  1. what's not to like? you can snap it over your knee, pay the processing/shipping and you get a new rod, no questions.
  2. but "assault weapons" have been banned or since the '30s but what you are doing and you are allowing others to do is call the sky red and believing it, then calling it red yourself ......... even though you KNOW it's blue. so why let someone dictate something you know is blatantly wrong. in the gun bill they tried to ram through a few months ago, even a glock19 would have been labeled as such because of mag capacity. as a whole, being nationwide, by a matter of law, AR15s are not classified as assault weapons...... if they were you would have to go through the paperwork Raider outlined. end of story, unless you want to argue vocabulary more ........ just like when someone says clip, I ask for what? a paper clip? it is a magazine, pure and simple. I know that is a hard line, but it is the vocabulary that is important because it is the vocabulary that can get easily twisted if gun owners like ourselves allow it to be, you can at least give me that, right?
  3. the issue is just that. the wording, the names. so it matters a lot on what they are called..... just like you didn't run down to your local walmart and buy any. the OP as stated in your post is probably uneducated in the way of guns, so why not educate him. Educate him so he knows what assault rifles REALLY are. there is no legal definition, period, end of story, you are making a bunk argument. you cant call an apple an orange. or I can sell you a couple ugly sticks and call them G.Loomis..... they are jig rods right, same difference?
  4. no you cant....... you can see the above posting to know why. here is another for you: (cut and pasted) The term “assault weapon” was a spin-off of the U.S. military’s definition of assault rifles. The U.S. Department of Defense has long defined assault rifles as fully automatic rifles used for military purposes. Fully-automatic weapons have been prohibited in the U.S. since the National Firearms Act of 1934. Fully-automatic firearms can spray fire with a single pull of the trigger, while semi-automatic guns fire one shot with each pull of the trigger. A Broadened Category of Assault WeaponsWhile civilian ownership of automatic weapons has been heavily regulated in the U.S. since 1934, most semi-automatic weapons remained legal until 1994. The AWB defined a broad category of semi-automatic rifles, handguns and shotguns with military-style characteristics as being “assault weapons.” The law made it illegal to make those weapons in the U.S. for a 10-year period. In 2004, the AWB expired when Congress did not vote to renew it. As a result, it became legal to produce and own those firearms once again. so, since there is no "AWB" in effect right now, there is no propagandized legal definition to be had. sorry
  5. LOL it was going to wind up there anyway.
  6. *sigh*
  7. as·sault ri·fle noun noun: assault rifle; plural noun: assault rifles 1. a rapid-fire, magazine-fed automatic rifle designed for infantry use.
  8. wow, talk about lucky! better buy a lotto ticket RIGHT NOW. always have an independent mechanic check it out......general once over on the motor, compression, lower unit oil, ect ect. It is money well spent, especially knowing what you just witnessed on your last test run.
  9. is your speed GPS? if not then do not rely on non GPS speed for any math based equations.
  10. a bigger prop is going to drop your RPM 200-400..... so you really need to know what your starting RPMs are because if you are already say 300-400 from max, then a bigger prop will drop you below intended operating range which is not suggested or good for your motor
  11. really? I always thought the ducketts fished light (or the ones I handled did) I always thought/heard the Loomis fished good to rating, so I would say MH........but now I don't know. Luckily there should be so GLX users filter in to answer this. you using 15# or 12# line?
  12. depends on brand, line, depth, lure ect ect. can you give some details?
  13. I was there March 20-21......... the fish have most likely moved up more, especially in the last few days with the warmth. but my loosely worked pattern was 10-14 fow with deep very close by. caught fish on a shakeyhead......... but my good fish came on a crankbait.
  14. CAN is a debatable word....... until you understand that you will just want to argue, thus you are trying to shape other people's experience. case in point: I still have a square 35in TV. I do because I cant stand how the flat screens stretches the picture, I PREFER a square TV.... so a plasma adds NOTHING for me, in fact for me it detracts from the experience. I'm out.
  15. Bring it all boys........ you got an entire cabin to store it in!!!! if I were going this is what I would have rigged when I launched my boat: 3/4oz jig 1/2 oz jig 1/8 oz shakey 1/4oz shakey 3/8oz shakey dt10 5xd 6in bull shad senko weightless ( I learned that lesson) and work out from there. IMO the beauty of the TN River the first week in May is they will be in all 3 stages, pre/on bed/and post so catch 'em how ever you are comfortable........ and learn/build confidence in a new technique while you are at it. Last year I walked away being a MUCH better shakeyhead fisherman and finally learned how to fish a senko(always fished it too fast) so throw it all in your trunk, you'll use it LOL
  16. also, to anyone I quoted I do not hold any ill will what so ever. fish what you can/want when you can/want....... we all have the same goal, great pictures and full livewells!
  17. there are a few examples for you!!!!!! now keep in mind, I don't give a Rats Arse, but you got an attitude with your quote so I figured I would respond. I say all of this knowing, I have all supertuned Lews TPs or CORES, all on DOBYNS rods(mostly DX series) have Jason Williamson's old boat, nitro Z9 with THREE 1198's and a 998 with a hydrowave, and dual power poles and a new 112# Terrova Ipilot link, remote locking system and 20 inch aftermarket wheels on the trailer........ and I pull that sum-batch with a 2013 Ram Longhorn with EVERY factory option and you know what that proves?????? 1. I still get snubbed by Ranger ****** at the ramp 2. I still get my head kicked in by a ole timin' local that uses ugly sticks and $30 baitcasters........ I GAURENTEE you he had more fun than ME, and a better experience CATCHING than I did WATCHING so as long as the equipment works properly, cause we are catching fish not playing "rod n reel" PS, I don't WANT to play angry birds, nor do I want to go 0-60 in under 3 secs.
  18. I am a gearhead.. I love gear and gadgets and buttons with lights. but I have just as much fun, if not more with a bucket of crickets and an ultralight push button rig. so I agree with Red Earth and I would ask others, if the gear puts the fun in it, then why do you fish?
  19. maybe it is meant to be a "video series" LOL
  20. In general here is what I think..... keep in mind there is always some crossover in weights Champion Line 3 power = 1/4 oz jigs 4 power = 3/8oz and 1/2oz 5 power = 3/4oz and 1/2oz too if working heavy cover DX basically the same except I like all my 1/2oz jigs on a 5 power, or a 784ML (becasue of the tip) I think the 744 is more suited to 3/8oz. That's IMO, based on how I like to fish. Cork is all personal, I like full cork..... the rod feels better in my hands with full cork and 2 handed cast are easier for me in the full cork. I have a 742 in split cork and everytime I use it (often) I wonder why I ordered it in split instead of full
  21. with texas rig worms you have to wait a second on them.... you cant go full atomic on them the instant you feel the tick, like you can with a jig. thats been my experience.
  22. Yeap, I read #1 twice and kept reading it as those were the stocker ponds size. Even though Lusk is not invovled, I still think it is worth noting the # per acre a body of water can carry..... as I understand it, it is not forge that is the issue at that point it is water quality. take king fisher society for example.... it is one of the highest mantained lakes in the country, and holds a great number of # per acre, but it can get away with it because it has current and the water is always changing over.. so there are many, many factors besides perfect genetics. I am very excited to see how it pans out, either way.
  23. I look forward to read the article....... and interested to see how big the "ponds" are. I have read Bob Lusk say before even under perfect conditions, lakes can only grow so many #s of bass per acre.
  24. Gene does guide at King Fisher....... where average bass is 5#. I maybe wrong, but I haven't heard of a slew of double digits coming out of there. Also, he shoots MANY, if not most of his videos at that private lake, where those bass are feeder trained.
