  1. I love the Japanese vids, every hookset = techno music and low frequency grunts
  2. Best recourse is to buy the extended rod warranty for 11 bucks from whatever store you buy from if you like the rod. At least you can get an extra year plus over the counter service if you choose to do so. I noticed gander tossed e21 rods out of the store last year. Much different from your ABU experience @ Christian Abu customer service is so beautiful
  3. Sometimes the hooks on the KVD can act up, you may be able to bend them out slightly. Some of the hooks just bend back no matter what you do. I had one kvd frog Id lose fish on and another that always hooked up. Not sure if that is also a reason the fish are coming off. Booyah is pretty consistent with hookups for me at least. Koppers is now the same price as KVD at Dicks sporting goods btw, they lowered the pricing. Good if you want a heavier frog. Booyah is always a good value.
  4. Heres some more from the other day
  5. I keep it locked until I feel I need to loosen it during the fight. Might be loosing fish because of it. Their head is bony. Try it, lock it down what brand frog are you using?
  6. 6 ratio will work in all honesty. I have 6 and 7s and I use each without any thought. You said cranking so Id use a 6
  7. That's for people that need more than one. Cast away.
  8. What band braid? Was your line already frayed? What is the drag set at? What action rod is it? What knot are you using? I usually have my drag locked down for hard, solid, hook sets. Sometimes it's not, the drag slips and the hookset isn't as good as it should be. I usually adjust the drag during the fight. I use no leader, Ive broken off once ever on a beast from trying to horse it up on a rocky bank. I've lost snakes but not from break offs.Palomar knots seem to be the choice for most, I use the trilene, both are super strong. I assume you have a m to mh rod, Hopefully mh to h. Some bands of braid are garbage unfortunately or some spools are bad but many times the line is frayed or the knot isn't a well tied knot. 50 will work, 65 is better, not for the fish, but getting back your frog if you get it stuck in vegetation, trees, etc. My all purpose braid reel has 50, my other has 65 I use for flipping and snakes occasionally.
  9. Great fish, nice gut!
  10. You don't have to kill it but, they say they'd like you to eat them.
  11. both, right by the dealership and over by the park on the east side...they are around there
  12. Sorry to hear man. Must be a chore handling those. I remember seeing a youtube video with some guy having a pike pierce his hand. I hope you gave it a backhand!
  13. It was, thanks! Yeah, thats the beauty of certain parts of South Florida if you like to fish. You can see all of these huddled up together living happily. Theres also your normal panfish, tilapia. snook, tarpon and other crazy aquarium tank invasive in the water. Then theres saltwater not even 20 mins away.
  14. Must be. Mine was just in a box with bags, then I asked for a rod tube but the rod came with a spiral wrap lol. @flyfisher, I think a ML may equal a medium, it may even be too stiff
  15. Great pics. Awesome time I imagine. His fishing pole looks like it has a lot of backbone!
  16. That was me, but I still love them even with the stupid shipping issues that happened.OT: The Vendetta rod that came from walmart was packaged much better than my Veritas rods straight from pure fishing. Someone said the veritas rods are on sale from walmart btw. The customer service over there is great, my experiences alone will keep me buying abu products, When a problem arises, they address it and even solved ones that I caused(lost parts to my reel accidentally).
  17. Thanks, you'll probably have to make a trip to South Fla like my buddy did. I was happy I was able to put him on some good fish. It was also his 1st pea. I hope to repeat the process again this weekend. He didn't realize the snakehead got so big and came down here with a medium 3pc rod and 10lb braid and some leader material. Not Ideal for where we were fishing but it ended up working out for him. Next time he will spool 30lb min. My other friend got part of my fight on camera, but his iPhone ended up full, what a bummer. His video quality was much better than mine. Youtube actually made it look worse because it was 720p but only shows 480 on youtube.
  18. Fish around Griffin and I-75, you should be able to bag one
  19. A buddy came in from out of town for the weekend and he wanted to catch some South Florida game fish. Here a are a few pics of what we caught. I also taped him catching his 1st snake in the bottom pic. You'll hear my exciting commentary on the shaky video. One of the most amazing things was having a Mayan Cichlid swallow my spro frog, 1st time catching one on a frog. We caught a ton of fish combined, there was 3 of us. We all landed a bass over 4lbs. One of my other buddies(not pictured) had a bass hit his frog like a freight train, it was unbelievably loud, definitely the hardest hit of the weekend. Hope you guys enjoy the pics n vids. Ill try to upload the rest once I get them off of my old phone.
  20. I'll say the pflueger president before someone else does. Its 60 or less and a great reel.
  21. worked for me I expected snakeheads for some reason
  22. They were bass, I just had the drag loosened. I always forget to set it on the 1st cast. Then I loosened it again after trying to free a hang up and for got to set it back...repeat process. I like that hack attack jig also. I have 1 3/8th oz jig that I wont fish in that spot because I dont want to risk losing it. I save it for the grassy bottom spots.
  23. I lost 3 jigs in about 30 mins the other day and missed every fish that hit. I wont be fishing the jigs I ordered there, off the shelf for me at certain locations.
  24. I think mine has some spots here and there, best believe I will get a new one once it gets to the point I don't want to tolerate it any more. I also have peeling on the black plastic reel seat coating. Ive been using the rod for almost a year and a half now, heavy duty, from bream to snakeheads. I cant really complain. Its been put through the rigors of Florida weather, sloppy canals and year round fishing.
