  2. WOW!!!! That is Awesome!!!! Good Job!!
  3. Tom Mann jr is another guide out of that area.
  4. Although I respect everyone's opinion on this matter, I would like to educate anyone who may read this thread on the laws in regards to possessing, releasing and transporting of nonnatives species in this GREAT State of Florida. This information is straight from myfwc and is no means an attack on anyone else's posts/comments or opinion on here. Again I just want to educate anyone who may read this thread on what the true laws are. Thank you Conditional and Prohibited Species Regulations It is illegal to release any nonnative species in Florida without a permit. The Florida Administrative Code and the Florida Statutes govern the importation and introduction of nonnative fish and wildlife: It is unlawful for any person to possess, transport or otherwise bring into the state or to release or introduce in the state any freshwater fish, aquatic invertebrate, marine plant, marine animal, or wild animal life that is not native to the state without a permit from the Commission, except fathead minnow, variable platy, coturnix quail, and ring-necked pheasant. ( 68-5.001, F.A.C.) It is unlawful to import into the state or place in any of the fresh waters of the state any freshwater fish of any species without having first obtained a permit from the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. (379.28, F.S.) It is unlawful to import for sale or use, or to release within this state, any species of the animal kingdom not indigenous to Florida without having first obtained a permit from the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. (379.231, F.S.) It is unlawful to import or possess any marine plant or marine animal, not indigenous to the state, which, due to the stimulating effect of the waters of the state on procreation, may endanger or infect the marine resources of the state or pose a human health hazard, except as provided in this section. (379.26, F.S.) You can read more detailed information about the Florida Statutes at http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/ and about the Florida Administrative Code at https://www.flrules.org/default.asp. http://myfwc.com/wildlifehabitats/nonnatives/conditional-prohibited-species/regulations/
  5. May I suggest practicing in the BACKYARD next time??
  6. Just like everyone else, congrats on a nice boat/truck! You have the right attitude in life about working hard to earn things. It is definitely sweeter that way..
  7. "Scientists with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) have uncovered a new species of black bass in the southeastern United States. Scientists have proposed naming the new species the Choctaw bass and recommended the scientific name ofMicropterus haiaka. They revealed their discovery at a meeting of the Southern Division of the American Fisheries Society earlier this year. FWC scientists first noted a DNA profile that did not belong to any recognized species while testing a bass specimen from the Chipola River in 2007, as part of a broader genetic study of bass. “We didn’t set out to find a new species,” said Mike Tringali, who heads the genetics laboratory at the FWC’s Fish and Wildlife Research Institute. “It found us.” After confirming the initial discovery, scientists searched for the DNA profile in bass caught in nearby rivers to determine the species’ range. They found that the Choctaw bass inhabits coastal river systems in Alabama and along the western Florida panhandle, including the Choctawhatchee River. “We chose the name ‘Choctaw bass’ because the species’ range overlaps the historic range of the Choctaw Indians,” said Tringali. “As for our recommended scientific name,Micropterus haiaka,‘haiaka’ is a Choctaw word that means ‘revealed.’” The American Fisheries Society must approve the suggested scientific name for it to take effect. The Choctaw bass is very similar in appearance to its relative, the spotted bass. The physical differences between the two species are not easily seen with the naked eye, one reason they had never before been distinguished despite decades of bass studies in the region." For more information about how FWC scientists discovered the new bass species, visit MyFWC.com/Research, click on “Freshwater,” and select “Black basses” under “Freshwater Sport Fishes.”
  8. Ya, season is over. Basically you just show up, sign up, put your boat in the water. Wait for tourney director starts calling #'s. Once yours is called, you off!!!. See you at weigh-in. During the tourney, you keep your best 5 fish ALIVE, in your live-well. Once you get back to the dock at said time, you put your fish in your weigh-bag and walk up to the scale. They will ask your # and they weigh your fish. That's about it. lol
  9. Great catches!!!! What color was the DT6?
  10. They biting giant worms?
  11. Nice! I agree, sure beats working!!!
  12. I use a steel wire leader with a swivel on one side and a split ring on the other with all my snakehead rigs. There only a couple of inches long. Haven't had a break off since. Also if your going to use hollow frogs, use the cheapest ones. They will tear them up quick. One more thing, superglue or silicone works wonders to patch puncture holes in the frogs
  13. WOW, what a low life landlord. If that was me?? I'm not sure if I could contain myself and do the right thing. lol
  14. Check craigslist if you have not already. Sometimes even in the garage sale section, they will list one. Just keep your eye out for one priced right. Plus 8 pallets is a lot of GRASS!
  15. Do a LOAD test on each Battery not just a voltage check. If they seem good charge them 100% then check the acid level in the trolling motor batteries. If there low add distilled water. Make sure to add the water after charging not before. Charging a battery raises the acid level. That way it won't leak out the caps.
  16. I don't see any pics
  17. A lot of factors determine how far your casting. I think if you don't maintain your reels bearings properly you will lose distance. How tight the drag is another. Heck some reels just flat out cast further then other models. Casting with heavy wind can add an extra 10 -15 yards. Rod length. Type of line. How heavy the lure is. etc etc
  18. Ahh, I recognize it now. I went out to the glades Saturday. I threw a 12 inch worm all in the pads but only landed dinks no matter where I went. I did catch a decent 3.5lber on a crankbait down one of the finger canals but that was it for size. I launched north of 75 on 27 so I only went a mile or so south of the alley. Stayed north and along the alley mostly.
  19. Your charging system can be a Ac and Dc system. I have both so when I run the boat the batteries are charging. Then when I get home I plug it in and charges it as well.
  20. you save your receipt? lmao
  21. Nice Hog Bruce! Where was the tourney out of?
  22. Here is a link to the daily lake level. 13.66 today. http://www.sfwmd.gov/portal/page/portal/xweb%20protecting%20and%20restoring/lake%20okeechobee
  23. Looks like some thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon but the winds will be pretty light at sunrise and in the a.m. The lake wouldn't be a bad idea with the wind being SSW tomorrow as well.
  24. Seeing so many empty beds I followed some deeper water out to the lake but it was way to windy to fish outside so I stayed on the inside trails. the small lilly pads is where I was getting bit in.
