  4. Nice report. Thanks for sharing..
  5. Any water connected to the water system around Glades and the Turnpike will definitely hold Peacocks and nice bass to.. .
  6. Sweet! What were they biting? Did you see any bait balls?
  7. Just read the article, I remember someone saying a cage was found on Guntersville just recently to. MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. (WAAY) - Two Marshall County men are accused of cheating in local bass tournaments. Thursday, Robert Gillaspie and Gary Minor were charged with tampering with a sport contest. While the charges are only misdemeanors, it's causing a lot of controversy among anglers. Alex Davis, a local angler on Lake Guntersville says, “Once a year you will hear rumors, but when someone actually gets arrested its very shocking.” Davis heard talk of the duo possibly cheating but chalked it up to gossip. He says, “I heard rumors about two weeks before it happened, but I just figured it was rumors. I’ve heard them before many times, when someone starts winning like that.” Sources say the men hid fish to use come competition time. Kay Donaldson, Alabama Bass Trail and Tournament Program Director says, “In any sport anytime there is a lot of money or a lot of prestige you are going to have that.” Donaldson says she’s disappointed this happened. She says, “I hate that it hit our sport. I even hate that it was here at home on our home waters.” The two men never entered any of the Bass Trail Tournaments. Donaldson says, “If you cheat you will get caught.” The owner of BassWhacker Guide Service in Guntersville posted a Facebook status on the incident Saturday after the two were seen in BassWhacker t-shirts. He declined to comment about the case, but his Facebook post says, "They are not employed by my business, they do not guide for me and they are not associated in any way with my business apart from a few t-shirts. I feel as deceived as everyone else!" Both Gillaspie and Minor are out of jail after posting $6,000 bonds.
  8. I've always understood it was a noise issue. Cables don't make as much noise when turning like electric does. Problem with the cable version is they brake all the time.
  9. They've definitely been spawning so postspawn would be the main phase there in . Although the 14th is a full moon so there might be a late wave of spawners but im not sure I would target them unless I saw one on a bed. Look for bait balls pockets and coves. If you find that usually the bass are there as well. They'll just about bite anything right now to.
  10. I would start in Weston or Pembroke Pines, there are LMB as well as P's there definitely. A lot of spots to bank hop all through out that area. Most of that area is good regardless where your at. Just be careful where you park, as there is a lot of no parking on the grass out there. As one mentioned before use google map to get familiarized with the area and then go hit up some spots. Most of the fresh water canals down here are not locked, meaning there are underwater pipes (that you might not see) that connect that water systems/ canals to one another one. So if you see a canal across the street from where your fishing, chances are it will hold the same species of fish. Culverts and pipes (that you do see) are great spots for LMB and P's to hang out to.
  11. I personally throw them on a weighted hook. That way it always run true. Rig it weedless. I usually do a constant retrieve as well. If bass are following it, stop retrieving it and they usually slam it. Wait a second to set the hook.
  12. Was thinking the same thing. At least start with a kayak.
  13. The time John Cox won, it was in a borrowed boat. I actually got paired up one time with the owner and that boat in a tournament. It was like a 16ft with a 75hp. It was cool to hear the story..
  14. Nice fish!! Glad everyone's info paid off for you!
  15. I would wait until you move to Florida. Then do a search for bass boats on craigslist with just the max amount your willing to pay and see whats for sale. Search the entire state. You will get more boat for your buck compared to other states. Your right about the wind and being blown around in aluminum boats, fiberglass would be the way to go. Trolling motor is a must to. After having a boat inspected like you said, I guess it would be the luck of the draw if your going to have future problems.
  16. Nice fish!!! Thanks for sharing..
  17. I'm in the NC/ Charlotte area quit a bit. Funny, I fished Wylie Friday, Hickory yesterday and Norman today . All lakes were active with spots and largemouth, lots of bites. I only managed 2 spots on Hickory but one was a nice 2 1/4. The other two lakes, I caught probably a dozen but nothing over 1-1/2 lbs. I've been throwing a shakey head mostly but I've caught them on spinner, jerk crank baits, A-rig, swim baits etc. Tried throwing a jig and carolina rig also but not takers.. Water temps are rising fast to, saw 71 today on Norman and mid 60's on Hickory. The new moon is coming, they''ll be some spawners moving up. Next full moon watch out!!
  18. Just plain Awesome!!! Weights like that are what dreams are made of!!!
  19. I've heard of them eating the black rubber on some vehicles, is that what they did to your truck? Try tying plastics publix style bags to the luggage rack, heard it keeps them away.
  20. Haven't fished out there is a while but try throwing a swimbait or frog or flipping a jig on the canals. There are big fish out there, so don't get discouraged. FYI, There is a speed limit out there and they radar/ give out tickets..
  21. Good luck this weekend fellas, go get umm!!!!
  22. I always wondered the same thing because a squeaky, clanking, loud buzz bait attract bites.
  23. Check out Big Island in the middle of the lake (northeast side of it ), or the North east side of the lake. I was there a few weeks ago and those areas were producing. There is also a nice size lily pad field on the North end you should fish.
