  1. Smoke Purple has been a great color for me as well as the Tilapia color from Big Bite baits. My favorite soft jerkbait is the Caffiene Shad, would love to see them offer it in a color that matches the Zoom Sungill.
  2. Thanks , it was a very strong fish.
  3. I would add a couple of nail weights , mine swam a lot better once I did . Caught a nice 45" Muskie the first time using it and had a couple of others follow it. The Bass I was targeting were not interested on this outing .
  4. They absolutely work , been throwing them a long time fishing for largemouth in SW Michigan. Here are some that have worked for me ... 10" Ribbontail , typically on a Texas Rig with a 3/8 oz unpegged sinker. My favorites would be the Big Bite baits Kreit Tail and the old standby 10" Power worm Softwateronly mentioned the 10" Bull worm .In addition to fishing it with a slip sinker I've caught some real nice ones fishing it weightless with an 11/0 Owner offsest hook. When fished weightless it has a real nice gliding motion on the way down , think of this bait as a large trick worm . 10" Xcite Baits Maximus , this is the bait that Yum copied with their Mighty worm. The big difference is that the Maximus is buoyant . One popular way to fish it is as a mag shaky head which has produced several nice fish. That said I've done better lately fishing it as a Neko Rig. Mustad makes a 3/16 oz screw in tungsten nail weight which matches up well with this worm .
  5. This one has put nice fish in the boat for me, it was copied by the Yum Mightee Worm . The advantage that the Xcite Maximus has is that it is bouyant . https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Xcite_Baits_MaXimus_Worm_5pk/descpage-XBM.html
  6. It's definitely a fish catcher , rigged on a weighted screw lock hook it has a unique death spiral. That said small fish love to rip the small paddletail so you will go through them quickly .
  7. Thanks for the info guys, it's a bait that I've been looking at for a while and I know it's one of the best sellers at the Hook up Tackle . Sounds like it's producing well and guys are keeping it quiet . I have a weakness for japanese tackle, I'm sure it won't be long before I give in.
  8. try rigging the Bull Flat on a weighted swimbait hook, the 1/4 oz 5/0 size Berkley Fusion pairs up well with the 4.8 size Bullflat https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Berkley_Fusion19_Hooks_Weighted_Swimbait_4pk/descpage-FHWW.html
  9. The Damiki Tremor is a productive lipless that is offered in a silent version . https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Damiki_Tremor_65_Lipless_Crankbaits/descpage-DTS.html
  10. The R.I, Vixen is the og , I have a few that are about 20 years old and still catching fish. I have not used the Teckel but have heard good things about them and I am glad that the DB is having success with this bait. One little trick that works for me at times is after briefly pausing the bait somewhere in the retrieve I will sometimes wind it in straight about 3-4 quick cranks of the reel and then a quick pause before I resume the traditonal walking retrieve . I have seen them come unglued and annihilate it after that . Just another little trick to add to your arsenal when using these baits.
  11. I will add that wake baits like the 3:16 wake jr or a Black Dog G2 Shell Cracker have been killer at times prespawn fishing for me . Also for the old school guys twitching a floating Rapala is another bait that will put fish in the boat during that time.
  12. I live in SW Michigan and been throwing them for years and am very confident throwing them when they are used in the right situation . The most consistent thing for me from Spring through fall are soft swimbaits , that said each category is it's own rabbit hole. Even though I live in smallmouth country I mainly target largemouth on inland lakes as I feel that it fits my fishing style more . We are approaching what is in my opinion my favorite time of year for fishing these type of baits , especially once the water temps start hitting the high 40's and when it's in the 50's then it's go time. Starting with the spring season , this is the time when I have my most success with the 7"-9 " size lures and I focus mainly on Glide baits and soft swimbaits. Keep in mind , if you are getting bit on a jerkbait in staging areas a Glide bait will probably work 8 times out of 10 during the same situation . This is a great time to also be throwing lures like the 8" Magdraft which makes a great 1-2 punch for me . Generally wind is your friend , fishing during a warming trend with a nice breeze tend to be my best days but always keep an open mind . Once the weeds, lily pads etc start emerging in shallow water then I tend to throw a lot of soft swimbaits with beast hooks or baits like the weedless Hudd 68 which is another favorite of mine. The last couple of years the Beast Coast Creep has been killer for me and the Little Creeper baits always contribute and don't sleep on their little Bluegill bait. That one is killer ! This is also the time I will start sneaking in wake baits , a real good one that is not expensive is the 6 " Fish lab Bio Wake. I tend to use the hard wakes on overcast days and the soft wakes when it's sunny . Another good one for fishing in shallow water are the 3:16 soft lures . The bigger one is called Rising Son , when it's calm and the fish are spooky I will often throw the Minnow which is a smaller profile. These are a few quick random thoughts as I now I gotta get ready for work , that said don't be afraid to throw 'em and you will get more bites than you think especially in this part of the country as there is not as many fishermen up here utilizing bigger baits like they do on the west coast where it's more ingrained into their fishing culture so it presents a lot of opportunity to differentiate yourself from a large percentage of fisherman in our area and they are a blast to fish. Good luck.
  13. If the largemouth in Michigan will bite them where I live I would imagine you will do well in NY. Here area few that have been effective for me .... 10" Big Bite Kreit Tail or 10" Power Worm - I typically throw it with a 3/8 oz sinker 10" Xcite baits Maximums on a 1/2 oz shaky head with a large hook - This is the one that Yum copied , the advantage of the Maximus is that it is neutrally buoyant Caught a couple of good ones last year on a Strike King Bull Worm . I've used it with 1/8 to 1/4 oz slip sinkers . Also , throw it weightless with a 11/0 Owner Oversize offset worm . Even without weight it sinks well on it's own and glides down real nicely. Not a worm but I've tagged some good ones on the 7" Canyon Plastics Giant Tora tube - I typically throw it with a 3/4 oz slip sinker an 8/0 EWG . The 3/4 oz sinker sounds heavy but what will usually happen is it will drop pretty slow because of the mass of the bait and the tube fills up with water slowing it's descent. For whatever reason , I never got around to fishing the 12" worms so I can't say much about that .
  14. Discussion starts around the 8:50 mark , Ben from Hook -up tackle had used the prototypes a while before these came available.
  15. I like the Magdraft too, that said I tend to do better with the 8" . Don't sleep on the Beast Coast Creep .
