  1. I really like the Megastrike heads, and the Owner ultrahead.
  2. you would be correct. There has been more Jig topics than senko topics on the boards. I am not being rude when I say the search function is your friend, as you can read for a few days a variety of topics. MUCH more in detail than anyone could explain in just 1 thread. when you pick a few jigs out, tie one on and go fish it, and fish ONLY it. You will come to love the jig just as we have. But that love will come from reading, fishing, reading some more, and fishing it some more to find your jig style. I have fished with "jig guys" and feel lucky to have done so, I even turned a few guys onto the jig. and not me or any of those guys fish the jig exactly the same, similar but not the same as jig fishing is a style, dare I say lifestyle that you have to experience and cultivate on your own trails and errors. Hope this helps, enjoy your reading and learning the Jig. BTW, I use a football close to 100% of the time.
  3. yeah.......don't ever do this. it is an insurance claim waiting to happen.
  4. reading the article sounds like they will fine the barge contractor for not properly lighting and ole' boy goes to jail for manslaughter.......neither of which is right, IMO and all of it sounds avoidable if everyone would just think safety for yourself and others first. sad sad for those families.
  5. LOL, it still wouldn't solve the AG&F not getting off their ass and certifying the weight.
  6. Good on you Traveler! how in the $Q&^&$^* are barges not required to have lights? That is sad for the people involved in the accident yall are talking about. of course down here on the Mississippi you never really see one not running a HUGE spot light. I know when I got my boat I was scared to death, 35mph and no trim felt like light speed, lol. I guess I always been scared to die to do stupid stuff.
  7. did you go get your oil changed, then they came out with the list of what "really" needs to be fixed? its a classic tactic. I would get checked out, but I am leaning towards none of that is in dire need to be replaced.
  8. why would someone cross other boat wakes that fast? maybe I am just a pansy and way to cautious. but I don't think there is such a thing as way too cautious on the water, IMO.
  9. don't tell me this.......now I have to buy one!
  10. lmao did autocorrect get you? or is that a type of fish we don't have in the South?
  11. while it does look more like an a-rig than spinner bait, I find it being classified a "spreader bar" a stretch. IMO it will be very interesting going forward because there is no doubt A-rig type lures catch huge prespawn fish.....wonder over the next decade or so how many records will not be changed because a person used an Arig?
  12. true........ but I was going on probably 80% or more of the time. I figured since the OP said very little cover that he would be exposed hook. but you are correct, not always
  13. well drop shot is an open/exposed hook technique, so are you for sure it is the weight getting hung up?
  14. last time I ate fish was 2 years ago
  15. welcome to the midsouth! we have lots of good water 'round here.
  16. http://www.outdoorlife.com/photos/gallery/fishing/2012/08/potential-world-record-striped-bass-rejected-igfa-and-fish-and-game-a here is the article I mentioned earlier..... you have to hit "next" to view all 12 paragraphes of the story. The bassmaster story is a good one too.
  17. with a little more digging I found a pic of the "spinnerbait" he was using, which is basically a homemade Alabama rig....will be interesting to see how this pans out. also, in another article, they weighed the fish like 5 times and never went under 68# by the time the Arkansas game and fish ran them around the fish spit up so many shad it weighed 58# and change...... it is unfortunate for all involved.
  18. when I got my reels back from supertuning and boca upgrades I had to run 3 or 4 brakes instead of 2 and had to set my casting control to slow creep fall instead of free fall. even with the ramped up breaking, distance felt the same.
  19. yeap I use the BPS brand UL 6 foot spinning rod and reel too.
  20. Dobyns champion 734 for most of my swim jigging. 90% of the time I am trowing a 1/2oz swimjig with a rage grub trailer.
  21. I am not so sure about that, even using the thumb trick, more than 50% of the time if I backlash braid I have to get the scissors.
  22. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/business/2013/07/man-sues-fishing-group-over-1m-prize/
  23. I have always said the TP is the best value out there especially if you are patient and look around. its hard to beat a lew's top to bottom, $$$ for $$$
  24. Costas scale camera/phone (someone has to show 00mod what dinks look like) JJ's magic
  25. in the area you stated I don't remember seeing any "matted" grass but there is TONS of grass for sure, just not matted at least where I been.
