  5. Thanks for the input. I've been using many of these techniques, Ill try the ones I haven't The cranks can be hit or miss because it may be clear and then one patch has grown almost to the waters surface in certain areas close to shore unfortunately. The worm and jig bit off the bottom has been good until you get to a certain point then its muck city. Topwater is hit or miss around the edges, some of the algae is there surfacing. Thats where I used to get the majority of the hits but since its hotter the filth seems to be back again. Open water is fine. The spinnerbaits have been productive, one day I caught 20 off of it, some days 1-2. Wacky rig senkos have been the most deadly and consistent From reccs in the thread. I have a few soft swim baits Ill try. I will get back to the fluke and weightless baits, I just get impatient waiting for them to fall at times.
  6. If you have encountered lakes or canals with algae all over the bottom of it, what is your method of choice/plan of action/mode of attack, etc. Pulling algae off of lures every cast can be a pain. I have some options that have been working but looking for more (possibly drop shot).
  7. I actually had 2 hits, one fish got off. The one that got off was subsurface on entry from the cast so I wouldnt really count that as a buzzbait strike Not sure if I like the mono as I fished them with braid before and it felt better upon the hookset. It does seem to plane better with the mono tho IMO Black and chart with clackers got the attention Ill try some of your tips and see what happens
  8. sometimes I fish 5 times a day and once or twice ive fished 5x per hour this may also help
  9. veritas micro is 70 bucks on walmart.com
  10. I forgot to add that part directly some say dark for dark water, bright for dark water It seems black is what most people use overall based on the replies here
  11. I hear so many conflicting theories on colors etc that Id like to get some good solid info from experts. I don't catch enough fish on buzz baits to have an idea of what worked when. I believe I've caught the most fish on the black/black booyah, both in cloudy overcast conditions. 2-3 fish, I def remember 2 Black/Red Cavitron in sunny conditions 1 fish Im fishing them currently on a bps crankin stick, shimano citica, 14lb suffix elite mono I have some Cavitron Buzz Baits in various sizes as well as some Booyahs These are my colors that I own, not sure on the sizes white/gold blade-cavitron black/red blade-cavitron black/black blade-booyah black/silver clacker-booyah chart/silver clacker-booyah Today 12-11-12 is overcast and slightly breezy so Id like to get rocking today without too much trial and error if possible Gracias
  12. The sx was finicky for me but I use more braking now(I was always set on it being on half previously). I loosen the spool tension a bit more and I can still cast a mile without the problems I had previously before making this discovery on my gen 2. Its been pretty much backlash free since. Mine is still smooth but I dont tend to beat up my gear even tho I fish alot.

  15. Id do that also, great combo(tons of gear ratios and choices), reliable. easy to return if unsatisfied/probs. doesnt blow your budget, leaving you bait money, money for line, saved, etc http://www.basspro.c...escription_link 6 ratio reel should have you covered with a 6ft6 or 7ft med or mh , medium should be fine for those techniques Id def goto a store and figure out if you prefer right or left handed retreive before committing to anything Hopefully you have a BPS in your area, then you can go see and feel the merchandise
  16. ahhh, I see it matches the edge of the spool on the core
  17. What color(s)and size do you like using? I normally buy sexy shad in all sizes but buy the clearance colors at times. Best luck I had was with a 3/4 oz in sexy sunfish, within 3 casts on the 1st time using it ..... was stolen from me by a 5lb+ bass at the shore =( Looking or some of your favorite and most productive colors to try.
  18. I didnt really believe they did, just posting for color coordination but what other reels available locally match that horrid color.. At least the caenan has less of a eek factor in the coloring than the scorpion. That's just too much yuk, quality, but expensive yuk at that. My opinion tho
  19. try here http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/fluorocarbon_line.html
  20. I like them but I never catch much buzzbait bass unfortunately
  21. may help, had similar questions
  22. maybe they want this I editied the quote with the caenan pic
  23. saw this a lil bit ago The rod looks way sicker in person! It's just as light as my medium heavy rods too! The only bad thing I could find was that it was a little tip heavy.. That may just be because its a 7'6" rod though. Overall it's a great rod!
  24. Id have to see them in person to judge but the color isnt my cup o tea
  25. you can buy a bantam curado..... Lews is 23 ipt, I have one but in 7 ratio http://www.lews.com/reels.htm#7
