  1. I am always more excited to get a new rod.
  2. trailer hook on a jig.....hmmmm wouldn't interfere with the plastic trailer?
  3. don't set up a buffet or anything, but take a few and try them..... if they taste funky don't do it again. I know one of my employees at the golf course took some crappie home.... and everyone it alsways railing about water... chemicals in the water.... he said they were the best tasting fish EVER.
  4. if the pond is surrounded by pasture and grassland then I say you really have no worries, as grass is the best natural filter there is, fact!
  5. check out the Memphis pond hoppers thread in this section......lots of Memphis folk in there!
  6. yep the rapala with the touch screen is what I like, $50 and has neat features
  7. sloenzp---- in my experience (limited) once you mark fish at a given depth and catch them at that depth then you should spend the rest of the day at that depth or very close to it.... depending on the normal factors water temp, wind, structure ect. suspended fish are the hardest to catch... fish within 2-3 foot of the bottom or on the bottom are catchable IMO and in my readings.
  8. teal you are good people. karma....... it exists. good on you and the kid.
  9. toni63.......welcome to the forums!
  10. I had to have a broken lens replaced (dropped it) in a set of 580G pair.... $100+ shipping..... better than $250 I say.
  11. anyone make them or know where I can get one?
  12. If I am fishing ledges I am waiting "til I see em" to fish if I am fishing shallow then I am looking at a map and looking around at the area.
  13. if the lake is 80 foot deep I wouldn't fish an inch shallower than 15 foot.
  14. I have tried a bunch of shakeyheads......and I have settled on Siebert's stuff, they are hard to beat. the mega strike ones are good, the only time I questioned them is when I fished rock, which is most of the time. the Owner ultrahead is a standard for sure, great head, CPS, and good hook. Siebert's I still like more because of the hooks he uses.... Siebert has one of the best shakeyheads on the market, and when he gets to add the CPS pin (hopefully). then he will have THE BEST on the market hands down. check it out!
  15. this is a GREAT product..... but beware if you are using oxygenators this product will kill your fish deader than a hammer. It converts it to ammonia or salt (cant remember) livewell additives are awesome just make sure they are compatible to your system.
  16. if it is thick then you are going to have to go at least 1.5oz in the mat and 3/4 or 1 oz in the holes.... some guys will go 2oz. I got friends that fish Guntersville and never go below 1.5oz...... punching aint my style, its boring to me.. my approach to most things is go as big a you can get away with THEN see if you HAVE to scale back.... check out some punch rigs from siebert outdoors..... Mike can probably make you some as big as you need. Check him out.
  17. how heavy are you going? 1.You might have to go 1.5 oz or 2 oz 2. can you fish the canopy holes without ultra heavy weight? 3. have you fished the grass line/edge?
  18. discount or not Mike's prices are LOW.....often lower than other jigs out there TW, BTD, and Bass Pro and other retailers. and NOBODY beats Mike's quality.
  19. don't forget, the network of cypress knees under the water normally extends as far out as 20 yards away from the tree. fish it just like anything else, the entire racket: Jigs cranks worms spinnerbaits topwater ect.
  20. a bunch. I had a 18 foot tracker avalanche tin boat and then got a Nitro Z9..... it was night and day. ride, wind control, the whole deal.
  21. neither did they(90% of the time). I am not singling you out by quoting you, it just fit what I wanted say. it is my opinion you can't be a "serious fisherman" unless you own a scale. I don't care where you live, what you drive, what rod you use, if you have a boat..... but I will judge you on whether you have a scale or not. opinions vary but that is mine for the most part.
  22. RW I'll say this too....... I don't think they are all the way there yet, I heard Randy Haynes talk about it too last week and I cant say I disagree. In fact the 5.20# I caught if she had been off the bed a week I am not typing this post... bloddy tail, scared up, nicks, rashes on the belly... I think it is all late this year. Hackney talked about catching some pre spawn fish last week, how crazy is THAT!
