Which rod would you recc.that is a true medium power (100 and under). My vendetta feels more mh and I have a mh carbonlite already. Id like a different model rod for variety.
I use 12lb yo zuri and 15lb big game mono. I haven't had problems. I trust mono knots more than flouro, thats just me. It seems to keep the bait floating better off of the bottom for me when Im look at it close to shore
Im thinking youd want the stx for the speed with jigs and t rigs but youd probably need to try both to see if the s can handle the weightless plastics or not
This evening I caught about 10 or so, they are almost at the doorstep
senkos, zoom lizards and kvd cranks were getting action
hopefully tomorrow is the same because the roads are so flooded I cant go anywhere
So far not much luck, caught a 2lb bass on my spinning outfit...it was actually decent because it was pulling drag out. 4 inch yum dinger
Tried a spinner bait, wake bait, swim jig, sexy dawg, umbrella rig(caught one yesterday in between squalls)
The lakes look higher than ever right now. Since Im not going on the road Ill fish in the community pond since its the safest route. Anyone planning to do any fishing? What baits do you think would work well today? I hope everyone is safe, unflooded and with power
What # is your brake set to? For heavier baits for me the sweet spot is between 3 and 5, weightless flukes I can cast on 5 with no probs a pretty good distance. Im using 12lb hybrid. I had 65 lb braid and it bombed my frogs when I was using it for that
if you go with the veritas the m is more like mh and mh is more like a h
6ft6 - 7ft m may serve you well. I have a 7ft mh one..6ft 9 may be your sweet spot.
You can find them as low as 60 dollars on the net at times...which I didnt know before I got mine
They come in both standard and microguide versions also
If you do buy from dsg, use the 10 dollar off coupon from a survey
I know a reel guy who met some pros (popular ones) and he was able to have then send him all of their reels for servicing and upgrades because they had no idea what they were doing or could be done.
I used to use wd40 on my reels before I knew better
My hook sets look nothing like that, usually quick and not as much tension..Ive never broken a rod ever tho. Maybe Im doing it wrong (no sarcasm)
Ive had a med and mh carbonlite and caught many snakeheads and bass on them
Thats great to hear..the combo looked awesome in your pis, but are you sure you dont want to rephrase the boleded based on this...1st thing that came to mind when I read it
My friends caenan is almost on a year and still rocking with no noticeable wear. He uses it for everything including inshore fishing. Maybe he is lucky
I think it makes it alot easier for the casual fisheman to pick up a rod that says "spinnerbait rod" on it if they fish that or "worm and jig" if they are looking for a rod for that purpose. They obviously designed it to work in that manner. It may also simplify things for many people.
My first bait casting rod I bought was a 6ft6 medium based on the the tag attached to the rod saying it is a good all purpose rod to buy. Im sure I could use a crankbait rod for frogging not knowing any better or thinking it feels right but Im sure it would work better for whats the rod is listed for.
I do understand your point of view, but not everyone wants to go through the fuss or may be educated enough to know what taper and length is for what purpose. There are many companies that don't do this for you to choose from.
Are you using baitcasting or spinning gear? I have used 12lb on my baitcast reel with no kinks but I did break off on a big fish so I took it off the reel.
If there is a chart, its probably tatted on LMG's Calf. You may have to do some cutting and pasting from various sites otherwise
