  1. What if a person is fishing alone. I mean if they fall in who is going to toss it to them.
  2. Ahhh that's my old stomping grounds. The Jackson river above Lake Moomaw is a great stream for trout. That's at least 3.5 hour drive from Spotsylvania. Maybe even 4.
  3. Wayne why do they close those lakes during late fall and winter ?
  4. I know there is a lake/pond in the City park (Gypsy Hill Park) that I think has a bass population. Im sure there is some bass fishing near there but I mainly trout fish when up that way.
  5. Anything going on up there ? Haven't been in years since I ran the jon boat club. Seen some hogs come out of there but also remember good numbers of smaller fish as well. A buddy of mine want's to go this Saturday and we are thinking of going up there. A lot depends on what Hurricane Irene does.
  6. Tackle Express has some awesome people that work there too. I used to wade up at Maidens before I got a boat. It reminded me so much of the times I used to wade the Cowpasture River back home when I was a lot younger. Good times right there.
  7. Thanks for the info.
  8. Been a couple of years since I have been to Diascund. I used to do pretty good down there. Probably gonna be tough anywhere with temps the way they are of late.
  9. Hopefully Im not in the wrong by posting this here. I'll just chalk it up to being a noob on the board. But does anyone know of a good shop or individual around Richmond that works on Johnson outboards ? I have a older 9.5 that needs some maintenance done on it. I was told I need to have the impeller changed because mainly of age. I have not used the motor in quite a few years. Probably needs the fuel system cleaned as well. Any help is appreciated.
  10. I would have loved to come out but I promised a buddy I would take him to Diascund Saturday.
  11. I used to feel the same way about fishing but then everyday life seem to take precedent. Work, kids, chores, kids, ect.....I still enjoy it when I get out which has not been much in the last few years. Gonna try to get out this weekend and hopefully will have pictures to share.
  12. The Greenbrier river is pretty good for Smallies. Also I see you live in Virginia so you can come back east of there about 20 miles around Covington (you will pass by it on your way to Lewisburg) and fish above Lake Moomaw in the Jackson river for smallies or trout if you are into that. NW of Clifton Forge on route 42 is the Cowpasture river which has great smallmouth fishing. You just need to check with some locals about where you can get in at because a lot of it is on private land. If you get in there find some of the deep holes and throw crawfish imitations. Hope this helps and good luck.
  13. New to the board. Hope to share and gain some good info with you folks. Currently in the Central Virginia area.
