  1. I've got 20 lb Fireline on my Stradic 2000 and it has been working good.
  2. I've caught a few 5+ pounders on Lake Hamilton and Lake Quachita
  3. They are owned by Gary Yamamoto's son.
  4. Spinning rod around 6'6" with medium power fast or extra fast tip. Get a 2000 or 2500 series spinning reel, I like the Shimano Sahara and the Stradic. You can use this for finesse techniques such as Wacky, light t-rigs, small cranks, small jigs, and dropshotting if you want. I also like 6'6 Medium baitcasting rod for spinnerbaits, squarebills, and jerkbaits in shallow water.
  5. Almost every restaurant with seafood in Michigan, serves perch. They taste great beer battered. I've caught some nice perch by the detroit princess off the wall. Beautiful perch in the OP's photo but you shouldn't lip them, very bad for their small mouths.
  6. Hey, I am a Kayak Fisherman myself and think I can help you out. I have an Ocean Kayak Prowler Trident 13. My fishfinder is a Humminbird PiranhaMAX 170. I fish no deeper than 20 ft of water and it's not going to necessarily show you fish but will show you the bottom contour and structure that will hold fish and will help you to decide which technique to use. If you do get a fishfinder make sure to take it off fish id mode which will show cartoon fish but most likely they aren't fish. It can be used at any depth you want but in real shallow water you can look at the bottom. My fishfinder doesn't catch the fish for me but for $100 it sure does help. Here is a link to a video of my kayak all rigged up if you want to see.
  7. Braid doesn't solve everything
  8. I'm having the same problem....
  9. The only swimbait rod I have experience with is the Mattlures rod. I have used it for Tru-Tungsten Tru-Life, Little Creeper Trash Fish, Spro BBZ-1, and Wave Worm Anaconda's. Those are all in your weight range and I can get enough distance on it. I got mine for $50 on ebay. I have used mine for drifting for catfish and have caught a few nice ones. My biggest on it was a 20lb flathead out of the Shiawassee river.
  10. There's already a thread about this on the front page.
  11. I use a Netbait Paca Chunk in the Okeechobee Craw color. They're pretty cheap and work for me.
  12. That's awesome. Very nice work.
  13. I'm the opposite, I caught my pb on a 4in senko with a 6/0 hook.
  14. 6/0
  15. They are right around the same weight as an ugly stick. They are a good rod for the money no doubt. I use the Falcon Bucoo for my cranking and it's good enough for me, hooked up first cast no problems. You can try to pick a cranking rod up online during one of the labor day sales.
  16. Calcutta, Pluton, Curado 300ej, Cardiff, millionaire, ambassador. Round reels are ideal for big swimbaits. Can't comment on all of the reels but I do like the Pluton, Cardiff, and ambassador. I would use braid 50-65lb.
  17. I'd use that for spinnerbaits but topwater would work. I like to use braid on my Sammy 100 Rod. (Only topwater I fish.)
  18. I've used them, they're better than most rods under $100 for cranking. They aren't the most sensitive or lightest rod for sure but for $40, can't get much better for that price.
  19. Bass are more active during fall than summer. That being said, I like to fish square bills, jigs, dropshot, and jerkbaits.
  20. If you want an aluminum frame, consider the Quantum Antix. It is on Tackle Warehouse for $80 and has an all aluminum frame. It won't let me link it for some reason. I haven't heard good things about the reels you linked. I have used an Antix and it's decent, it's like your quantum kvd signature series. If I was getting the Antix I'd get the 7.0:1 for worms. You can also get the Lew's speed spool for $90 and is one of my favorite reels.
  21. If you want to use your quantum for cranks it will work fine just reel a little slower than you would for worms. I am not a fan of either of those reels but here is one that is on sale and I have used and like. Abu Garcia Pro Max The 6'6" M on the Browning Rod will be great for your use, that's the same length and power I use. So the Browning SilaFlex 6'6" M with your Quantum Reel for cranking will be good. Then your 6'6" MH with the Pro Max for worms will be good too.
  22. Hey, some of my friends have this rod for crankbaits and really like it for the money. It won't be the most sensitive rod so you may miss bites but it will have the right action to keep the fish pinned. Browning SilaFlex They have a parabolic taper so it looks like a parabola when a fish is on. As for a reel there are a couple of options that will keep you in the $100 range. This reel BPS Bionic Plus This reel BPS Extreme I don't know a lot about the bionic blade but it has decent reviews. I have used a the extreme and it's a good reel for the money, feels a lot like a Shimano Caenan to me.
  23. From when I tested that rod and from what I heard it lacks sensitivity. Your crankbaits and spinnerbaits shouldn't have one setup. Spinnerbaits would be better off on your worm rod and the crankbait rod should have a softer tip. Here is a combo that would work better for crankbaits and are in that price range. Although I haven't used it or heard much about it, it's got to be better than the tourney special. BPS X Crank Combo
  24. Match the diameter of your braid. In your case 8# Fluorocarbon will be the ticket. (Fireline Tracer Braid 20lb Diameter 0.23mm Seaguar InvisX 8lb Diameter 0.235mm)
  25. I kinda like the cracked affect on the blank. It also looks like the inserts on the guides are the quantum energy colors.
