  1. take 595 west to u.s 27. go north on 27 until you get to the broward/palm beach county line. There is a sign that says "leaving broward county" and another that says entering palm beach county. Look for a big brown sign that says Holy lands you can't miss it. MAKE A U-TURN. Then make your first right. thats the beginning, the canal is on your left and is easily 15 miles long to the pump house. There is also a boat ramp abut 5 miles in. Check it out on google earth.
  2. WOW!!! That is Awesome!!!! Way To Go Bro!!!!!
  3. How big was it? what area? I don't doubt sharks either and I've seen manatees also.
  4. Soflabassaddict, Any rain, lighting. thunder? How bad was the wind?
  5. Ok Ok, So who's fishing where this weekend including Friday? I was wondering who's going to lake O', holy lands, lox etc. I'm taking a cousin fishing Saturday, not sure where to go, was thinking lake O out of south bay.
  6. Like southfla said, there is no 1 frog that is the best but the spro popping frog is hard to beat. black or white.
  7. Congrats on your catch!!! A lot of pros have said, if they were given 1 lure to fish w/ it would be a jig. The confidence you are getting now in a jig, will also help in the future. #1 tool- confidence in a bait.
  8. Remember they have all-star week. Last year was the 1st for that I believe.
  9. If that is the one with the turn around to go back east, I did a lot better last week there than the holiday park reports lately. Also saw a 5 and 3-4 lber swimming by one of the weirs as i was going through. only fished for a few hrs. Caught maybe half dozen w/ the biggest like 2 lbs. The south shore on the north side of the alley was most productive. I was flipping mostly. I saw fwc out there so make sure your up to date on everything
  10. Not sure but I know there was one just caught up there that weighed over 18 pounds and nearly 4ft. They don't get that big here!
  11. TOADS zara spook devil horse torpedo chug bug
  12. Lake O weights are incredible!! after the spawn and still producing massive bags!
  13. That depends where and what conditions your fishing. Bank vs boat. Shallow vs deep. Drop shot vs flipping. etc.. Different set-ups are for different techniques/conditions
  14. If your on a budget, wal-mart sells a brand called banyon bay. They are not bad shirts for the price.
  15. Ya what he said. Also down here blue gill beds are grouped together right next to each other (sometimes in rows) and lmb are single beds spread around. If you see bass swimming around throw a spinner -bait or a swim-bait.
  16. I use to fish that water system all the time with a small jon boat. I've caught peacocks as well as LMB in there. Haven't bin there in a couple years. The really cold winter we had then killed most of peacocks.
  17. Wow No bites down south, that sux. Don't get discouraged. Like most said we all have had our fair share of blanking . Just curious, are you using a trolling motor with that canoe, or paddling? Investing in a trolling motor might aid in keeping the BF's interest in fishing. That way he won't feel like he's paddling his life away for no good reason . Ya, Fishing certain techniques from a canoe can be tuff. If your fishing side canals in Broward or palm beach, I would stick to a few certain techniques that are canoe friendly and try to get comfortable with them. I would suggest for top water a small chug bug, POP-R or a small skitterwalk. Also try a small rapala shad rap crankbait (black and white) 4-9 ft. I swear this lure attracts EVERY darn species in any water! When I bring beginners on my boat, this is what I give them to use ! Last but not least is a shakey head w/ a finesse worm or a small senko weightless or with like a 1/16 oz weight. I like the brand zoom for my finesse worms. For rod and reel use a 6'6 medium action spinning outfit w/ 8 maybe 10lb mono line. If you have two different spinning reels use mono only with the topwater, since it floats and use fluorocarbon for the others.
  18. Well, I hit up Lake O' Friday night to see what was biting. Started fishing around 3 a.m.. I used all sorts of top water baits with no success. At about 6 am when daylight started to crack, I switched to a spinner-bait and started to catch them steadily til about 8 a.m.. The bite slowed down a little and I was getting tired so I was off the water by 10 am. My biggest was like a 3 1/2. One thing I did notice during the night, there was a lot of fish splashing going on. I was in some really shallow water water 1-3 ft. I think my trolling motor was making the fish do this. Im pretty sure it was blue gills because one jumped in my boat .
