  1. There are tons of topic on this page already about it. Your reel for pitching doesn't need to be a gem. Twitchin' Bars are a weak link and are known to break. I use a Shimano Castaic for Pitching.
  2. The only thing I can think of is the Humminbird Smart Cast. Here is a link to it
  3. Agreed, and perch on a ultralight put up a good fight and taste great!
  4. I also used CXX and it was decent just too stiff for me.
  5. I am in love with Sunline. I have used almost everything they make and haven't had a single break off, knot slip, or any problem so far. I am not saying they are the best lines out there but they fit good into my style of fishing and more importantly, my budget. I am 16 and can't afford to dish out $50 for Tatsu, even when I'm fishing tourneys.
  6. It does weigh under a pound, 5.4 ounces
  7. You can get the Keitech Swing Impact Fat in Perch and Bluegill.
  8. I bought a 300yrd spool of 12lb. CX at dicks a month ago for $3 and it was the worst line I have ever used..... I don't know if they sold me stale line or what
  9. Some good suggestions here but also try tossing a wacky rigged senko into the boil or just outside it.
  10. I'd go with a Sol because it can be found for much cheaper than the other two.
  11. San Diego Jam for everything! By the way if you have a smartphone I suggest you download the Knot Wars app. It is a great tool for learing new knots and the animation on it is spectacular.
  12. Shimano Cumara 7'4" Heavy
  13. I am fine with fresh Trilene but it will get stale in a short period. I hate P-Line mono and copolomer, haven't tried their braid. I love sunline and seaguar is decent. I am going to try McCoy Mean Green next year on a setup next year. Power Pro is a nice line as well.
  14. I hate to be the odd one out and cannot comment on most of these rods but I have used the CUC-74H and love it. Seems to be in your specifications and I bet you will like it.
  15. Most people on here and myself like to match the diameter of our leader. For instance, your 20lb. Power Pro has a diameter of .23mm and your 20lb. leader has a diameter of .40mm which is quite a difference. Having the two being close in diameter will make the connection more fluent with a fish on and will go through the guides smoother. Power Pro has a thin diameter because it is braid of course. So I would recommend stepping down to a 8lb. fluorocarbon leader if you are going to use one. Some sharpie the last few feet of their line to actually make it less visible in the water. Black line is very hard to see underwater. They do this because it gives them more confidence than them thinking that their bright red or yellow power pro is what is causing the fish not to bite. Not that the color of the line will affect how the fish bite unless you are on really clear water. A tip would be to cut down the middle of the marker so that the line can fit between it and you can color the line on one swipe. In your case, you probably don't need to sharpie or need use a leader because your water is mostly stained and your green line is hard to see underwater anyway. But if you are fishing around rocks or anything metal, switch to an abrasion resistant leader.
  16. I'm getting a Shimano Curado G7 so no need to bump this old thread guys...
  17. I'm pretty sure the coffee masks the human scent and the salty taste resembles the salt content in blood which makes them hold on longer. I know someone was talking about it on the tv show Classic Patterns.
  18. A Jackall Hardpuncher will do.
  19. Nice fish! Looks like a sweet place to fish.
  20. I was offered a used G.Loomis GLX Flipping Stick FSR905X 7'6" Heavy Mod-Fast for $125. Think this is a good deal? The ceramic in the last guide has been replaced and it has his name on it since he got it from G.Loomis when he was on Pro Staff. It was $475 new and it's pre-shimano. What do you guys think?
  21. Took ya long enough!
  22. I use Oakley Polarized but I'm not sure of the model. I got them as a gift and am happy with them. Costa and Maui Jim make some nice lenses. I like all of the styles Oakley has if you don't want to use them just for fishing.
  23. I don't think the Skeet Reese or the new GL2 are worth their money. The St Croix Premier is a great rod in the $100 price range and the Avid or Rage are probably better than the GL2. There are other nice rods in that price range but I recommended these because at my gander mtn, St Croix is the best brand they carry. But if yours has Shimano rods, the Compre, Crucial, and Cumara are all great rods.
  24. That wasn't one of my options.
  25. I am going to be purchasing a baitcast reel for my carrot stix original 6'6" mh rod at one of the upcoming online black friday sales. I am looking to spend under $160 and am only considering new reels. The ones that I am looking at are the curado 51e, curado 200g7, lews tournament speed spool, lews tournament mg, ardent edge tournament, pinnacle optimus xt, and the pflueger president. I am going to be using this for 1/4-5/8oz. jigs, rage craws, t-rigs, and other plastics. It won't be my main plastic setup just some variations of what I'm casting on my other setup. What I am looking for in my future reel is mostly dependability and smooth casting and retrieve. Weight, looks, and ergonomics don't play a major role in my decision. I am leaning towards the curado 51e at this point. Thanks in advance.
