  1. I dont like braid for most treble baits. I stick with 12lb mono or fluoro
  2. Hands down mojo>e6x. I got the e6x practically new in a trade with my buddy because he didn't like it. I am very glad that I did not buy the rod with my own money. Don't get me wrong, it is not a bad rod, it just is not worth the price tag. If the e6x was ~150 then it would be a different story. Save yourself the money and get the mojo. btw: I traded a used duckett ghost for the e6x...... will never regret that trade LOL
  3. Out of the rods you've listed I would go with the mojo. From experience I would say that the SCIII blank is worth the extra money over the SCII blank. A rod that I would also throw into consideration would be the Abu veritas. Ive had one from every generation without a problem. I recently got a 7/m and so far it has impressed me
  4. I have never had problems with 15lb Power Pro to 6lb flouro (Berkley 100%, seaguar red label) connected with an albright Knot. Never had a problem with uni-to-uni, I just find the albright faster and easier to tie
  5. Every company rates power and taper different, but they are usually within the same ballpark. That said I use the rating as an estimate of what I am looking for. I make my decisions based on how the rod feels in my hand and how I think it will handle what I intend to use it for. I have fished with the 7'1" mh Croix mojo and (for croix) I would call that my "go to". I am a power fisher so I don't mind the stiffness. For what you mentioned, I believe the medium would do well
  6. I throw flukes and small hard jerkbaits on spinning. All bigger hard jerkbaits I throw on casting.
  7. Personally I like a Heavy powered rod in the 7'-7'6" range for most of the jig fishing I do. However, I have a 7'2 MH rod that I use mainly for t-rigs, but I'm not afraid to throw jigs in light to moderate cover. The main things I look for in a jig rod are sensitivity, durability, and backbone. All in that order. You will find that people have different tastes in their jig rods. Find something that feels good in your hands and will suit the cover you will be throwing into. I use a high speed reel and straight 15-20 lb flouro (again depending on cover). When setting the hook, don't be afraid to jack 'em. A weak hook set wont penetrate a heavy wire hook + weed guard that well. That was my biggest problem when I started throwing jigs. Like everyone says, hooksets are free. Tight Lines!
  8. I am looking for an affordable flourocarbon line to use on a 2500 size spinning reel, for finesse applications. I am looking for something that is manageable, will last, and will not break the bank (aka Tatsu) My budget is around 25$. Thanks!
  9. I believe booyah makes a smaller sized frog here's the link to their website: http://www.booyahbaits.com/booyah-pad-crasher-jr
  10. its not that i am afraid to have rods shipped, I have had it done before, it is mostly that i would like to handle the rod before i use it.
  11. reason being is that i like to actually handle the rod before i use it, and i also have a tournament on Saturday and i honestly don't trust shipping . The thing i don't like about my duckett is how how light it is for a heavy, and how it has such a soft tip.
  12. Hi all, I am in the market for a new jig rod after not being impressed with my duckett ghost. I will be buying from my local bass pro, which does not have a huge selection of rods other than Abu, Berkley, BPS, Duckett. The rods that i know are available are, Abu Veritas: 7' mh or 7'6 mh (mh is heaviest they carry there in this rod) Abu Vendetta: same models as veritas BPS Carbonlite: 7' Hvy or 7'6 Hvy Ghost ( i have the 7'3 hvy and dont like how soft the tip is) These are the rods/ models that i am looking at and that are in my price range of about 100 I am a fan of a stiffer rod/ extra fast tip, but am also looking for the most sensitivity. so, which of these rods would you choose? Note: 3/8 - 3/4 jig is what i mostly use
  13. From what i understand the difference is the bearings. The curado has the S A-RB bearings, which are double shielded bearings. The citica has the standard A-RB bearings i believe. Also the curado has more models to choose from.
  14. any chance anyone knows the water temps on Webster Lake in Franklin
  15. Green Pumpkin Orange Terminator Pro Series jig with brown Zoom Super Chunk jr trailer
  16. One closest calls i had was i was river fishing with my brother when he gut hooked a sunfish. I came over to help him and as i was handling the fish i hear 3 beats and look up and see an owl coming talons a blazin'. I was able to cut the line and throw the fish back and duck and run. I never saw it, heard it or thought of an owl being out at noon. lets just say i had to check my pants after that one
  17. I think that tonight at the weigh in he clarified somewhat about it. I believe he said he was having some problems with his rods (enigma) but they got it sorted out.
  18. I was at Dicks last night and snagged some new shadow raps before they put them on the shelves
  19. catch more fish new pb large mouth gain confidence in more techniques spend less money
  20. My worst looked something like this with my friend. Not paying attention and got 2 trebles in my side. No pictures, just a lot of blood. lets just say I kept my distance from there on
  21. My brother has an extreme reel it has worked fine for the past 2 years since he got it. Ever since about 2 or 3 weeks ago he noticed that sometimes when he snaps the tip of the rod up, or jerks, the spool spins and backlashes. The drag will be turned up and everything, it just seems as if the drag is not engaging. But when the reel is normal, the drag works fine. Any suggestions? or is it time to just retire it.
  22. I don't have a dedicated senko rod, but the one that I throw them mostly on my 6'8" spinning St.Croix mojo bass wacky rod. It is an extra fast action rod and it is works perfectly fine for senkos. I use a shimano Sahara 2500 with 15 lb power pro braid. I also throw drop shots and sometimes shaky heads on it.
  23. I just bought a bunch of luckycraft jerkbaits for 9$ each. Now I'm $60 shorter but 6 jerkbaits richer. Lol
  24. As the title says, what line do you use for jerkbaits? Ps. This combo will be used only for jerkbaits
