  1. Kevin, I have a RH retrieve Pinnacle baitcaster on a 7' BPS rod that you can try out and see how you like it. Seems like we run into each other a bit so i'll throw it in the car next time I head out. You can give it a shot, birdnest the hell out of it a few times and see if you like it. PM me your number actually, maybe we can arrange a time to meet up.
  2. The one off of 85 or the one off of 26? If its not a round one, or one of the plastic low profiles...def something i'd be into for $100. lol very good question with a very simple answer. Do what feels right. I am right handed and use a RH retrieve, personally. I've seen people do the opposite, its just whatever youre comfortable with.
  3. I've always been in love with my Curado reels. 200e5 and 200e7, I prefer the e5 for crankbaits. Not sure if those models are available anymore since they've released the Chronarch line, but there are still Curado reels to be found. You'll probably look at the price tag and move along like I did at first, but any of the higher end baitcasters are worth it imo.
  4. I think a few of us do. That's what I use primarily, I know Brian (BrianinMD) and Sean (Basser89) use them also. I have my spinning gear, but I rarely use them. I have a few baitcasters in different ratios, but they all work the same pretty much. Few different ways to cast, but i've learned that practice is key. Even if its in your back yard (Which i did for a few days when I got my first baitcaster).
  5. Nice! I'm planning on heading out there on Saturday if all goes smoothly...
  6. Anyone hitting up BH today? I'm very strongly considering heading out there in a few hours...
  7. Kevin, Scroll to the top of the page. You'll see your username next to the inbox and notification buttons. Click your username and a dropdown menu should appear. Click on "Settings". When the Settings page loads, there is a menu on the left of your screen with "Signature" listed in it. Click that, and you'll be good. Hope this helps.
  8. ^^That was a first for me lol. Figured a jig and braid would do the trick, that braid will pull logs out of the water! Yeah, I didnt make it out today either. I have a free day friday and saturday also, and will be hitting BH at some point.
  9. Ken, there's always a spot in my passenger seat if you want it lol I may be heading out tonight for an hour or so. Havent decided yet.
  10. Anybody have any thoughts on the spring meet and greet that was talked about last year? Only a few of us made it out last year, but had talked about doing another in the spring for those who were not able to make it.
  11. Too bad I wasnt there with 65lb braid this time haha Very nice fish Bill!
  12. Hey Kevin, Good to see you on here. Saw you out with your son (I believe) the other day, at BH. Will probably run into you again here soon too... Nick
  13. Gonna hit some ponds tomorrow and see if I cant get a few bites. I miss the feeling, even of the little fighters.
  14. Sean, if you ever wanna make a trip out to Pepco....give me a shout. I'm right on 28 about 10 minutes away, if that.
  15. Hope everyone had a happy holiday, and has a safe new year...
  16. Hey everyone. I am selling my newest curado+rod. Its a 200e5 on a pinnacle rod 6'6" MH. $125 obo...Let me know if interested via PM. Hope everyone is doing well!
  17. I did, actually. I fished a good length of the canal with no luck, it was the day after we got that snow and it was still about 32-33 out. Didnt make it to the actual river tho.
  18. Havent gotten it out yet...missed a nice weekend to do it too. I have the electronics all hooked up and ready to go, just gotta find time away from the kids when there is still daylight haha
  19. Anyone else gonna do some fishing this weekend? I anticipate a slow bite, but will be out both today and tomorrow regardless. Tomorrow the new kayak goes in the water It's about 6am and im shore fishing today...i'm still debating where I want to go this morning.
  20. Y'know...at first glance I was like, "that looks like a big gold fish, or a small black catfish". Good to know im not the only one whose seen them!
  21. I'm not a fan of moving water haha I'd rather keep my kayak in the lakes. You'd think it'd be the other way around since you can typically just stand up in the river and the water will rarely be above your head....as opposed to the depth of the lake, which actually freaks me out a bit when in the kayak.
  22. How far up are we talking? I've never really fished in the river for much other than cats and panfish, would be cool to actually pull a LM outta there but I feel like the general area that we are in are more for small mouth. Also, I tried the canal in Dickerson. Got one nice strike but was too busy messing with my reel and it happened as soon as it hit the water. It was on a jig and by the time I pulled my rod back he had spit it out I guess. Stayed for about 45 minutes flipping to all the fallen trees, then moved to a private pond by my house and managed to get a few there. It was about 37 degrees out and the bite was slow but was still nice to catch some fish and try out a new spot.
  23. lol Brian, you know im always down for a day trip at BH if you dont want to or arent able to coordinate a trip that far. If nothing else, let me know if you need a hand winterizing her. Did you ever get the batteries charged up? I dunno exactly how that works but like I said, I know that guy that will rebuild them like new...or you can individually charge them up and I have a few trickle chargers if you need or are able to use them. The 36v system is pretty easy, you can find diagrams online so you dont get confused taking them out or unhooking them or anything. Either way, i'd unhook them and keep them on an automatic charger throughout the winter, at least thats what I do with my ATV's and such when they are not in use so they maintain.
  24. lol I think i see how it got its name then! I love areas like that, but man they eat up my jigs like none other. This may not be an appropriate place for this, but does anyone have any interest or know anyone who may be interested in buying a 16' fiberglass Mohawk canoe? I was just going through the garage and saw it, realized its only seen water like 2 times and maybe I could get rid of it and have it help fund my downsize to a kayak again. I have my main canoe, so this one is pretty much new, but at times the canoes are hard with just one person haha
  25. Brian and Sean, thanks for the info. I'll be sure to check it out....probably the canal more than the actual discharge area. I typically dont venture too far out unless I'm with someone, due to past experiences. What part of BH is the "stick ups"? I'd join you if I wasnt watching the kids today. I got out there a tiny bit yesterday but they were doing major leaf control and it kind of ruined it for me, got my sinuses going and i moved over to the kentlands. I'm thinking of picking up a new kayak since i havent had one in a while, just to drop in and float around the little coves at BH and maybe clopper....Dick's is having good sales on them. Multiple models on clearance for under $200. The one I had my eye one was down to like 135, and angler friendly.
