  1. use it or sell it if you have no use for it, sell it so the other one is free too...... but really, you cant have too many rods.
  2. I thought about doing the swimbait deal, and I bought most of the pre requisite gear, baits, ect ect. and the more I thought about it, the more I realized I did not and will not have the patience to do it. I still however will throw bullshads, hudd68, G2s, that kind of deal. The kind where you can throw on normal heavy tackle...... but the 8 punkers, 8in hudds just aren't for my style.
  3. you only have 1 magazine????
  4. I do mine on a Dobyns 704. I think a St Croix Avid that RW said is good too, you could also go 7 foot instead of 6'6 if you wanted. It is preference on length, some like longer some like shorter.
  5. 3/4oz head with a 5" big hammer on it I throw on 20# tatsu....... I also throw a 5 or 6" bullshad on the same.
  6. I agree...... my first baitcast combo was a carbonlite combo, if a guy can swing it, it is a great start up combo. I didn't know they put the PQ reel on them now, which is even better. I know the lews reel in the OP was light years better than the Carbonlite reel that came on mine. so maybe the OP can keep the lews Idea and catch a carbonlite rod on sale? that's what I would do.
  7. yep NEVER leave home without shakey head worms, NEVER.
  8. I think I just threw up a little in my mouth just thinking about that one
  9. I throw mine on a Dobyns DX742. st croix makes a good rod, I used a MH mod cranking rod last week and I was impressed. I believe it was an Avid series, so if a guy wanted to stick with st croix, I wouldnt blame him one bit.
  10. the blood knot is what I use to join topshot to backing. I would trust it if I had to in a fish fight, and its much easy for me to tie
  11. yep Mike is in Mexico...... I am sure he got it and all is well.
  12. I fish a football 100% of the time, rock, laydowns, wood, everything. I like it keep it simple and not get worked up, lol. you can get the football, but I you might like a brush head a little more. The brush head/alien head is an all around head. fish it some, and see what you like. In fact since in your position you only need 2 colors, get one in football and one in a brush head and see what you like.
  13. I only fish 3 color........ black and blue......green pumpkin with a few orange strands..... and PBJ. now for you: you are fishing stained to muddy close to 100% of the time? you are fishing less than 15 foot or less? you need quality jigs? this leads me to one answer: get Sieberts 3/8 oz brush head in black and blue and greenpumpkin with orange (bama craw or Jfranco) you only need one size as you are never over 15 foot but mostly under 15 foot. you only need one head style, as you are just starting and the brush head is a great all around head you only need two colors because you are only fishing muddy and stained. now for trailers: rage craws or netbaits paca craws 1. green pumpkin (a must) 2. black and blue flake (a must) 3. bama craw (optional) 4. anycolor that looks cool to you (optional) 2 colors of jigs in 1 size..... with 4 trailer colors ( only two are must have) is ALL you need
  14. no, you should be able to hear it.
  15. basscatcher..... thats worth at leaast 3 cents if you ask me! good stuff .
  16. thats funny RW, I was just looking at junebug yesterday thinking it would be a good PBJ trailer.
  17. whip 'em out boys ....... its a measuring contest now. yall want to talk about helping young folks and new anglers????? What kind of example is whining like little girls setting? can we drop the agendas now and talk about fishing? Please.
  18. yep the 4 power from dobyns takes care of all your 3/8 needs. think about it like this... this is a blanket statement but true for the most part but there is some cross over to be had but this is the breadbasket weights IMO Jigs, trigs, but not including swimjigs, as that's where much of the cross over happens. 1/4oz 3 power 3/8oz 4 power 1/2oz+ 5 power I own champion series 733, 734, 735 and DX series 742, 743, 744, 745, 784 so that is my opinion on how they all rank
  19. lol, I been crosseyed before that's for sure....... I been trying to fish deep and learn it, no way near close to "knowing" it yet. 2 foot or 20 foot, I just like catching fish.
  20. I could only hope HawgHunter.......... that would a wet dream for me!!!
  21. is anyone else surprised on how much shallow water stuff is listed
  22. oh my word Glenn!!!!!! it that anywhere close to you? Yall be safe! I havent watched the news in a while, too busy and trying to fish on weekends.
  23. Catt..... that color always intrigues me..... it is just the craws in your area, or craws in general. Maening the hotter it gets the "redder" they get?
  24. hope that pump don't turn off at $75 like it does here!
  25. RoLo..that's funny cause I don't like (mostly) crankbaits with rattles! funny people those fishermen!
