You can get a berkley lightning rod or shock in the same price range which will be more sensitive if looking for a reasonable alternative. If you have a Dicks Sporting Goods near, theres tons of rods on clearance also right now.

I used to recommend the senko but now the bite around here has died down tremendously on them. My next recc would be some sort of swimming fluke or paddle tailed swimbait based on success.

It'll work extremely well for frogging. All my veritas rods have held up to fish here in So. Fla without a hiccup. Im actually interested in what the 2.0 frog rod is like in comparison to the older models.

I feel your pain. I bought 2 packs to fish in a certain lake that I know I'm guaranteed to get hung up in so I don't fish them...what was I thinking. I just use lead there with no worries when I have to break off in the rocks.
