  1. Assuming everything is set up OK, it just takes practice. Maybe I'm just slow, but honestly, I would say I fished for months before I got to a level that I would call "good" with a casting reel.
  2. I never liked to get caught up in ballistics, shot placement is far and away more critical.
  3. Not carry guns, but I love gun pics, so here's a couple Pythons:
  4. Thanks!
  5. My Kimber is my carry gun: I'll throw in the 1911 family pic too :
  6. Their pointers are the standard for jerkbaits.
  7. If it were me I'd try the Phenix, I don't own one, but keep reading great things, they seem unbeatable for the price.
  8. Jeez, there's a shimano fanboy here and he has something negative about another reel? I'm stunned.
  9. I love them, they catch everything, and in numbers.
  10. I'd cut out all the trying to sell you you stuff, trash talk, and guys trying to be funny, but I'm afraid that wouldn't leave much with most of the current shows.
  11. Falcon Cara 6'10" Finese Jig Rod, with my Lew's tourney Pro, love that rod and reel.
  12. I really like them, don't use them as much as I used to, but when I'm on the small local river I'm still thowing one quite a bit. They can catch good fish too, one of my best bass last year, a 5+ lbs Largemouth, was caught on an 1/8oz rooster tail. They'll always be one of my favorite lures.
  13. I like to use a small dry fly, like a Betts, you can cast them on spinning gear with a weighted float quite well.
  14. I caught a few nice ones on a Pop-R yesterday.
  15. Maybe just a little.
  16. Nearly all have cleaned up nice, all have good paint, a few will need new hooks and rings, but the majority are nice. I touched up the hooks with a stone on a bunch of them, probably 3/4 of them are fishable now. The two Lucky Craft live pointers surprised me, I didn't see them when I bought them, and they're like new, as was one of the clack n raps. I have no idea who made the spinnerbaits, but they seem like good quality lures.
  17. Stopped by the local tackle shop the other day and the owner was unloading some of his used tackle which he no longer wanted. A lot of it had been sitting around and developed a little rust, but he only wanted $40 for the lot, so without looking through it with a lot of detail, I went ahead and grabbed it up. After getting it all home, cleaning them up and looking them over, I think I did better than I originally thought. About half a dozen of them are Lucky Crafts, and there's some Spros, Xcalibers, Rapalas, AC Shiners, a Megabass Vibration X lure, and a few more that I can't indentify. There's a couple new cotton cordell spoons, and an unopened pack of Yamamoto Kreatures too. He said he'll have some more stuff in a few days, I think I'll go back and pick up some more, what do you guys think?
  18. I really like my Patriarch, but I love my Tourney Pro.
  19. Congrats on the SX. A Phenix Bass Recon would be fairly close to your price range, and it would look awesome with the SX.
  20. I've used them some for Rage Craws, works well, seemed to me like they went through rocky areas much better than a T-Rig, or football head too.
  21. Yep, mine was from e-bay for right around $150.
  22. Great reels, I love my 6.4 WLP, what I really like is that it palms better than any of my other reels. Excellent performer as well, and they routinely sell under $150, which makes them a good value.
  23. Mine recently added quite a bit of new tackle in addition to all the new rods, saw some Yamamoto Senkos, a bunch of SK crankbaits including some XS series and KVD 2.5s and 1.0s, they had some Rick Clunn Cranks and XCalibers too, lots of new spinnerbaits as well, War Eagles and some of the delux SK models. There was even more that I've forgotten, I was impressed.
  24. How does it actually get inside of your reel, and even if it did, isn't your reel already full of lube that could attract dust and dirt? Not sure how much stock I'd put in what a company says about a competitor, my can of real magic plainly reads, "danger, extremely flammable".
