  1. Which Jamaican spot cooked up the fish for you? Was it good, because it sure looked it cooked in that manner.
  2. and neither were mine 11/21 I showed my niece how to use a senko, not only did she catch her 1st bass, she caught and landed 7 out of 9 fish. She had 5 in less than 30 mins. Great day for her, she was so excited. She made sure to let me know she was the queen and she out fished me 7-2 11/22 I showed the little kids next door how to use a senko type bait. He used my spinning rod with a bps sticko and we were casting where a fish was chasing bait. After a few casts the line took off and the drag was screaming. I had already lost hope on getting the fish so I was extremely pleased to hear that noise. A few mins later he had a 3lb+ bass. His 1st bass and it was a great one. He was smiling ear to ear for about 1hr while dressed in his Sunday best before heading to his thanksgiving dinner party. It doesn't get any better than that. Nothing better than seeing kids happy.
  3. I have seen gators in many neighborhood ponds near me and in my own development. Its been a while but its startling when you go to walk your dog near the lake and you see a beast baking in the sun. My moms lake is small and they pulled 3 out of it but that borders a canal near by.
  4. I like whats on clearance (usually strike king premium or burners) or walmart 1.00 spinner baits because they are cheap and work well
  5. I thought this thread was stated by Robert Urich
  6. Oh yeah on those storm swimbaits, they all swim horizontally for me too, not one fish caught, but on the contrary I bought some clearance swimabits called slurpies that swim like champs. I bought one of those eels on clearance also for 1.79. Not one fish caught. I never caught any fish on my green live target 65 frog, I did however catch a nice snag i some weeds and it popped off the braid trying to free it.
  7. I have a medium in 7ft and I like it. I also picked it up when it was discounted. Good buy. I also throw some spinnerbaits on it and it does well with that too. Im sometimes I think I should have bought the mh but its probably mental since most of my casting rods are in mh. I throw shallow divers and squarebills mostly and it handles those well. Lipless Cranks once in a while but I think the mh might handle those better if you choose to. I throw them on a different rod heres a thread
  8. jerk baits, flukes, cranks, jigs, spinner baits,craws/soft plastics on a football jighead ..maybe a topwater popper, spook, etc if you see bass chasing shad
  9. Just make sure to look at the lure ratings based on what you'll be throwing. Most of my MH rods say 1oz except my older berkley which is over 1oz (1/4- 1 1/4) .The umbrella rig will probably be heavier than 1oz depending on the amount of lures, if you use swimbait hooks or not. I get by on that rod if I choose to throw it, which is hardly ever. but it works and can be used for all around fishing for me if I chose. You'd probably want a heavy action rod as others stated or if you aren't fishing this rig much a m/h that has a higher lure rating than 1oz. with a longer handle. See what weights youll be throwing with the worms as well. Id look at what Id be fishing of the listed techniques primarily then choose according to those. Id assume worms and swimbaits...then the rig.
  10. I cant help you but this may if not aware
  11. I don't see why not, I throw frogs on all of my m/h rods, the least expensive is a berkley LR from a few years ago. They all work.
  12. This might be advisable based on someone else that has both (veritas/bps carbonlite) for spinning and prefers the carbonlite. A falcon rod may even be better suited to your needs.
  13. me too Seems that we have both learned from
  14. I did this yesterday, I had never done it before. Usually its just regular take apart/oil/cleaning. My Bass pro reel (PQ) had a huge difference in casting range. The bearing on the spool tension was jammed up, unknown to me. It took soaking and spraying with the shields off to make it spin freely.. Today when testing it, I was able to almost clear the spool of 65lb braid, casting a BPS humping toad with a swimbait hook with 2 brakes on with a mh carbonlite rod. If I used my normal spro or koppers frog, it may have emptied it. We shall see. I also noticed a difference in my revo sx, brakes 3/4 of the way turned up and it was bombing baits. I need to try my lews a bit more with a lure I use regularly to see if I notice anything major. I have a citica also, but I left it at the ol ladys house, so I must wait n see
  15. bread bobber and hook...bream all day
  16. say his name 3x in a mirror
  17. Captain shane from this site has one on youtube
  18. If you are asking me.. sometimes I fish the canals feeding off of it but not on the c14 directly. The peas im catching are near tamarac
  19. I read a review on youtube that the owner of both a curado g and chronarch e stated he is realizing the G is a better reel when I asked why he replied "Just after using both for a year the G Series is better smoother and casts more consistent.. I love both and chronarch prob casts a little bit farther but not much."
  20. I have 12lb seguar red label and 12 bps fluro...I wasnt a fan due to breaking but I'm willing to try something else in a heavier test. Not sure if a full spool or just leader material. I have #12lb yo zuri spooled that I can use for finesse jigs, some of my other reels have 50-65lb braid so I'm covered there I'm not the best jig fisherman but I'm going to try to make myself a much improved jig user.
  21. No problem, hopefully I can share more. I didnt realize these little lures were so much fun to fish.
  22. Thanks for all of the input and reccs. I'll try a few different set ups for different jig types.
  23. Thanks @Mod n Rico
