Thanks Fishing Cowgirl! I'm not going anywhere. I'm going keep the chatter going on Women's Issues in Fishing...until they change drastically or carry me away in a body bag! I don't give up & I don't give in....I can be persistently persuasive. I think people give in - just to shut me up! Welcome Leslie! I too have a longwinded opinion on anything to do with Women Anglers. In fact, I usually have a longwinded opinion on something that I'm either knowledgeable about or when I disagree with something in print. I've never been able to say anything in 10 words or less. I speak & write in volumes!!!

I'm looking forward to meeting some of the other Bass Resource members. It's always great to be a part of a group of folks that have the same passion for what you enjoy doing the most. In this case of course, Bass Fishing is that passion. Some people like to watch NASCAR, I prefer to watch Dave Mercer, Zona, Tommy Sanders & Tripp Wheldon...etc. My only complaint with ESPN, The Outdoor Channel...etc.,is; there are no female anglers on any of the fishing programs. Women have at least broken down the walls to commentating in the world of the NFL & NBA...even Danica Patrick has broken down the walls in Stock Car racing & is well on her way to NASCAR. When will the world of Angling catch up?

I now work the BASSMASTER CENTRAL OPENS, ELITES ("BATTLE ON THE BAYOU") Tournaments & CLASSICS (2009 & upcoming Classic), including the final WBT, WBT AOY in 2009 with BASS/ESPN, as often I can. I'll work with BASS/ESPN again in February @ the 2012 Classic. They are a great group of people to work with as well as the anglers. Attached is a picture of me & Iaconelli @ the "Battle On The Bayou", weigh-in. He's looking for a weigh bag. His boat broke down, he left it tied up and rode in with someone else. As bad as his day was going - he was standing there talking to me about my sister who also lives in NJ. He wanted to know what area of the state was she was located from the town he lives in. Even though I'm not on the Women's Tournament Trail, I still try to be an advocate for them. I've seen the life and it isn't as glamorous as everyone thinks it is. You have to love what you do and give up a lot of home time... I want to see women like Pam Martin-Wells..etc, get the props they deserve. Mainly, because what they're getting paid, is not even a 3rd of what the men receive when they win....and guess what? It was in the same weather on the same day - that it was a 100 degree day or 28 degree, raining and the wind blowing 40 mph conditions. Just doesn't seem right...just saying!

One lady fished while passing kidney stones - literally laying down on the front of the deck while operating the trolling motor with her hands all day so her co-angler could still fish. The reason? "My co-angler paid $300 to fish in this tournament. I am NOT letting her down!" If anybody claims these women aren’t as tough as the men, they’re on crack! There is a lack of exposure to the world of Lady Bass Anglers - which severely minimizes the fan base interest. This in turn, lessens the available sponsorships that fund these ladies and keeps the women's tournament trails thriving. Look at the difference in the amounts given in winnings for a predominantly male to female tournament, such as AOY. There is no comparison! The winnings in dollar amounts are on different ends of the spectrum and it is not fair to these ladies because they fish through the same grueling conditions that the men do. But until the sponsors and the public get behind the female tournament trail - women like Pam Martin-Wells, will keep fighting the fight to keep the LBAA and all of the other women’s tournament trails viable. To the women of the fishing world, keep your heads held high and keep fighting the fight every step of the way. To the world I say; do not let their first names fool you; these women are as tough as the male anglers.
