least a month or two. Check the shipping dates.
  14. If you want a solid rod for the money, get the Vendetta. If you want a better rod, with a 1000% better chance of it snapping or guides breaking off, get the Veritas. It's worth the extra $20, but you're taking a bigger gamble that you'll be out a rod when you need it on the water.
  15. I don't believe they'll be out until early winter at the earliest. All of the reviews I've seen were from people taking pics at iCAST, no real world fishing reviews. If you order now from TW, I think earliest ship dates are late November.
  16. Thanks for the response. It seems the Flambeau Bazooka only holds up to 6 1/2 ft rods, and since all of mine are 7', I'll need to find something bigger?
  17. Well, since I've purchased number of decent rods in the past month or so, I'm having a whale of a time when transporting them 2 hours to my cabin up north. I'm literally driving with the rods whacking my head on sharp turns. Therefore, I'm looking to get a decent rod carrying case that can hold up to 4-5 bait casting rods. All of my rods are 7', so a case that can carry at least that long of a rod would be preferred. Does anyone have any recommendations of quality rod carrying cases?
  18. I'm in the market, what rig are you trying to unload, and what asking price?
  19. Lighthouse keeper was the only thing I could think of...him being from a port town on the ocean added even more credence to those thoughts.
  20. I also participated in the survey...I could really use some line! (hint hint!)
  21. I ended up getting a Citica 200E off Craigslist last night as part of a combo with a Mojo 7' MH. The other setup I got was a BPS Pro Qualifier 6:4:1 w/a BPS XPS Extreme 7' MH. I paired the Citica with a Vendetta 7' M, and my 200E7 w/ the Mojo for frogs, plastics, etc. Man, I love the Citica set up...caught a 5 lb Northern, but I thought it was going to snap the rod (the Vendetta seems kind of weak?). Yet, I caught my personal best bass with the BPS PQ set up on a lipless crank 1/2 oz Fire Tiger Red Eye Shad (Strike King). They were destroying it today! Not a lot of them, but the ones I caught were quite good, including the 5.6 lb hog that I caught. I know that it doesn't seem like much to those from around the country, but here in MN, 5.6 is a pretty good bass. Here is a pic (I just wish I could get a picture of me holding some of the fish I catch! I practice C&R, and usually always fish alone):
  22. They only have LH ones left in both the Citica and Curado, hence the sale.
