  1. I spent 20+ years dragging a boat all over Mexico. Paid the mordida many times and been scared a time or two. The truth is that it's actually worse in Mexico than the press tells you and I will no longer fish the Mexican lakes, I fish Falcon almost exclusively and have no issue with fishing the Mexican side other than the back of the Salado or around the town of Nuevo Guerrero in the Salinias arm. I hope that someday it will become safe enough to go back to Guerrero and El Salto but for now at least, it's not worth the risk.
  2. Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service: Shreveport: Angelina River at Lake Sam Rayburn About all I can come up with right now is lake levels.....LOW about 11 feet below conservation pool. Be very careful when running, especially in the Black Forrest area.
  3. Hello everyone, I'm Cmack from Onalaska, Tx. 55 years old and have been bass fishing since I was 7, Started out with an old South Bend casting reel that the handle turned backwards when you cast. Once I got that down everything else was a breeze. I fished Sam Rayburn and Toledo bend when there were still green leaves on the trees in the lake. I have really seen bass fishing evolve over the years. Spent 20+ years dragging a bassboat all over Mexico and am saddened that the violence of the drug cartels has made it unsafe but it is what it is. The closest I get to Mexico anymore is when I fish the Mexican side of Falcon. Looks to be a great and informative forum and I'll try to help where I can....................Cmack
  4. It could very well be the extra fast action that is causing you woe, I find that I put a lot more fish in the boat with a moderate fast action when fishing a jig, The slightly more progressive bend of the rod helps keep the hook more firmly nailed, I use a Falco FC-6-17 which is a relatively moderate fast rod and seldom lose a fish. Conversely my G Loomis BCR 875 while much stiffer and faster is also much harder to keep a fish hooked up on. Power Tackle touts the fact that their rods have a moderate fast action which helps not only with hook ups but durability also..........Cmack
