  1. Directions would be excellent, whenever you get the chance- no rush. I'm assuming its down by that sharp turn in Dickerson, down Martinsburg road I believe....but after that I'm clueless. It'll be a nice change of pace from BH and the neighborhood ponds i've been fishing. ....speaking of which, I hit up the bigger lake in the kentlands yesterday (inspiration) and although it was raining, I managed to get a decent amount of fish. I'd say every second or third cast landed me a fish. Definitely worth the trip, and the rain, even if the biggest was maybe 1.5lbs.
  2. Yup you read it right. It definitely wasnt anywhere near 40" tho....and although I only caught a glimpse of it by the side of the dock, the pattern was definitely right. If there are mature adults, would there not be spawn? I had a park police lady stop by me the other day while i was fishing and she was telling me about all the tigers she's seen while exploring in her kayak. Some small, and some about 40" according to her. I'm more curious as to what that all black fish was hiding out in the rocks. I'm very curious to try that part of the canal out now, especially since it is so close. I may need to plan a trip out there soon and see if i can find it!
  3. Are you referring to "warm water" or whatever its called over in Dickerson? I've heard the fishing is decent there but i've never been. And its only 10 minutes from my house, I dunno why ive always preferred lakes and ponds, but i'd be interested in checking it out sometime. Also, what kinda reel did you get? Peter- If you need any help fixing the motor, give me a shout. I'm up your way often and used to repair broken machinery for a living haha and no worries if you werent in the greatest mood that day....I wasnt either. I must have lost 5 jigs and 2 spinner baits. There is so much stuff in the water to get snagged on when fishing from shore over there, but thats where the fish are i suppose. I've been heading out there early in the mornings, and right when the sun starts to rise the fish are jumping out of the water. Had some good action the other day. It was about 6:45AM and 40 degrees but they were shockingly active. I am actually heading out there again early tomorrow to see if I can get them top water again...if anybody swings by, make sure and say hello. ALSO....I saw two odd things. First was a tiger muskie, short one swimming next to the right side dock at the ramp. Second was a completely black fish, no idea I don't understand it was but it was about 12-14 inches and hanging out near one of the drain pipes that goes under the road toward the ramp. He was hanging out by the rocks there but he caught me off guard because he was pitch black. any ideas?
  4. I was at BH yesterday also. Peter (dcfdpipeman) was there in his boat as well....not sure how he made out but I only managed to get one fish in about 3 hours. I'd like to get back there in a boat one of these days, the water was clear and calm but the fish were being picky.
  5. For sure man. Was just curious if you were going to be around there so I could keep an eye out to say hello. Also wanted to tell you the fishing should be good if the conditions are similar to today's.
  6. Peter, Are you still planning on heading out there tomorrow (sunday)? I went out the morning after the rain stopped this past week and the water was VERY cloudy. Managed a few in the overflow side pond thing that you pass by as you come to the ramp. Went back this morning and the water is CLEAR. At around 8am the water was very flat, around 12 when i left there was a little more movement on the water but it was definitely a good day to be out on a boat. If you go out tomorrow, I hope its the same. I should be there fishing around the ramp at some point tomorrow morning.
  7. I'd be down to hook up on sunday again. If anyone else is taking their boat out on sunday, i'll gladly join (Brian, Chris, etc). If not there's plenty of other weekends, just gotta be okay with a little chilly weather lol. Supposed to be 60ish degrees but other than that- should be good.
  8. hahaha yeah, its Nick. I noticed you're in frederick. I think I remember you saying that was your first time there? If you wanna explore that lake a little more, let me know. I'd be glad to show you the spots i've come across on the other side. I've never really fished the ramp side, but I know theres some good fishing on the other side of the lake if you and your batteries are up for it lol.
  9. It was nice to meet the few that showed up. Thanks to Brian for having me on his big beautiful boat and showing me parts of the lake I've never had the endurance to find by kayak or canoe. Hope there is a better turn-out in the spring, but if anyone wants to get out before then- I am always looking for a boat to hop into
  10. The weather for sunday looks perfect, 69 Degrees and sunny. Probably a slight breeze, gonna be nice. In response to the previous post, It is BYO stuff. I'll probably pack a few bottles of water and a sandwich. No idea how long we will be there but I think that should suffice.
  11. HAHA im not worried about it, im sure it'll be fine. I've been in all sorts of boats and canoes on lakes and rivers so i've experienced all sorts of control issues lol. I'm more looking forward to the company and learning more about the club since it is very local for me.
  12. LOL I think wv and his son are the only two looking for a ride now. As i've said before, I will put them in a rental boat if nothing else so they can fish together. If anyone has a spare trolling motor we can strap it to the rental and they'll be golden! I'm really looking forward to sunday, meeting you all and getting to ride along with Brian and get to know him and more about his club!
  13. Does Lee.md have a boat? If not, I think him, WV and his son are all looking for a boat. If nothing else, Lee can jump in your boat and I'll put WV and his son in one of the rentals to get them off shore a little and still keep them fishing together. I also think we are still waiting on confirmation from Lee on whether he will be attending or going to OC lol
  14. If nothing else, they do rent boats there. It's like $7 for 2 hours, and they have a cheaper option for longer times. Theyre essentially just aluminum john-boats set up row-boat style but they'll get you of the shore!
  15. Cool man, thanks. I'm very much looking forward to the ride. I am definitely interested in the Club too, so yes- it will be a great opportunity to get some more info. Now that I have the boat situation figured out, time to go through the tackle and decide what i'm bringing!
  16. Brian, You got a rider in your boat yet?....I'm just trying to plan out as much as I can on my end beforehand lol and yeah hellbenderman- the weather is supposed to be superb. -Nick
  17. I'm about 195 so maybe a bit too heavy? I am still looking for a boat to ride in tho. Definitely would make it a fun little trip if we had a pot, like $5 per person, biggest fish takes it. Anyways, I'm open to whatever.
  18. Will be there at 9 also. Driving either a Toyota Tundra or a Scion tC...But I will most likely be outside by the ramp with a black jacket and black backpack. Brian- Are you part of a club? I'm looking to join one here in this area soon/asap lol. Any info on yours, or any that you know of would be great.
  19. Depending on the time of day, i've been having good luck with a strike king red eye shad. Also, shad colored cranks have gotten me some fish closer to shore. Farther out i've had okay luck with t-rigged senkos and flukes twitched along the bottom. I've heard that shakey heads will get em, but i have yet to try. Good luck, and if any of you ever want to meet up at any of the mont. co. lakes (outside of the get-together)- i'd be glad to make those arrangements.
  20. Since the 16th is quickly approaching (this coming weekend), can we get a final head-count, time, etc.... and Will us non-boaters be paired with a boater, or be fishing from shore?
  21. I have a pond nearby like this. Typically make my cast far enough away from the water as to not spook anything, and cast to the complete other side with a senko or jig. The slow retrieve on the senko usually gets one about halfway back to me.
  22. weightless flukes, swim jigs, shakey-heads, and frogs if you've got appropriate cover. One thing I rarely ever see anyone throwing around here is a frog, and I am able to catch decent fish with em.
  23. i'm hoping the weather on the 16th will be good! Weather. com shows both the 14th and 15th to be sunny and 65...doesnt show the 16th yet but im hoping it's the same. I'll probably be out either way, I've been trying to go out a little every day or at least 5-6 days a week to various spots- rain or shine. Had a doctors appointment at 8am today, woke up early and got to the water at 6:30 and got a solid hour in. Hoping the registration and tags goes smoothly for you today.
  24. lol I dont think the lake will be too rough on you....its taking it out on the river for the first time where it gets tricky. Glad to hear you got it all worked out tho, and if you ever want a partner to get on the water with- let me know, i'm right down the street.
  25. Not sure if anyone is interested, but I am selling one of my reels that I never use. I got it as a back up in july, used it twice and it's been in the closet ever since. It's a Pinnacle Ultra Balance baitcast reel with 50lb power pro braid on it. I'm looking to get $30 for it, and im in germantown. Offers/trades accepted...
