  1. with what do you cut the leg notches out with? I never thought about make it less noisy, but might as well learn how for future reference
  2. this year I think I am going to just throw a rage toad and replace the buzzbaits with it and see what happens.
  3. 1 phoenix 2 rage tail/strike king 3 dobyns 4 lews 5 Johnson outdoors (humminbird/minnkota)
  4. I checked today for giggles. Dobyns 745 lews TP 7.1, supertuned and boca7s 1/2 football head jig rage craw trailer 20# tatsu ripped a overhead cast to just over 40 yards but not quite 45. main question is, who the hell fishes a jig 40 yards away?
  5. not really, but I have put my health on the back burner since I have not been to the gym in 2+ years (used to be everyday)....does that count?
  6. http://youtu.be/ejGQ5oIuP9c
  7. of course there are.......Limb Bream and the elusive OakBass! lol
  8. rhino........what is "good rain gear" without breaking the bank? I know frabill and Sims make great suit but are pricy.....I got a cheaper FrogToggs set, I hope if I ever really have to use it, it will do its job.
  9. By Memphis in May weekend , I am talking about Music Fest weekend. Seems without fail it rains that week and you have to wade in MUD to go see your choosen bands. either way you are spot on about the weather pattern, I really dont think we have had more than 2 really fishable weekends. Friday cold fronts for 3 months it seems. Of course from the tales of last Pickwick trip.....It didnt stop Big O from catching over 100 smalljaws. I'm pumped rain or shine.
  10. well it is memphis in may weekend.......the locals know what that means 4inches+.
  11. with 200 yard spools I get 3 fill ups (65 yards per reel) which is on par with Jeff's 2 cast set up. I got pretty nice gear, Lews TP and shimano cores, cleaned and supertuned. My opinion is people who say they can cast over 40 yards non wind aided are full of it.........everyone catches 5 pounders until you weigh them, and everyone cast 60-70 yards until you pace it off. My standard response to people when say " I can spool myself on a cast".....you should add more line, LMAO edit Lipless cranks are the exception, you really can BOMB those out there a ways
  12. Just about ready here too, most tackle is stowed and put in an organized spot..........main thing is will my new truck be here or not. I ordered a new RAM back in early feb.. I am hoping it is here or I am going to have to buy 2 tires for the trade in, which does not make me happy.....
  13. don't worry, when those carp hit the great lakes they will start to think about doing something. Nobody cares about the southern waters and rivers the carp have destroyed, but God forbid anything happens to the great lakes. I got to leave now, if I say anymore, the thread will get shut down.....if its not already on its way there.
  14. does roger do follow boats? (for a charge of course) Not trying to horn in on ya, just weighing options and deciding on how early to get up wends. just thinking outloud really...
  15. I'll bring cash, and beer if needed LOL....
  16. so double digit drum/buffalo count? YEAH!!!!!!!!
  17. i been known to work up a good grinnel/drum bite before...
  18. I cant take part in the "pic contest" if I order more jigs , then the bait monkey wakes up and then the tail spin starts all over again. LOL Bassisaddicting......if you get pair with me, no worries, cause my friends that fish with me are screaming "hey a**hole, get on the trolling motor, I flipped that tree 8 times already."......speeding up is something I am trying to do. which is one of the things, even as a boater, I am looking forward to see: How other people fish. I fish alone 90% of the time. So I greatly welcome seeing how other attack laydowns, points, ect, ect.
  19. look kid, I am not going to be rude........I will say, if that is you in your avatar then most "buckets" have been fishing more than you been alive....maybe you should talk to them and ask how they are doing, how are the fish biting.....ya know show some respect. I fish some lakes here around me where the old black farm hands will ask to hold your boat rope while you park ..... and you know what, you let them do it and you give them a few bucks. Its called RESPECT, they give it so you give it back to them...its always PLEASE , SIR , and THANK YOU ..them to me and I to them.......on the bucket deal I have caught catfish on jigs or chatterbaits before and kept for the sole intent to give to a bucket guy......... they were THANKFUL, not cause someone gave them something cause they havnt caught jack crap in 3 days and were hungry!!! you need to get off your elitist attitude and be thankful for what you have......... I mean you got sponsors right kid? I would hate to know that company is giving you stuff knowing you are sabotaging other fishermen instead of promoting the sport you say you love. END OF RANT.........
  20. some catch and release guys go way to far......I mean some of these "bucket fishermen" have been doing it for 40 years, and I have RARELY seen a bucket type catch any amount of numbers to harm anything. I like it when they take out crappie....means more for my bass to eat. I do lots of bluegill fishing too, and if I catch 50 "filletable" then I got 50 in the box.... I then bring them to my golf course and "feed" my bass and release them ..... big 3/4 pound bluegill too. unless people are breaking the law, many "boaters" should mind their own business.
  21. what inch size? I throw the 7 inch ones on a 1/4 oz megastrike shakey head on a 742 dobyns with a core 50 reel(12#)..... I will drop shot with 4 or 6 inch robo on a 702 finesse dobyns with a core 50 (10#)........anything lighter will be on a spinning gear.
  22. I guess that's my issue with the SDJ, something must be wrong with it since it needs to be "doubled".....hahhahahahhahahahahhahahhahahahahahaha
  23. only with the proper insurance release forms....
  24. I would trust my life to anything the USCG says I should. I got $40 jobs from bass pro........If I intended to wear one all day I would go with the mustang. I guess I am a little old school and like to "trust" all the padding on the older style ones, and I only wear one while under power.
  25. phil, that is VERY true, I find it hard to believe 1 amp bigger fuse will kill a livewell fuse. Traveler has a good point too, make sure your pumps are clean. if the wiring is good, there is something causing your pumps to pull too much current. disclaimer: DO NOT run a bigger fuse cause I said it. Yes, me personally I would do it. But I am not telling anyone else to.
