  1. shaky head does not have a weed guard, as it as a bait keeper instead.
  2. Two young boys walked into a pharmacy one day, picked out a box of tampons and proceeded to the checkout counter. The pharmacist at the counter asked the older boy, 'Son, how old are you?' 'Eight', the boy replied. The man continued, 'Do you know what these are used for?' The boy replied, 'Not exactly, but they aren't for me. They're for him. He's my brother. He's four." "Oh, really?" the pharmacist replied with a grin. "Yes." the boy said. "We saw on TV that if you use these, you would be able to swim, play tennis and ride a bike. Right now, he can't do none of those."
  3. Papajoe......... I have no idea but when you figure it out let me know!!!! I marked the biggest wad of fish I have ever seen Sunday.... I swear there were a 1000 there in a few hundred yard stretch of ledge off a bar. Issue was they were all suspended...... I only caught fish in more than a hour trying to make them bite.
  4. I understand Francho, that's why I said it the way I did......I am sure that rusty spring scale is SUPER accurate (which is the reason it has lasted this long) I just always hate to the see the word "approximately" used when talking fish weight....... spring for a really good scale (no pun intended).
  5. am I the only one thinking, "geez, you are a guide, buy a decent scale." I understand the scale might be dead on accurate.....but I want to see the digital!!! donkey of a fish though.
  6. you really need to check out the Siebert Outdoors shakeys. Mike has both round ball and stand up......the extreme has the Owner Deep Throat, which I believe to be the best jig/shakeyhead hook available. as far as sizes I fish, 1/8th, 1/4 and 3/8th...that will cover anything and everything.
  7. upgrade your hooks and rings (more weight) use 10# line tune your bait to run perfectly straight and you will hit your target depth on a long cast.
  8. I have heard that before. about folks not liking the reel seat...... but they are very nice solid rods for the price point and from all accounts fishes higher than the price.
  9. for 1/2oz footballs I generally use a 784ML. It is a great length and has a fast tip, closer to XF some might say. The length, tip, and overall feel and action allows you to really bomb a cast out there and still get positive hook sets to get the fish in the boat. for 3/4 or 1oz I use the 745...... little shorter, but more powerful too, fishing the bigger jigs you need a pretty stout rod. you dont need a broomstick, just beef. heaving big jigs on long cast in deep water you gonna have to rare back and set the hook on them so you need a little backbone. Hook up ratio..... wind down to them, then hit them as hard and as fast as I can..... thats how I do it. BUT I have heard Mark Zona say more than once on bigger footballs you need to just wind down to them, wait for them to turn, and keep cranking then pop them a little...... He says if you hit them fast and hard the jig will blow their mouth open and you'll miss the fish. I dont miss many jig fish the way I do it, but I aint calling Mark Zona wrong either. Try both methods and see what you like, I keep trying to remember to try Zona method, but everytime I get bit I get excited and hit them fast and hard out of habit.
  10. HA HA............ I see your's came in. just something special about that DX742c I tell ya!
  11. well folks tend to be a little weird sometimes
  12. yeah...... posting PM's publicly is normally frowned upon.
  13. might have dropped a bank. I would have it checked out before plugging it up again.......don't want to burn the boat or house down.
  14. Trig owner deep throats from Siebert.
  15. I have my DX742 paired with a Core50, 10# line BEST... SENKO... AND... 1/4 SHAKY HEAD... COMBO... EVER!
  16. that explains the charger sitting on the back deck. THANKS for posting
  17. there are MILLIONS of Lithium batteries out there.... because a few planes catch fire proves nothing. and I am still going to be somewhat shocked if is a battery issue. not looking to argue, because it makes no difference to me either way.
  18. I am lucky yet standard. I am left handed but reel right handed. this lets me hold the rod in my left hand and reel with my right......no switching hitting mid cast. Denny Brauer always urged people to fish/flip/pitch like this, as fish will hit it on the fall.....while you are switching hands.
  19. have you set up your own personal challenge??? Do so here: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/117976-open-challenge-to-all-fishermen-and-women/
  20. kinda what I always thought too........ I been tying it since I see it in Field n Stream when I was ten years old........ they said wrap ten times, bigger line wrap it less. to each his own I suppose.
  21. I usually wrap about a dozen times.... 20# line only gets about 8 wraps because anything more on the bigger line gets tough to cinch down correctly the first time every time
  22. maybe that was its name who's on first?
  23. the bait worked!!!!!!!!! I knew someone would say that!! BTW I need to see some more Erie fat girls......
