  1. wow that helps alot. thanks. I'll be sure to review this and everyone else please excuse the double post
  2. Wow thats pretty detailed, thanks and thanks to everyone else, really helped out a lot. I have been using 3/0 and 5/0 for pretty much everything and they work pretty well, I only use EWG hooks except for a jig.
  3. I thought I forgot one, sorry. But personally I don't like YUM so I didn't even think about it. The reason why I don't like YUM is b/c of the excess amounts of salts on the baits and I do not like the feeling of their plastics to begin with.
  4. I think it's always fun to look for specific markings on fish and use them to see if you can land the same fish twice, it's a fun way to keep you trying to get better
  5. I'm just wondering what everyone's favorite baits are and how they use them and under what conditions. Also include the color(s) of the bait(s) and any other additional information. Thanks.
  6. horny toads are my go to buzzbait
  7. thanks everyone
  8. Well I've been thinking, what size hook is most appropriate for each size bait. Should a 3/0 only be used for 5-6 in baits or should a 3-5 in bait be on a 4/0 or 5/0 hook. Please help, a chart would be very helpful. Thanks in advance and btw, I'm just trying to improve my game a little more, it's a simple thing but always confuses me.
  9. I'm 16 and I don't even have a job yet but when i get 5 bucks I'm at Dick's buying another bag of Zoom plastics.. lol I can't help it, it's just the type of thing that idc how much money I spend, it's always fun. and I LOVE soft plastics, girlfriend always asks me why I love fishing so much and I tell her b/c it's fishing I could get 2 hrs of sleep, get up at 4 am and fish 14 hrs.... and not catch a thing and want to do it all again the next day.
  10. well my advice to you would be to think simple, fish are shallow early on in the day and move deeper as the day goes on, but drift back to shallower water in the evening when it cools down. Simplify your lure selection and try not to over think it. Just remember that different weather conditions effect bass fishing, air pressure being on of the main along with temperature. Low Pressure days = great bass fishing, High Pressure days = finesse tactics needed. Try to pay attention to details such as shad moving through the water or channels and drop offs in the body of water. And one more thing, pick 3-6 colors that you have the most confidence in and use only them, you don't need every bait in every color, just what you have the best confidence in. That's how I catch most of my big bass.
  11. Hello everyone, I am a 16 year old angler from Northeastern PA and I fish about twice a week with my father. We have a 1980 Gamerfisher that we restored and now looks like a 2000. It's a fiberglass tri-hull that we use all the time. I love to use baitcasters and so does my dad but we both always have 1-2 spinning reels on deck as well. My favorite bait co. is Zoom Baits and every big fish I've ever caught has been caught on a Zoom bait or a jointed Rapala. My 2 favorite combos are: 1) 7' 1 pc ML St. Crioux Triumph Rod with a SHIMANO Sedona reel spooled with 30lb braid (8lb diameter) and 2) 6'6" M Field and Stream Verado IM7 baitcaster spooled with 12lb mono. With those two rod/reel combos I can usually adjust to any technique needed whether it be flipping to heavy pads and cover or drop shotting a finesse worm in clear water. I know a lot about bass fishing, especially for my age and I use it to my advantage to find the most bass in a short amount of time. Regardless, I am looking forward to getting to know many of you and sharing ideas with each other. Happy Fishing.
